  • awwwwwwwww but does she roar the tiny kitty?

  • @MrMarafi No, Nico doesn't roar :)

  • This video is well done and very informative. Thank you very much !

  • She looks so much like my old black cat (Also named Niko lol)

  • Actually, lions are not the only cat species that is social in the wild. Adult male cheetahs very commonly form coalitions and hunt cooperatively, and feral domestic cats form colonies.

  • A BIG CAT lol very like a cat poor animal

  • jeje like a cat

  • At first she may look like a common house cat, but when you watch her move, she is *all* predator. Very few house cats ever move like that. There is a level of stealth and restrained danger there that is obvious. I never understood why other people can't see that and realize that she is definitely not domestic. The muscle tone in the shoulders is so pronounced, its obvious she is wild.

  • Are we sure this isn't a house cat? lol

  • This is a normal cat, you guys are all tricked!

  • She may have been afraid but I still believe it must first gain your trust. I don't agree always with bigcat rescue

  • @MrRanwolfe Hi, what are you referring to?

  • I have never seen the black phase before. Thanks!

  • I swear this cat looks exactly like my cat! we call him Lugh. but he looks and acts just like that . he goes out every night and doesnt come back til morning. sit s that way everything!!!

  • I think the Geoffroys of the world should come together and help this cat. Our names is at stake!

  • How can you tell the difference between a Margay and an Ocelot? :)

  • Call "Here, Margay, Margay, Margay!". If it comes it's a Margay.

  • @MmkSweetness ocelots are the largest, margay next, and oncilla being the smallest. Ocelots have a shorter tail than the margay, and smaller eyes - sorry for the late reply! :)

  • this is the cutest big cat ive ever seen!

  • i wish this cat was domesticated its soooo cute lol take care of her! :)

  • Here's what I don't understand. Why would Nico's owner be terrified of him if he weighs 8 pounds.

MY kitty weighs 8 pounds and, even though she's never attacked me-except to hiss at me-I don't see how much damage she could do even if she did. Leastwise not enough to warrant putting trapping her in a box.

  • @vickiormindyb Despite Nico's size she was obviously very fast and has very sharp claws and in order to catch her, Nico's owner managed to get her in a box and tape it shut.

  • @BigCatRescuewhat a nice camouflage ... it looks like a typical cat :D

  • My pet cat could do a lot of damage if angry at attempted direction; such as demanding he come in from the porch if he doesn't want to. There is a wildness in his eyes sometimes that reveals how close he is to the feral beast he wants to be.

  • @vickiormindyb

Even housecats can do a lot of damage if they chose to, trust me. If a smaller cat chose to attack someone it could indeed inflict a good amount of damage. Just look at their teeth and claws.

  • @vickiormindyb Dude, have you ever actually been in a fight with a cat? I had a 4lb stray I was trying to rescue earn me a total of 28 stitches. One of my cats weighs about 20lbs (he's not fat, he's just very big) got in a fight with a feral pitt bull (4x his size)... the dog lost, it ran away whimpering before I even had a chance to chase it off. And those are *domestic* cats that are friendly and cuddly and used to people. Wild cats are never to be underestimated no matter how big or small.

  • can i have him Pease!!!!!!!!!

  • At first I could not tell how it differed from a domestic cat but I *think* I saw her shoulders look very "lumpy" (muscular) especially while watching her move at 0:13, 2:30 and 2:50-2:53. Is this right or am I just seeing something that's not really there?

  • @sadunlap You could be right, I think it just comes down to her overall shape and proportions that make her look different compared to domestic cats.

  • @sadunlap If a cat gets enough exercise, even a domestice cat can have a very muscular body. Unfortunately, most people allow their cats to be lazy.

Also, as far as differences between feral and domestic cats, remember that even our domestic cats' ancestors were feral. They still have those instincts and many other features that make them very similar.

  • I didn't even know that these kinds of cats existed!

  • he better win that cutest cat contest!!

  • What kind of animal is the last one?

  • I can see why folks would want this cat as a pet. Its a "wild" cat, while seemingly the manageable size of a house cat. But as with the larger cats I can also see that its a wild animal and would tear the crap out of someones house out of sheer boredom.

I hate that she had to live with humans...but I'm also glad you all were there for her when her stupid owner had to dump her in someone else's lap.

  • Keep up the good work BCR and keep all these interesting vids coming!

  • I thought the fishing cat was Prionailurus viverrinus.

  • @captmicha Yep, Correct. The local people where the geoffroy cat lives just refer to the geoffroy as the fishing cat because it readily enters water :)

  • i learned so much with your channel !

Thanks you ! I hope that i'll come to see you one day :)

  • AWWWW DEY SO CUTE

  • how big is the geoffroy's cat?

  • @2tigershade4 On average between 4-8lbs :)

  • Niko looks like my friends Bombay house cat.

  • It looks more stubby that a common cat. Just a question... if they become spayed, their character changes like the domestic cat? Not that i want to have one[my dog dont get along with cats xD in first place].

  • Maybe people bought them for pets, thinking that it's a domestic cat, right?

  • @GirlKirbyZombie Maybe, but I doubt it, they probably knew they were wild cats but thought because of the size they could tame them and they would make good "pets" but this is never the case for any wild species of cat :(

  • @GirlKirbyZombie I wonder if people do that with wild dogs. Sell some coyotes to dumb people who think they are an American hunting dog.

  • Deforestation is wreaking havoc across the globe. Why won't people stop being so greedy and consider the other inhabitants of this small Earth. Thank you for everything you do.

  • omg thats my cat!!!

  • Gosh... you know, if I saw that cat walking around, I would never know it wasn't domestic. I assume they still have the more unpredictable nature of their larger relatives though, right?

  • @AzurePeacock Yep, the smaller the cats get the more they try and make up for it with their wild "gestures" :)

  • I wish the lady sounded a little more excited about what she was talking about, because the information she's discussing is pretty neat. :)

  • My domestic cat weighs 14 pounds so having one of these is basically safer! lol

  • @alaswoeisme Mine is 17, unpredictable, and cranky LOL I should send her to BCR...I mean, she THINKS she's a tiger...

  • @apharot lol Same here and mine even plays fetch.

  • @alaswoeisme Mine does that, but we haven't played in awhile. Not only is she 17 lbs, but she's 16 years old. She's at that age where she just does what she wants, to heck with everyone else haha!

  • I'm not an expert so forgive me if I sound cruel but what is wrong with the creation of hybrid cats? Does it have any adverse effects on any involved?

  • @xGHOSTXRECONx Pollution of the gene pool of an endangered species.

  • 17 years...pretty cool.

  • This may not be the place to ask but, I texted the 20222 number with the word 'tiger' and received a message back saying that the keyword 'tiger' was not recognized. I reside in Canada, could this be the reason why? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • @StarsShadow Yes, thanks for trying, but this service isn't available in Canada, you can visit our website or youtube homepage and click on the donate button to find other ways to donate :) THANK YOU !!

  • @StarsShadow Same thing happened to me (I live in Canada too) so I went on their website to donate :)

  • but on the map its shows that they arent found in chile, why did she say they are found there then? an accident maybe

  • @mastaODI56 They probably don't occur in huge numbers in Chile :)

  • Buy?! All MY cats have been free.

I get what breeders call moggies or house pets.

Well, I'm not spending $400 to $800 for a cat no matter HOW beautiful it is.

Rag dolls are around $600. That's even more than a Himalayan. My friend got his cats for $400 each, and all they do is sit there looking regal.

I guess they might as well. They cost enough to qualify.

  • it really looks like a domestic cat :)

how much does a geoffrey cat weigh?

  • @tobionline88 On average 4-8 pounds, Nico probably weighs around 6 ??

  • Th-that's actually a wild cat? You sure he's not just a feral short haired Burmese?

Uuuggh, the thought of skinning a critter just for its coat is so evil. People do such disgusting things for a few dollars.

  • @LeloniBunny Yes Nico is definitely a wild cat 100% !!

  • What happened to Scott? He was the best narrator.

  • @dreamynights He left to pursue his film career, watch out for him on TV rescuing animals! :)

  • who are the 2 morons that gave a thumbs down to these beautiful cats?

I found your video instructive, thank you :)

  • Beautiful cat.

  • What are you feeding them? It looks home made, would it be possible to feed domestic cats with similar food?

  • @KesoXorganoff The ground meat you see in the video, is actually a special carnivore diet we ship in from California, it's the best we can find and has all the added nutrients and minerals these cats need, we also fed Nico chicken necks in the video and she will get a whole rat on wednesday nights :) YUM!

  • nooooooooooooooooooo don't skin geoffroy, he's not skinnable, he's your bro, you don't skin bros. bros don't skin bros.

  • I still think that cat furs looks better on cats. Humans envy cats so much that they kill them o.o

  • @victoriacrl I agree. There's a quote. "No one needs to wear mink fur except a mink." Forgot who said it.

  • XD My cat pawwed at the screen when she saw that!

  • Even this sweet little cat is hunted for her fur. I just can't believe how horrible and disgusting these people are! She's so lovely and sweet! ♥ Breaks my heart. ♥ It really angers me behond words. I want to help all these beautiful species of cats as much as I can.

  • I DID NOT NO THEY ARE WILD CATS?

  • @00YsoSerious00 Yep, Nico is still very much wild! ;)

  • I heard hybrid cats live much longer and tend to be more healthy but with wild characteristics and consequences. I see them for sale all the time.

  • @martenfisher1 thts actually the opposite of the truth, hybrid cats often live shorter lifespans due to genetic disorders that are the consequence of alleles crossing over in their genome

  • She is beautiful. Thanks for posting this clip so that others may learn about this animal and it's importance ecologically

  • She's darling!

  • What a stunning little creature!

  • ITS A WITCH!!!!!!!!!!

  • is it possible for these cats to be in the northern texas area and be completely black with a small white spot on their chest?

  • @ih4t3su I doubt it, ocelots are in Texas though?

  • @BigCatRescue I think so I'm not sure, but I was asking because this cat looked similar to a cat I owned, and he always seemed to big to be a housecat but also never seemed to be wild like a non domesticated cat so I thought maybe I had found the answer to my question haha

  • Niko is so adorable and looks almost exactly like my rescue domestic, Katie, who is also very tiny, with rounded ears, prominent shoulderblades, and the dusting of silver in her otherwise dark coat. Katie is definitely domestic, but one thing she does do, even though she's spayed, is spray-mark copiously!!!

  • It looks like a house cat

  • Its so horrible wrong that all those cats had to suffer for some rich assh*le to have a fur coat. Makes me sick.

  • @nls8520 I know. I don't even think they take the time to kill them humanely either. I remember seeing something where they did it alive. I had to turn it off it made me very upset and a little sick to my stomach. I can't stand people like that.

  • @katyshalo They don't its a sick sadistic thing to do when we live in a civilized society. We can buy a coat from a store. The fact that we as human beings are tolerant of the action, therefore it is allowed and continued. We need to come together as a human race to stop this, sorry for the rant its nice to know that someone still has a heart beating in there chest, or a sense of decency.

  • Wow, they look like a regular house cat.

  • if i was an animal i would most likly be this

  • does scott lope still work for bcr? I haven't seen him appear in a video for a while

  • @asgher786 No, he left to pursue his film career, watch out for him on TV rescuing animals! :)

  • They're awesome.

  • I always knew about Geoffrey's cats, but I've never seen them this close. That's kinda cute. They're actually so cute when they're little like that.

  • i had absolutly no idea that these even existed

  • What a little doll! Doesn't look like she feels well. Thank you for taking care of her.

  • 2:03 damn! big fangs!

  • tiny cat rescue!

  • This was so interesting!

  • Never heard of this species. Yes, that black one reminds me of our own black domestic cat, but our cat is actually larger in size.

Is the white in the fur from being older, as you said was 17 years old?

Love to know what sounds they can make.

  • @MegF142857 Hi, yes the white/gray speckles is from Nico aging, but she's still going strong! :) I've never heard her make any sounds, she's very secretive! Thanks for watching!

  • I admit: I NEVER even heard about Geoffroy cats befor this video :3

  • i learned something today! woo!

  • He looks sleepy o:

  • woah, epic cat. Looks like a leopard D: I want it!

  • wow they almost look like plain black cats O.O i cna barely see the diference

  • the spotted ones are clearly wildcats. they look like tiny ocelots with serval coats. But the black ones you can confuse for a housecat, until it tries to eat you! :) But taping it in a box? That's so mean. These cats are TINY, though! How big are they, actually, in height? It looked like the size of a small housecat.

  • @TheMonthofMayo Nico really is tiny the shot near the end @ 3:25 shows her behind the cage wire which is in 4 inch increments so she stands around 10 inches tall give or take?

  • Wow! I have never heard of this cat before. Very cool!

  • You guys should get a Tumblr account! I'm sure you'd get some more donations from there.

  • 4-8 pounds? My house cats are 12 pounds, and they're not even overweight!

  • Beautiful ! Template of an adult but with size of a kitten !

  • :3 they are so small..

  • This vid was very weird for me to watch, as my name is pronounced the exact same way. xD At least say it with a little more enthousiasm, I almost felt as if somebody was disappointed with me... :P

Anyway, that's a cool cat ^.^ And I'm not saying that because I'm biased, seeing as it shares my name and all.

    ...OK, maybe a little biased.

  • @elleinad0790 you have an ugly face

  • @elleinad0790 noway geoffrey is a hottie.. but maybe you meant the pampas cat? lol.

  • @UjjijjU isn't his name niko?

  • @LupusFang what.

  • @UjjijjU nope, i meant what i said, the geoffrey cat is ugly, and the pampas cat is so weird its cute :D

  • Wow it looks so much like a domestic cat. But like the size of a small dog.

  • i had one as a pet!! thers a picture on my chanel

  • @MissKittycatLove How'd that turn out??

  • @BigCatRescue VERRY VERRY CUTE but kind of the size of a dog. because i had it him almost 3 years ago and when i moved to onother country i didnt know what to do with him because anyone wouldent want him! so i gave it to the people @ the zoo

  • How much more melanistic(black fur) big cats do you have? I ask this particular question because I'm almost sure I already asked if this one was really a big cat in a previous video, but it might be another big cat so I can't say for sure anymore (^ω^;;)

  • @Ido013 We have two black leopards also :)

  • @BigCatRescue Aight then I'm glad you spoke about this wild cat because I knew I saw him/her before and didn't do proper research on it then. What's the smallest big cat that you have besides the sand cat and geoffroy cat?

  • These guys are worth donating for! Merry Xmas Big Cat Rescue!

  • @RipperGand Yeah! Help feed Nico :) Merry Xmas!

  • that looks like my house cat, lucky but he's 20lbs

  • @hamsterlover577 Twice the size of Nico....easily!

  • that looks like my house cat, lucky

  • Wonderful documentary thank you!!

  • The black ones could easily be mistaken for domesticated house cats.

  • She looks tame and very happy :)

  • @norxcontacts As happy as she can be in captivity but definitely not tame :) !!

  • Beautifully-presented tutorial. You guys rock!

  • Big Cat Rescue.

Or in this case Little Cat Rescue.

  • What a sweet old lady! (I'm talking about Niko lol) Thanks for all the Info Willow!

Check out that walk @ 2:50 - 2:53 that walk says, "i'm not one of those cheezburger cats, and I don't nom so just watch your step!"

  • It looks so much like domestic cat that its amazing. There are not many differences in look between them that it all comes down to fact that these are wild cats and thus not suitable as pets.

  • looks like a domestic

  • Such a shame! She so cute!!

  • And In my back yard! Oh wait maybe he's a domestic cat! But looks a lot like this fella!
