  • The Schipa is, to me, more Baroque in style; the Gigli is more Romantic. I am very grateful to have them both, thanks, GOS for putting Gigli in my evening!

  • Have always loved this song. Thanks for sharing this beautiful rendition.

  • Wonderful! Another rarity. This is perfect for Gigli's voice and style. I have always contended that he had an infallible instinct for ancient songs and airs. Beautiful! This is one of the very few songs I can think of that has been sung consistently for almost 400 years, right up through Elvis Presley.

  • Beautiful song, sung beautifully. Thank you, Theo.

  • Oh, thank you for this!

  • It's a miracle! Not that Gigli's tone is sweet as honey and his singing beautiful and expressive--those qualities are a given with this great tenor. I'm talking about Gigli's more than passable French. Thanks for sharing this wonderful example of pure singing.

  • @meltzerboy Other favorite renditions of the song include those of Victoria de los Angeles, Lily Pons, and Marilyn Horne.

  • So great in song as always. Sweet as sugar his voice was.
