  • I think the initial Versalife infiltration and the follow up break in to the lower labs is where DX peaks in gameplay and after that it starts to go a bit downhill. Up until this point there was a lot of interaction with regular civilians and the areas are based around civilian or commercial sectors but after Hong Kong it quickly becomes focused on pure combat missions at military bases.

  • @rlilewis i suppose your sort of right, i enjoy the whole china mission the most, but i still enjoy the rest of the game very much

  • @darkentity1000

I like most the music in paris. such a great game! <3

  • @rlilewis

I never noticed that, but I think you are right...

but anyway the game is great!

  • That fucking employee should be the one whos shot... yeah I hate my boss too but christ I dont want some stranger to put a bullet through his head.

  • Sad moment starts at 0:38...

  • Welcome to Versalife, we make tomorrow look like yesterday!

  • Been playing this game since 2000...

prolly 100 times...still is different everytime.

    amazing

  • @frankDPW so true. best game ever made. and the funniest thing is deus ex was released on 1cd. if i look at all the games that come out nowadays... 15gb is nothing unusual. and they normaly dont even last half of the time you were playing deus ex

  • @chockn Today's games are simplified and dumbed down piece shit.

  • @wcdornez i said the same thing :)

  • @chockn I wish the games of today didnt suck so much as they do.

  • One of the best levels in Deus Ex! Music for this level was just... so.... well... appropriate! Words don't it justice, it's just that awesome feeling.

  • MICHAEL JACKSON?????????????

  • I love when this song plays and you look out the window behind the receptionist and realize how big this building is and see the people walking in Hong Kong.

  • "If you need help, talk to one of the receptionists!"

"Sorry, I already killed her Oo"

  • Man, I really love this game so much it aches...

  • yes I played it through again recently (addict) this time with shifter mod installed carried the dead body of Louis Pan into reception - really funny - everyone drew their weapons and looked non-plussed I was prepared to die (quik save first) but no-one shot me! dumped Louis on the counter and business as usual! (killed em all)

  • @leslondon Whats a shifter mod?

  • @wcdornez Shifter mod changes some things - removes glitches which were like cheats but gives you skill points for kills and extra points for headshots - to balance makes your opponents more powerful too - there are new weapons the coolest of which IMHO is 'Lo Bruto' -Jo Jo Fines modified stealth pistol but if you're a rifle player lots of cool stuff there too - some new augs introduced for best results play 'unrealistic' (right or shift click on the menu)

  • @leslondon Sounds so fucking cool. I am always up for more extras, especially for a game such as Deus Ex. Where the fuck can I download something so awesome as the shifter mod for Deus Ex?

  • I wish my life played like Deus Ex.

  • @DrB231 and at the end which ending you could choose if?

  • your boss is dead

  • This one has my favorite conversation music in the game. Shame that you didn't get to talk much at Versalife.

  • i stole money from my mom to buy this game

and to be honest i doesnt have any moral crack ups about this

    this was 11 years ago

    oh boi

  • I wish we could get a kind of hybrid between DX and Syndicate Wars. Set in future where ruthless mega corps have taken over and they employ armies of high tech mercs to fight between each other.

  • @rlilewis That's been done with Invisible War... and it was nowhere near as good as this game was.

  • @rlilewis If you don't mind graphics, which I don't believe you do since you play Deus Ex and Syndicate Wars, you might want to try Shadowrun for the Sega Genesis, it has that very same premise you're asking for and it's one of the best cyberpunk games there is.

  • Fuckin' masterpiece. I want to stand in office on 1** floor and watch on the night city through big window while listening to this....

  • breaking into the building yeaaaahhhh.

  • When you hear all these songs and they switch every so and so seconds (adjusting to keep it fresh-- what's that called?) it evokes a particular feeling. I love how this song sounds formidable one second and then "optimistic" the next.

Every "part" to me can be named. Example: 0:00 / 0:36 "Under the radar", 0:37 / 1:02 "Welcome to Versalife", 0:03 / 0:27 "World of Tomorrow". Maybe, I give things too much credit or have too much time on my hands, or maybe that's what makes some songs great.

  • Yeah the music makes you feel like you are part of that virtual world

  • Nah you don't have too much time. I completely agree. This kind of music is part of the total emersion that I love about this game. Masterpiece. The game and the music. You feel as if you're actually JC breaking in and sneaking around. It's an insane feeling.

  • @jok3rlives

Same here ::D Man i would love to play new stories, the graphics can stay the same. They are more scary in this way :D

Gosh if only i could erase my memory about DX...to start all over again.

  • @Sssagaman Oh I know!! I wish I could re-live the first time I played Deus Ex. A feeling like none other. And yeah the graphics do give a sence of vagueness that just works with the whole game. I'm really curious as to how DX3 will be. But nothing will ever compete with this one!

  • this track is fuckin creepy, i love it. when i first entered versalife i knew i was about to see some horrible stuff.

  • this track is wicked, the chorus bit of it is epic, love it!

  • The Deus Ex soundtrack does such an amazing job of relating to the environment, characters, and storyline situation. Versalife is one of my favorite tracks in the game just because it fits perfectly into the level.

  • deus ex, is the best game i played, and this music i like very.

  • "Welcome to Versalife, we make Tomorrow Look like Yesterday, how can I help you?"

  • music to this game is pure art

  • " Kill my boss, and i will tell you the code "

  • When I first heard this song, the first thing that popped into my head was "slick corporate espionage action" and that's what I got out of this mission. It was awesome that both the music and gameplay combined into one truly great experience. You generally don't get that from many games nowadays

  • the greatest game off all times, problably better than halo, halo is a good game and all but this game is way better

  • When I played DX the first time I was 15 yrs old and I wanted to be an employee in a company liek Versalife sitting in a dark office behind a computer working while this song is played in the background. Now I'm a programmer in a big company sitting in a dark office and this song is played on my iPod. =)

  • so your life's goal was to emulate a hapless computer tech, who was purposely infected with a deadly virus btw, who worked for the front of a nihilistic global conspiracy whose aim is to take over the world and make its leader a god? Fascinating. O.o

  • hahahahahahahaha

  • @1poiuztrewq2

    "I can't be bothered."

  • @1poiuztrewq2 no way i want ur life

  • @1poiuztrewq2 Why would you dream of being in a massive faceless multinational corporation slaving away at a cubicle for 10 hours a day? What the fuck is wrong with you?

  • @nollix

"What the fuck is wrong with you?"

    Nothing.. I make 100k a year.

  • @1poiuztrewq2 Nice. What do you do, CS/IT related?

  • @1poiuztrewq2 I make only 30k.

  • @1poiuztrewq2

What company pays you so much cash ? Yuppie! :]

  • @1poiuztrewq2 Nice all is left is a guy with an exclusive trench coat walking around with shade, Bullet proof vest and trouser (which many have never notice) and 'blue tattooed face. Asking you a question, you starting companying about your snob-ish boss wishing him dead and to you an unknown elevator your not aloud access to. xD

  • @1poiuztrewq2 sure u do

  • @1poiuztrewq2 This game pretty much inspired me to do something in bioengineering. I dropped photography (which I came 1st twice in a row) and took up all science topics. I am now 1st in three of them.

  • @1poiuztrewq2 Cool.

  • @1poiuztrewq2 OBEY, HONOR, RESPECT, DUTY, OBEY.

  • @1poiuztrewq2

hahahhaaha me too, but generally i play the unatco st =D

  • @1poiuztrewq2 hahaha best comment ever! :D

  • @1poiuztrewq2 Cool story bro. -.-

  • @CaptainSeasick

    Professional jealousy.

  • @CaptainSeasick super fucking jelous

  • "A dead corpse, i know exactly how you feel"

"You can't go in with arms or tools. Rules are rules."

    "Sold!"

  • "I was never properly trained in its operation"

  • Laugh it up Denton !

  • "..I see your heart beating. I see you are afraid." 2:05

  • "I wasn't informed of any visitors"

  • Versalife and the Labs are the best fun levels in this game you can get away with murder! releasing the greasels and the bum is great but enticing the grays out is awesome!

  • yeah, i slaughtered all the scientists with the dragons tooth, I left only the assistant ladies, the receptionist and the programmers alive. didnt feel a twinge of guild, they were all bastards.

  • the soundtracks of Deus Ex 2 where not as good as on Deus Ex 1. Not even close

  • Well at least they might get one thing right then.

  • I need access yo level 1 labs

are you the one they just cleared for level 1 labs?

  • Greaat news :)

  • You all will be happy to know that they got the same guy that did this awesome music to do the score for Deus Ex 3 (Alexander Brandon).

  • "..I see your heart beating. I see you are afraid."

  • i love the old music in games... most dont have it any more and if they do its songs to listen to but very few have this indiscrabeable music.....

  • This song gives me goosebumps as I remember my 1st. . .and all the way up to the 6th time through this game. Definately my favorite game of ALL-TIME!

I love how it ties in everything about Extraterrestrials, nanotechnology, NWO, and Mega corporations. Theorettically, the storyline, although conspiracy theory in nature, is very possible - but not as possible to prove. LOVE THIS GAME!!

  • Deus ex has some of the BEST music.Ever.

  • This, UNATCO, UNATCO Return, Nycitystreets_2, and lebedev airfield are my favs

  • I wish there were more games that involve corporation espionage like this mission of Deus Ex. One of the best missions in the whole game.

  • Another game like this that is about conspiracy would be Oni, loved it as well.

  • my favorite part is 1:03

  • ""when I hear this tune I wanna TRASH a mega corporation lol ""

haha yeah, ive found myself humming this music and thinking destructive thoughts while shopping at Wal-mart xD

  • At 2:05 is the best action music in the game.

  • its a shame it only plays for a short while... not enough enemies at vercalife.

    great game!

  • With music like this, I can see why everyone stayed at Versalife.

  • when i hear this tune i wanna work for a mega corporation...... oh man...

  • when I hear this tune I wanna TRASH a mega corporation lol

  • anyway we all wanna do something about a megacorporation! lol

BEST game ever and one of the most nostalgic themes.

    damn i wanna install it

  • REINSTALLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!

i just can t take this game out of my mind, snce the first time i played it...

    it never gets old!

  • I hear ya man. Not that I've played a whole lot of new fps/rpg single player games are DX, but I can't get it off my mind too

    And 1:16-1:26 is so nostalgic

    I can't love this game enough :P

  • Amen to that.

  • One of the best all round games i ve played , the interactive music is awesome ,the gameplay , the weapons ,the story ,the charectors, the locations .EVERYTHING IS AWESOME in this game.

  • REINSTALLING...

  • Best level in Deus Ex...nothing like killing MJ12 troops when they think you're on their side

  • I liked to camp up in the security room overlooking the hand and pick 'em off with a sniper rifle.

    Good times.

  • haha yeah :) good memories, this was one of my favourite levels...

  • awesome, always liked this track

  • @furryfedora But is the any track you don't like?
