I am so sick of this bogus complexity thing it ruins everything. Wargames never were too complicated. People are just lazy. That’s was playstation is for.
I think a big turn off for people with wargames is complexity. If rules are too complex it feels daunting to learn the, and you don't feel comfortable. On the other hand, it can't be coin flip easy. I felt like 3rd edition dnd was a good example of comple but not over the top, as opposed to the table top world of war craft knows and DnD 4th edition.
Here is the problem. In America, Historical gaming has been overrun with whining about complexity. There is not a discussion that doesn’t somewhere involve some reference to it. Nothing is fun anymore, it has to be coin flip simple and 2 minutes per game or people complain. I never bought the whole PC destroyed the hobby but these days I wish the American hobbyists would permanently switch to PC games so a market for some in depth detailed wargaming would return.
@Altier215 Flams of war is a good start. one of the best WW2 wargames. they cover early war, middle war and late war times of war world 2. go to there website. flames of war.
if anyone wanted to run this video somewhere to promote the hobby, go right ahead.
I am working on a bunch more such vids...but am considering offering them on CD, as it takes way too much time and I need to compensate for my efforts...
I think this is a reasonable thing to point out. Simply adding "military" before each instance of "history" in the video would correct this tiny error of definition. This change would be a good defence against possibly misleading younger viewers into taking an overly simplistic view of history.
Check out the book "Operation Warboard" by Lyall Gavin. Nice easy rules for WWII games. No wait, forget I said that cause now you will be bidding against me for ROCO minitanks on ebay.
I don't see too much historical wargaming at my local gaming club. It's mostly 40K,Net Epic (alternate epic 40k Titan Legions rules) or Warmachine. We used to have some WWII miniatures gaming going on with Blitzkrieg commander and FOW but the one guy who organized games and tournaments died last year and they haven't gamed since. I'd really like to get some ancients gaming going. Do you have any rules suggestions that are easy to purchase in the USA?
good vid , looks like you are a 25/28mm fan :-)
I think miniatures wargaming will always be around , despite computer gaming.

You are right about history so I changed the title a little to be more precise.
I am a fanatical miniatures painter and wanted to share my enthusiasm for the hobby.

Nice video indeed, but I couldn`t abtain myself commenting that history isn`t just about battles and boom-ish events.

Warhammer ancient battles is pretty easily available online.
Warhammer players will pick it up instantly.
