  • i dont think i want you to review your favorite stuff, i just want to know what they are. no explanation needed

  • 1..2..3 RAWPITA!

  • Where's Illmatic?

  • Nice list man.

  • Dead Kennedys + Ulver = Win

  • Anybody who doesn't mention GnR's universally acclaimed debut album is a hipster

  • @zabrak999 No, they simply hold a superior taste in music.

  • @AmadeusExcello

    >doesn't like an album that got universal acclaim

    hello wrong taste

  • @zabrak999 um.

  • yeah the mahavishnu album is a pretty good fusion album but I much prefer weather report's heavy weather. to me, john mclaughlin's playing is too fast and abrasive. jaco pastorius is far more interesting to listen to.

  • No Is This It???

  • @PattyGreendale

No I think he's talking about good albums in this video

  • mogwai- young team. obvious but true

  • black moon, what a shout!

  • My english teacher borrowed me Fresh fruit & rotten vegetables when I was like 10 years old; best english lesson he ever taught me. I never gave it back.

  • "Turn On The Bright Lights" by Interpol is the best debut album in the history of music.

  • The Strokes' Is This It?

  • You should totally do this weekly, or at least once a month. Doesn't even have to be debut albums, just random songs from any decade/genre you want to recommend. :)

  • no unknown pleasures = .-.

  • Why don't you just do a "classic" album once every month?

  • @JuxtaposeMystery i like this idea

  • how the f*ck have i never heard of Squarepusher and never gave Mahavishnu Orchestra a chance?? I just absolutely love the two of them! thanks anthony! especially MO are exactly what i was looking for musically at the moment.

and the last few words at the end of your video are words to the wise: "screw genre, screw what you already think you like, check them out"

i would subscribe (if i hadn't already done so) just for that sentence. (=

  • I absolutely love that you had Dead Kennedys on this list. That is so so awesome!

  • Hell yeah! Dead Kennedy's. I'll check out those other albums though, expand my horizons.

But... Could u possibly review "d" by white denim? I don't think u would be disappointed. It came out yesterday.

    Rock on forever.

  • With seeing pablo honey by radiohead in this video. It just made me want to say that it would have to be my top one favourite album by radiohead but also maybe behind the bends :)

  • you are a boss man!

  • My personal picks, obvious as hell and in no order

In the Court of the Crimson King

    Ramones

    Is This It

    The Velvet Underground & Nico

    Music From Big Pink

Honourable shout outs to 36 Chambers, Kill 'Em All and Endtroducing....

  • about time you did something about squarepusher :3

  • Ulver changed. A LOT! I like it, but...

  • feed me weird things FTW.

  • All great in my opinion apart from the ulver one I can't get into metal (2deep4me)

  • best debut album of all time is In the Court of the Crimson King for me. Good call on the DK and Ulver suggestions :) I've actually never heard the Squarepusher debut, should hear that, thanks! :)

  • cw stoneking

  • Love Ulver and Bergtatt is probably their best album next to maybe Blood Inside. How many bands can do a complete 180 with their sound and be just as good? Ulver is definitely one.

  • Thanks for the recommendations, specially for squarepusher im loving that one!

  • Can this segment be like a daily thing? I'd like to be introduced to great artist that don't get talked about much

  • "turn on the bright lights," full stop, no apologies, best debut

  • MAHAVISHNU changed my live when I was 12

  • @theneedledrop please review The Color Morale's new album, My Devi ln Your Eyes.

  • @Treggify noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • @xHXCMAYOKIDx back off.

  • @Treggify no that album was awful

their first album was great, but this one was like bleghh

it sounded like everything else I've listened to

  • @xHXCMAYOKIDx I'm so in love with it. They're my favorite band, and have been since 09.

  • @Treggify ...sorry for offending u...

  • Anthony please tell everyone about the new civil civic LP fundraising campaign- PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE

  • i unsubbed just because you said "a whole nother"

    jk, i love you

  • "Ulver" is actually scandinavian for "Wolfs".

The Album, Bergtatt, directly translated means "Mountain Taken" or "Taken by the Mountain".

Finally the track listed in the description, "Ind i Fjeldkammrene", translates to "Into the Mountain Chambers".

Also, am I wrong in assumeing it's a Danish band?

  • danger mouse and daniele luppi

  • Do you ever talk about the artwork or packaging of a release if it is somewhat unique or nice?

  • Review Necro- Die. Its contrast to all of his other material is astounding

  • Hey Anthony, Have you ever heard Wolfmother's self titled debut? It's one of my favourite albums ever! It's great.

  • Nice call on Dead Kennedys' Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables - my favourite DK album and one I play too much!

  • Ok Look, I comment on a bunch of your videos and you don't respond and that's fine but I want you to review 2 albums or one. Just please do it.

    Mexico 70 - Thirty-Five Whirlwinds Below Sound

    The Wildbirds - Golden Daze

    DO IT.

  • fugazi

  • Show your arm tattoo.

  • oasis-definetly maybe

    arcade fire-funeral

arctic monkeys-whatever people say i am

    the strokes-is this it

    stone roses-stone roses

  • I had a dream with you in it, Anthony.

Don't worry, I'm creeped out too.

  • Your thoughtfulness just cost me five hours of sleep muthalicka. I appreciate it nonetheless.

  • tribe called quest is west coast bro

  • @coughlintm

Wooow no Tribe is NYC. And I quote "If the Quest don't look good, then Queens won't look good. But since the sounds are universal, New York won't look good"

  • @coughlintm A Tribe Called Quest is from New York "bro". Harlem & Jamaica, Queens to be exact. Don't be trying to correct people if you don't know the facts yourself. Makes you look dumb.

  • @coughlintm 0/10

  • I had a dream last night where I met you at Coachella and you tried to sell me 40mg Adderall.

  • Another haircut?

  • Squarepusher's - "Feed Me Weird Things" is definitely a classic album.

  • You should get a ventrilaquist doll. I think it would be funny to see a ventrilaquist speaking opinions on album reviews from the mainstream review stand point, and then seeing Cuchesta choking him out like Bart Simpson when he disagrees.

  • I like the Fugazi album in the back round.

  • Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

    Arcade Fire - Funeral

    Portishead - Portishead

Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights

    Pixies - Surfer Rosa

  • @IUmTheMaan and by Portishead I meant Dummy.

  • Love black metal Ulver era.

  • Can you review the band Katabasis? (unsigned death metal band). The Demo is simply titled '2011 Demo'. You can find it for free on bandcamp via katabasis.bandcamp.com

  • Thumbs for fugazi in background!

  • hell yes..Ulver!

  • Anthony, I would like to hear your opinion on the latest Lady Gaga album. Does it live up to the hype? Could it be referred to as her magnum opus? Or does it feel like a flop?

  • thnx for black moon its epic stuff as well as squarepusher

  • Anthony, review GusGus - Arabian Horse

  • Hey Anthony, what do you think of Bitches Brew?

  • Weird that you put Black Moon's debut album instead of Enter the Wu-Tang 36 Chambers or Illmatic.

  • @hustlerlt84 now there's a hipster-like response lol. learn your hip-hop. black moon is just as important as those two.

and nas has other great albums besides illmatic.

  • @LaLaGrunge Did I say that Black Moon is a bad rap group?I was just saying that Illmatic and 36 Chambers were a lot better debut albums. Also how does my comment sound hipster-like?Many people who listen to rap still think to this day that there isn't a better album released than Illmatic.

  • @LaLaGrunge That is really ironic considering your post was WAYYY more hipster-like than Hustlerlt84's. Ya know, telling someone to "learn your hip hop" and being a condescending douchebag for no reason.

  • @Illmatic1988 Nah, I think not. Black Moon was had already garnered recognition at the time for that record. It influenced guys like Biggie and Mobb Deep. I had that fuckin album in the mid-90s growing up with the genre. i remember.

It was only until about a decade ago where hipsters acknowledged that hip-hop was a genre that deserved attention and soon enough, began dickriding Wu Tang Clan, Nas, MF Doom and Jay Dee. I just got a kick out of Hustlers' post and the nas/wu-tang faction bs.

  • Overall I am feeling a strong 5 to a light 6. the rap was dece for rap. punk = meh. ulver was meh as well and the squarepusher track was like spastic jazzy flatulents. The MO was pretty sweet tho. I should give them more of a look see.

  • How is called that song, the one that always sounds at the end of your videos??

  • If you are not aware of it, Anthony. The new Ulver album is not black metal like Bergtatt (if that is the reason for not reviewing it). Because, you know, they did stop playing BM in the late 90s. They have only made two BM albums :)

  • @sorrycaps and one EP ;) (vargnatt)

  • I bet this dude has a 160GB iPod and its filled with music

  • i believe "Bergtatt" is pronounced as "behr-taat"

  • @NeonFoxLetsPlays Almost. Berg-taat. The G is there.

  • @sorrycaps yes but isn't the g silent in Norwegian?

  • So what is your favorite Squarepusher album?

  • I am a huge hip-hop fan and I never listened to Enta Da Stage. It is ridiculously incredible.

  • This was cool man, do more videos like this, it adds a nice dynamic to TND.

  • You should've choosen 6 albums and then include ITCOTCK.

  • haha hobo with a shotgun is insane!

  • Weezer - Weezer (The Blue Album)

    The Cars - The Cars

    Bad Brains - Bad Brains

George Harrison - All Things must Pass

Pixies - Surfer Rosa (despite Come on Pilgrim coming out first, but that's technically an EP)

  • Anthony, if you haven't already listened to it, I can greatly recommend the new Wye Oak LP, 'Civilian'. Lazy Shoe Gaze Folk, it's really lovely.

  • Great call on The Inner Mounting Flame, The Noonward Race is one hell of a track but after the next album Birds Of FIre they went to shit

  • You should DEFINITELY review the debut album by a band called zeus. the album is called say us. its very good. My friend took me to see hobo with a shotgun..... i did not know what grind house was..... end of story.

also loving the squarepusher one, thanks!

  • Thanks for recommending Squarepusher

I knew fusion existed but i never really knew were to start

    Im in love with Squarepusher

  • I actually just saw ulver live for the first time. Absolutely amazing, even though I haven't gotten too much into their newest album. The vocalist played on an ipad during the whole concert. Kind of funny if one remember that they started out as black metal. Anyway, it's pronounced "berg tat", in two syllables. The word is pretty common in norwegian language, but I guess it initially derives from folklore when someone was captured and taken into the mountain.

  • Coldplay - Parachutes

    Keane - Hopes & Fears

The Stone Roses - Stone Roses

    Bloc Party - Silent Alarm

    aaaaand..... Arcade Fire - Funeral

  • @AntiJonasZone >.> Sorry, guys, should have spaced those out better.

  • Where is Rage Against The Machine's Rage Against The Machine?

  • some essential debut albums for me:

  • Marquee Moon.

  • Would love to hear your opinion on Blue Scholars' Cinémetropolis.

  • @theneedledrop You definetely should do something like this more often. You know that "one take-wednesday" episode on the RiO!B? What about a "Classics Thursday" or something on the needle drop? Go for it man. And yeah, I know that this isn't "the point" of this channel because you wanna bring new music to us. But as you said, maybe some people really don't know any of these "old" albums.

    3. Jay-Z-Resonable Doubts

    4. U2- Boy

    5. The White Stripes

  • Five Leaves Left? : (

  • @MrCloudid Drake FTW

  • You should do this on weekends I think: put up short videos with you suggesting some older albums, maybe some personal favorites of yours

  • a person who listened to the first Ulver album and then put on something more recent would be very confused and assume there had been two bands, a creative artsy black metal band and a band that I can't really put into a genre or 3 or 8, every album is it's own special sauce, Anthony should at the very least review this track watch?v=CPYy6eXsTCc

  • goldfrapp: "felt mountain" .... they've never topped it and i don't think they ever will.

  • What are your thoughts on Rundgren?

Black Moon was awesome. What was, that... Summer/fall '94?

  • Dead Kennedys! Woooh! Swag, love the first one good but i love the second LP to death!

  • also is there a way you could give more of a heads up when you're about to review an album (like a end part of another review). give a brief description and say you're going to review it soon?

I don't know, I find myself having much more fun listening to the album when I don't know exactly what you think about it or what you rated it

  • i really liked this thing without the rating system.

    just recommendations

could you do more of this?

  • MORE JAZZ

  • Two words on debuts: PINK FLAG.

  • Hobo With a Shotgun is a masterpiece.

  • Good call on the Black Moon album. It's been one of my favorites for a while now.

  • No love for the Velvet Underground and Nico?

  • Dead Kennedys FTW!

  • Fugazi - Repeater hanging on the right.... awesome album. Awesome band.
