of all the Cockatoos, Moluccans love water. they need it and crave it. their water bowls have to be changed many times a day. they should be sprayed with warm water mist daily and showered twice a week. our Peaches freeks out if she doesn't have her bath/shower water bowls rations all of the time. FT
i have a sulpher cockatoo, so he doest have alot of feathers like a moluccan, so when he gets out of the shower should he naturally dry off or should i dry him off myself?
I was thinking the same thing. My M2 doesn't have his wings clip and they are so beautiful. He actually looks just like this. But if you take them outside it is much safer to have the wings clipped.
This is so fabulous!!!!!!!!!! He LOVES his showers!!!! So beautiful. I hope that someday my U2 will love her showers as much as Romeo! Maybe if she had Romeo to shower with...? :)
I showered my budgie(not directly in the shower but under it so straw water ratehr than the shower hit him lightly) the mist.. setting nad he got sick after.. but he is ok now .. tough bugger.. good thing it was summer! I didnt' disturb him for a few days and kept his cage covered partially..
We have a sun conure, tiger, and he LOVES water, he's not too good at copying humans when they speak, but I'm pretty sure he's says"oh goody" whenever we put the water in his cage
Okay, i need a suggestion. I've had an umbrella for about 8 years and he is terrified of water. I'm assuming he had a bad experience when he was little. How can i get him to do this!!
you probably wont get him to enjoy his shower like Romeo does if he doesn't like it now. he'll just have to tolerate it. My macaws hate the shower but I still put them in and they tolerate but I know they will never really like it
You can try a misting him with a plant mister too. Just spray up, and let the mist fall on him. He may like that better than a shower. My GSC2 really only likes showers with the hose. He'll tolerate the bathtub and sink and gets bored by a mister. Every bird is different. Fact is, they have to have a bath. It's good for their skin, and the powder from their down can end up causing them respiratory problems over time.
I have a U2 that didn't like water... at first. I started with the mister and made it fun-- gave lots of praise "good bird takin a shower." Eventually, I was able to bring her in the shower with me. She asks Good girl? Yes! We go in the shower about 1/wk and use the mister other days. Hope this helps.

Have you cut the wings of this bird to prevent him from flying? That's really bad.
