  • And majority of US don't like this ?

  • Who says Americans can't play the beautiful game. yeah we sucked in WC 2006 but we did better in WC 2010. USA!

  • the sound may be gone but Thank YOU for sharing History!

  • no muse???

  • I freaking LOOOOVED this vid but wth happened to the audio!?!?

  • fuck youtube

    this is the us soccer vid i've ever seen

  • whats wrong with the audio? i cant hear it........

  • fucking youtube.... the audio on this was awesome

  • Comment removed

  • the reason American Football is called football is because when the game first originated, there was a lot of kicking. That was one of the ways to advance the ball and score points (like rugby I guess).

    That is the explanation, go tell the world!

  • thanks for the explanation

  • @juaosouto rugby has the official name 'rugby football' - they are all various codes of football... soccer, nfl, rugby league and union, gaelic football, aussie rules etc all the different versions of games designed in schools with the premise that young men should have something to do that is organised team sports - stop the workers drinking in their spare time - instill the virtues of team sport, health and fitness and above all comoradery - togetherness, you might say they were weapons of war

  • The word soccer actually comes from the UK. Mid to late 19th century, soccer was a term used to describe "asSOCiation rules" football, while "rugger" was the term used to describe "rugby rules" football. The name of the game really isn't that important.

  • yeah. his name is Charles Wreford-Brown. the english should look him up if they want to see just invented the word soccer.

  • audio?

  • I dont think America really represents what these players are playing for.

    They're not playing for a reason to boast like most Americans might think. I think people that only truley love this sport could tell they're plaaying as hard as they are for respect among a=toher countries. We've been made fun of forour ability for too long. I think they're all sick of it.

  • And heres a tip when dealing with most American comments on youtube: They're mainly made by people who have no idea what they're watching.

    But they decide, hey I heard US beat/tied Argentina the other day and they're the number 1 team in the World. I guess we're number 1. And they decide to go to a youtube video or their friend and boast about it like they understood the situation. Just another way to build their image of the US.

    Although America is getting good. We deserve that respect.

  • sorry for my shit spelling. =/

  • Spain is 1 but Arg. is in top 10 i believe. USA!!!!

  • weren't they number 1 when we tied them?

  • I dont know have to look it up.

  • soccer, what the fuck is soccer?

    it is called FOOTBALL you schmucks!

  • It's the sport that's important. Not the name.

    Danke.

  • but the name also has something to do with it.

    Football is the true name of the sport.

    1. because you use your foot to kick the ball..

    2. it was the original name.

    I don't know where the name soccer came from, but football is the right name for it.

  • I know you know this, but I'll say it anyway: it's called soccer here because there is another infinitely more popular sport here also called "football" (for reasons surpassing understanding).

    Anyways, get over it... we don't get all bent out of shape when Englishman do retarded things like call Santa Claus "Father Christmas."

  • haha, that's true.

    and yeah, I just think the name soccer doesn't suit the actual game.

    for example, football can be called handball, since you throw the ball, but whatever, it's not as I can change the name.

    and "Father Christmas"?

    I didn't know they called him that

  • Yeah, I've tried to think of what might be a better name for American Football, and I could only come up with "Smash Your Face Ball," but I think that's too long.

  • I don't agree dude. The name can give you info about what the sport is for people who never played that's about it.

    But I agree it would make more sense to call it football and would solve a lot of problems i guess.

    For the people that love it though they know what it's called all around the world and even though it's a different word its the same game and it shouldn't matter what the word is.

  • really good video

  • I stayed up untill 2:00 to watch the US play Nigeria at the Olympics. They led the group and only needed a tie or a win to advance. All I have to say is fuck that idiot on the US team who got red carded in the FOURTH minute for a dumbshit frustration foul.We played a man down the whole game because of that moron and are now out of the Olympics. At least it wasnt the World Cup though...Go USA

    A true US Soccer fan!!!

  • the worst was the late goal to the dutch though. they would have been in if it werent for that lucky roll.

  • @HerculesRockefellerr Michael Orozco and he's nowhere near the team now as a result.

  • At the end of the day americans dont like i do who cares

  • Whats the song called?

  • "Hysteria" by Muse

  • It doesnt matter if you call it Soccer or football, it's a beautiful game. Dont let the thing that unites us separate us!

  • Well said.

  • "Football is not a matter of life and death, is more important than that" :D

  • This is one of my favorite videos to watch....

  • I love this sport more than anything in life. I live and die for football and i tried to watch every game I can of America. Even though we are not rank as one of the best and we still under perform against bigger teams (sometimes though, because we draw a hell of a game against Argentina) I believe that one day we can become a power house like Germany, Brazil, or Argentina.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~GO USA~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • no dude you have it wrong
    you are American if you believe any of that stuff
    because in American we can believe what we want (i know the same can be said of other countries too)
    but they have that right to speak freely and assemble in groups of 22 and play each other
  • are you saying that they can't speak freely when they are not playing football? if you are you are severly mistaken
  • rcde4ever, there is a difference between arrogance and fact......this is totally of topic now, and half of your arguments aren't factual and therefore have little legitimacy.
  • rcde did you say that the EU was a world power? Cause then you just lumped an assload of countries into one and when you do that you could make anyone a world power.
  • what is the name of the country your from? UNITED States of America
    what is the name of the group of countries in europe?
    European UNION
    both are united and practically work as one
  • well i am an american
    and i do say america is best country in the world
    but i think everyone else in the world be them from england france germany ghana they all should believe their country is the best
  • haha
    i love the general racism toward americans
    oh your american i hate you then
    i fucking hope everyone in every country believes their country is the best too
    why not believe that
    dont sell yourself short
    tell yourself that
    we do
  • I don't know if you were directing this to me but if you were, i Am American and i love my country despite the fact that it is The US...
    and as for thinking your country is the best, think what you want... most people think the same about their country, and the only time theyll say it is during sports or if your american during wars.... and everything else they are involved with
    but if you say that so seriously, you sound really arrogant and make your country look bad
  • I don't really think that your American if you belief that we are arrogant, selfish, or any of those things. We are one of the best countries in the world and if it wasn't true then i wonder why so many people like to come here.
    This is the only country in the world in where you can be anyone you want no matter who you are. tell me any other country you can do that.
  • so many people like from mexico, south america, and asia correct? And then the government tries to stop them from getting in.... and once they do get in they are persecuted by americans.
    Listen to imdelightful he/she knows what theyre talking about, I am american
    as for other countries
    England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Canada.... etc etc, you prolly have never even been outside the US
  • England is such a bullshit: you never been there then, i have. if your parents aren't rich and don't send you to a good school to learn "high English" (is a form in which only rich people talk)you won't make it into a rich society and will have less job oportunities.
    Japan is even worst, many of my friends are from there. from the moment you go to school you're already level in grades and if you mess in any grade then there goes your chances of a great college
    Canada...They wish to come here.
  • Also that we are at this time the world power...
  • i agree.... except the world power thing
    unless you were being sarcastic but if you werent
    what about China, EU, UK, Russia, India, and in the future, Brasil?
  • Sarcasm to an extent, due to our economy at this point.......But individually as military power no country has proven yet that they stand a chance
  • I don't Know, China's military ended up dividing Korea..... come to think of it Why don't we take out real threats like North Korea and stop messing around with insurgents in Iraq? Heyyy...... we haven't beaten those insurgents yet..... or the Taliban who are back.... and Al Qaeda is still alive too... what about the Viet Cong or Those pesky rebels in Somalia?
    I don't disagree with the American military being the best, but it doesnt make the US THE world power.....
  • people*
  • Most poeple imply that because, you are free to be what you want and believe in whatever you want, and pursue any career you wish and have more freedoms than any other country....Where have you been?
  • I hate the arrogance we as americans share
    "we belogn to the greatest country in the world"?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?! NO WONDER EVERYONE HATES US
    the stupid things we say and think
  • if they hate us because of that
    im proud to be an american
  • you are stupid.... no wait, you are american
  • Hey Spainard
    don't pick a fight u can't win
  • hey american, if you read on my profile it says half-american.
    and if you think you can threaten me over a youtube comment you don't scare me, in the end i know the defintion of arrogance
    anyway dude, i really don't want another america fight on youtbue so lets just drop it
    peace bro
  • peace
  • True.
  • SCREW ALL OF U USA HATERS!
    US OWNS
  • USA KICKS ASS
    SCREW ALL HATERS
  • I Believe the US MNT is one great team that believe in themself and that they aren't some individuals who tried to show off. We have a great team that goes out there and play with their heart not to win glory or show them self off but to win the respect that our team deserves.
    ~~~~~~~~~~ GO USA~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • wow, argentina had so many chances to win the game. if you guys just watched it, you'll agree. the u.s. is getting better i must agree. but if they are going to be as good as teams like argentina, its going to take a few decades, most likely more.

  • Youre hero messi didnt do a dam thing against us!!

  • ok guys, we belong to the greatest country on earth. ok...one...two...three...USA sucks at soccer!!

  • thats why they tied with the #1 team in the world last night right?

  • let me explain. argentina had 3 clear opportunities on goal. their finishing was horrible and tim howard or whatever his name is... was put in an easy to save those shots. maybe you should watch games before you make statements that aren't entirely true.

  • haha bardock is it hard to accept that the US tied argentina?

  • You can play a defensive game in a friendly and still tie. Example Guatemala vs Brazil

    1997, ended in a draw. Do you think this would happend in a world cup? Nope!

  • no no they lost to them remember 1-0 spain beat them

    they also lost to england a team that hasnt qualified for the eurocup but ill give them the benefit of the doubt since england has a wicked master of a coach right now

  • European football is better.

    Why else do all the remotely good US players play in England? Keller, Howard, McBride etc

  • I don't think anyone can really argue that claim. The Premier League in my opinion is the top flight in the world.

    Champion's League this year really help that claim.

    However, MLS has been improving its quality pretty consistently. No where near EPL level, but a top MLS team could probably rest in the mid\bottom table of the Premier.

  • msybe, but i hate watching the mls. there's no finess, and the ball keeps losing posetion easily. oh, and the names got to go. la galaxy? chicago fire? those are names that would be most suited for rec leagues.

  • So by your logic an MLS team would be in the upper part of the table in La Liga or Serie A. Thats funny! lol....

  • Yeah but some of the teams they play are at the buttom of the table.And some us players will to play in the English second division, since their teams got relegated. ;)

  • Ive watched this countless times, MAJOR goosebumps EVERY time!

  • i love the shot of gooch staring down borgetti

    borgetti knows hed get demolished. lol

  • lol yeah, that's why he jumps right up in his face... and then walks off. when he's standing right next to him looking up at Gooch, he reality dawned on him. Gooch would kill him.

  • Wow. Do they know what soccer is in the US? Damn ...

  • Am I the only one who thinks coach Bradley is donig a great job. No more playing Trinidad and Tabago for 4 years untill the world cup. Next up England. Not to mention wins in Switzerland, Poland, and South Africa!

  • nah man I totally agree with you. this team is playing great. Donovan really stepped his game up, I feel like 2010 will be the year we at least advance past the qualifying stages into the bracket. 2006 was a huge dissapointment, but we will bounce back.. weve been playing world class talent and tying them, beating them, or giving them a hell of a fight (*see brazil)

    Altador is a beast.. Dempsey is great, Gooch is solid, and timmy howard is back.. keller was garbage.

  • Keller was great in his day but he's getting old and his reaction seems to be slowing. he's definitely done with the Nats. Howard is the man.

    ps - it's Altidore, not Altador.

  • fucking phenomenal video...GO USA

  • cannot wait!!!

    England V United states

    MARCH 28TH

    Wembley stadium

    London,England

    GO ENGLAND!!!

    but good luck to the US soccer team too

  • that would be May 28.

  • lol yeah i know

    i read the thing wrong lol

  • Everyone go out and support your MLS team. I just cant stand when people say, "the EPL, or La Liga is so much better than the MLS"... Of course it is! haha. There are hundreds of leagues in the world, the MLS is probably in the top 25. Why do we have to have the BEST league in order to support? Go out and sing some songs, have some drinks and enjoy the great sport. If soccer ever got big in the large warm american cities Miami,LA,New Orleans,Pheonix,etc..) we would find much more talent

  • KANSAS CITY WIZARDS! wooo! =D

  • NEW YORK!!!!

  • i like all the MNT players.

    they r soo united!!!USA USA

  • I love my national team! Favorite player Brain McBride, to bad he's getting up their in age. Other than McBride it's gotta be Dempsey. I can't wait for the game against Poland. It'll be a good test to see how players like Micheal Bradely and Jozi play against another European team.

  • they have spain on june 4th. i cant wait for that game. that will be a huge test for us. if we win that i think the world will really start to respect us and accept us as a soccer nation.

  • But you won't win. Sorry to break it to you. Your only chance is for Arogonnes to field a weak team in preparation for EuroCup.

    Good luck though, you'll need it as Spain is fantastic when not in pressure games.

    Against England though you got a chance. They are slow!

  • lol what does it matter if someone can win in "not pressure games." everybody can!

  • Im going to the US Sweden game saturday night at home depot center.Cant wait.I hope Dempsey plays.

  • Dempsey and Beasly are my favourite players on the USA team because i see them every week in the Premiership and SPL. They are very talented and both have great styles of soccer:) USA vrs Mexico is always great to watch!!!!

  • i went to usa vs china this past summer in san jose CA ,all us fans !! we fucking love our national team in the bay !!! go usa !!!!!

  • The sport is on the rise in the US. I'm from Michigan and all we do here is play hockey in winter and soccer when the snow melts. Hopefully they do well in 2010 i'll be watching MLS in the meantime.

  • i loved onyewu rockin the crap out of borgetti lol

  • Football can stop wars. In Iraq the people were celebrating as one when their team became Asian Champs. That's what a sport can do.

  • Didn't several people die in those celebrations from men firing machine guns in the air and the bullets raining down on them?

  • If any people died then they must have been

    impersonating birds -- didn't you say they fired the guns in the air in celebration ? I think what the poster was saying is that sport has a part to play in promoting peace -- I think that poster had a valid point.

  • It's great to see how football is developing in America and gaining popularity. You know, a national football team is really representing you around the world. If you do well, people will admire you for that, if you fail, you'll get made fun of. The rest of the world doesn't give a f*ck about baseball/basketball/American "Football" etc.

    P.S.: please call it by it's real name, football that is.

  • Yo have a decent point, but soccer is a valid name for the sport. Its an English word, short for Association Football, which is what Football\Soccer is. Theres also Rugby Football, Austrialian Football, and American Football. Soccer came about because the English also had Rugby Football (rugger). Since then Rugby became the most used term world round but that doesn't negate the usage of soccer. Football is just the more common usage. A rose by any other name is still a rose.

  • Yeah, but to me (and many people) it just sounds like Americans want to have their own special words you know? Like they're different to the rest of the world even though it's exactly the same sport. And personally I hate the word soccer, but maybe that's just me ;) I still don't understand why it's called 'American football' when it looks much more like rugby; why not call it 'American rugby'? I guess I'm just thinking too much haha ;)

  • what phynet said ^

  • I am with LindavG on this. I too dislike the name soccer and always have. It is like giving that american sport top notch position. So-called 'soccer' is the only ball game which is played solely with feet and thereore deserves the name FOOTBALL. Furthermore, a BALL is round not that sausage shape thing rugby uses.

  • Yeah but why not call a rose "rose"....

    Tennis is also an English word, LOL

    LindavG was spot on. "Soccer" as you call it is pure foot to ball.... no hands so let's give it the right name FOOTBALL... ---BILLIONS of poeple can't be wrong.

  • the English call it "chips" and we call them "fries" and nobody gives a crap or complains that we call them something different. see how ridiculous your argument sounds? it just gives people from other countries a reason to complain about us. only it makes you guys look kind of stupid. you DO realize that we've been calling it "soccer" for years and none of us living today actually named it that, right?

  • pay the silly brits no mind

    most of them dont even know that the word "soccer" originated in the UK as a short word for "association football"

  • Great to song! And great to see that there are some Americans that love real football :)

  • love the song by muse and the team. I hope i can play for them when im older!

  • We need more chants, songs, cheers etc.

    "USA, USA, USA" is getting tired

    May I suggest The Battle Hymn of the Republic?

     Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on.

  • No, that's Manchester United's chant.

  • really? something else then. we need a song!

  • Battle Cry of Freedom would do well.

  • how about Bombs over bagdad- outkast lololol

  • This is a GREAT video!

  • When McBride gets up from that header... wow...

  • This video is just fucking awesome.

  • can't wait till the next world cup, usa will do much better.

  • muse isnt big at all in the us. they get no radio airplay here

  • that sucks, they are amazing, probably the best modern band to see live at the moment by far

  • muse are my favourite band so well done. didnt realise they were big in america.

  • Donovan and Beaz' are the best

  • why the hell is everyone talking about basketall?

  • In basketball in the US a NBA championship is seen as a bigger acheivement than a gold medal.

  • nobody cares about international basketball

  • donovan!!!!!!!!! he will rule the gold cup wc qualifying and....THE 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP

  • GRREEAATT!!!!! video

    The US soccer players show so much more heart and grit than almost all of the pro players from US pro sports. Forget baseball & basketball (football's still pretty good), I'm watching soccer!

  • maybe be cuz this is a world wide thing and its natural to show heart in these sort of events. so i dont understand why you try to compare this to the pro sports IN the U.S.

  • I compare this to pro US sports because of things like the last olympics. Very few of our best NBA basketball players were willing to represent our country. The result, we placed third behind Italy and Argentina, in basketball! Also, even when the McBrides, Dempseys, Chings, and Onyewus are not playing for the US team, they show the same heart.

  • problem with the basketball team is they put an all-star team out there, not a "team" that has role players and that can win together, not see who can jump higher. if they put it back to U-20, we'd dominate easily.

  • yeah exactly, USA is with outa doubt the most talented coutnry in teh world when it comes to basketball, no other country even comes close. the very best players from other countries all try to make it in teh nba and the nba is still 90% american

  • why didn't they want to represent their country? just curious.

    id think you would be proud to represent if given the chance, an honor not a privilege...

  • kenny cooper, definetley not. hopefully we can have johnson and altidore at tip form by 2010 and we'll be sick and usa is gonna win da copa and da gold cup

  • just finishing listening to them on urge...but I still think AFI stay better. Love this song though man thanx a bunch!!

  • what is this song?

  • I really hope one day US soccer team, and players will become a "football" nation, like in Europe or south america. Your country deserves a great football team ( and please forget "soccer", and rename your old dirty sport with something else lol

  • idk but he has so much potential and it seems like hes wasting it without mcbride we need him to be our top striker and besides i feel he has a better upside then twellman or ching

  • i'm hoping Kenny Cooper will be our guy

  • im hopin donovan will make a huge comeback in 2010 and show all the donovan haters what he is reaally made of

  • does anyone know what's been wrong with eddie johnson?

  • lol, that damn turf toe (i'm being sarcastic... i have no clue what's wrong with him)

  • he's just in a slump. he needs to prove himself this summer or he may find himself not playing for his country again.

  • This is a great video.

    Lol give me a break, Onyewu would destroy Blanco in a heartbeat.

  • get ready for us vs ecuador on espn2 in for fucking days

  • what do u gyz think about reyna turning fc barcelona down to continue college? plz reply

  • I think it was smart what if he broke his fucking leg and couldnt play anymore at 22 what would he fall back on and screw barcelona Liverpool beat them lol

  • eh, he's old. i could care less. i just wanna get Donovan over to Europe pleeeease.

  • nooooooo! stay in MLS where i could watch him, besides he's good without europe

  • i love watching him too, but he's good without Europe? he was probably our most disappointing player in the World Cup. i'm a big donovan fan - i'm not picking on him. i like him and think he's valuable, so i want him to be the best he can be for our national team. the MLS just isn't doing it.

  • donovan said he probably won't be in the copa america due to his club

  • ISP you do realize its not called, where your from ball its called football i dont care where your from if you can play you can play

  • Onyewu is a fuckin pussy, he didnt stare borgetti down....plus Onyewu tries act like hes a thug only cuz borgetti is a skinny player..Onyewu wouldn't stare Cuauhtemoc Blanco down cuz he grew up from the streets, true thug.

    Onyewu little rich boy from the subs..

  • i hate the Mexican team they are all extremely dirty, ruthless players and have no talent...Onyewu could destroy anyone on the mexican team

  • Usa have the talent but not the heart for the game not yet but one day =]

  • yeah ur right

  • i love usa soccer but they just made a date with china on june 2nd on espn2, there will be a big problem in 2010 if we don't play powerhouses

  • You do realize the USA is playing in the Copa America this year right? More than likely this will also lead to an invite to the 2009 Copa. If you want powerhouses, you got it. Not to mention the USA will most likely be participating in the Confederations Cup (depending onhow they do in either the Gold Cup or Copa)

  • im sure we will do pretty well in Copa America. We most likely won't win but Im sure we will have a good performance.

  • This video is awesome but i would watch it just to see Onyewu stare Borghetti down.Simply Awesome

  • I was in Germany when the US played the Germans in the 2002 World Cup. Pretty much everything shut down that day and they had huge screens in the street with everybody off work that day watching it. Even though we lost it was a great time spent with the Germans drinking their beer. I look forward to great things in 2010 and hope we at least get to the finals... We have alot of work to do but we can make it a reality...

  • Great vid! It would be nice to see a CONCACAF team win the WC one day so that this part of the world can get some respect. For US success in 2010 we badly need quality strikers that can beat defenders 1 on 1 and attacking midfielders that can individually unlock defenses and create scoring opportunities. WC '06 we had possession but nothing to show for it. Defense and keepers are our strong points and will get the job done along side a pacy and creative offense.
