James Dean Hicks wrote this song for kenny, I like James Dean Hick's version better. I took a writing class with Hicks.... really good guy, he also writes song for Billy Ray Cyrus, and the only thing I don't like is that he writes for Miley Cyrus too (Although he says shes a good girl).

My grandfather died right before Christmas 2008, (2yrs ago) Every time i listen to this song it brings tears to my eyes. I miss him dearly and i love him more than anything! My granddad just passed this sunday from Cancer. 72 years young. The year we found out he had cancer he built a garage, and a patio. In the end it was horrible to see the man that built those not being able to care for himself. I stayed with my granddad for weeks on end helping my grandma take care of him. My papa meant a lot to me. He died of Colan Cancer almost 6 yrs ago. Even though he is gone for now, I know that I will see him again one day. I carry all of the good memories with me and will tell my kids about him as well. You can never love someone too much while they are still here with us.

What a nice tribute to your grandfather! I love this song too, I think of my grandpa everytime I hear it. He was 98 when he passed a few years ago and was a wonderful man and I miss him very much. Kenny Chesney also sang a song called "Where Did the Years Go" which is another beautiful song about the relationship we have with our grandpa's.

In the end it was horrible to see the man that built those not being able to care for himself. I stayed with my granddad for weeks on end helping my grandma take care of him. Now he'll be watching over my whole family. I put this song in the video I made for his funeral. Best granddad he ever chould've been. R.I.P Granddad

My daughter was my father's number one fan. She worshipped the ground he walked on-no one was bigger than life to her than him. He went home in 1999 and she lost a friend. She went to be with in May 2008 at the age of 24. She died from a stroke taking birth control pills. When she crossed the gates of Heaven, such a reunion they probably have never seen. My life was richer because of them and a lot more hollow because they are not here. Until my turn, Imiss you guys.

I'm 17 and my grandpa died when i was 13. It was the hardest thing I have ever gone through, and it's still difficult. But it has made me a much strong person today. :)

My grandpa died 13 years ago when I was 5. Each day , month, year that passes I miss him so much. I always have his picture in my room. I really like that part about how the only promise I couldn't keep was not crying because that is exactly what happened with me.

this song reminds me off my pap he died 2 weeks ago on tuesday and my pap was the most careing person u wuld every meet he wuld listen to you when u had to tell him sumthin and he wuld tell you sumthin too help you out! he got along with everyone. you NEVER can replace your grandpa!:(

i feel your pain. my grandpa Elmer died in May of 2006 from a sarcoma tumor. in his life, he had six heart attacks, and two fights with cancer. the second fight took his life. i love you paw! i will see you again someday!

My papa meant a lot to me. He died of Colan Cancer almost 6 yrs ago. Even though he is gone for now, I know that I will see him again one day. I carry all of the good memories with me and will tell my kids about him as well. You can never love someone too much while they are still here with us.

That was very sweet. I never knew either of my real Grandpa's, they both died before I was born, but, I had a step Grandpa. I wasn't that close to him. I wish I had had a Grandpa that this song related to. Very nice tribute for your Grandpa! Love the Kenny song, too!

What a nice tribute to your grandfather! I love this song too, I think of my grandpa everytime I hear it. He was 98 when he passed a few years ago and was a wonderful man and I miss him very much. Kenny Chesney also sang a song called "Where Did the Years Go" which is another beautiful song about the relationship we have with our grandpa's.
