I had to say I loved this video, and love the idea of making these. But I have to ask, is there any way Brambleberry will sell a kit of these? I can't fathom buying the ingredients separately...but I would order a kit without a doubt!
Thanks for having such awesome ideas! And hope your new year is filled with prosperity and peace!
@elizondo61 Its online because I run in it from my home. But i'll be sending out samples at first so stay tuned. Look us up on Facebook Luna Soap and Candle Co. contests too! :)
@myehsayshello For the Almond Oil any oil that is liquid at room temperature would work. So Olive oil or Avocado oil would be great. For the Shea Butter you want an oil that is solid at room temperature like Mango Butter or even Coconut Oil.
@jokerzhairstudio Since these aren't candles that are meant to be burned like a regular candle - I don't really have an answer. The way they are intended to be used is that you light the candle until waxes, oils and butters melt then you blow out the candle, pour some in your hand and use it like a lotion.
it would be great to also include a rough expiry date on these products! could you please tell me how long this product lasts? the same with the soaps and bath balms! thank you!!!
@kaexo it depends on the ingredients you use. Basically how it works is that the shelf life for your finished product is the same as the ingredient with the shortest shelf life. So even though the wax has an indefinite shelf life the Shea and Avocado only have about 1 year. So I would use these up within a year.
@EarlyBirdie82 Yes, they are candle safe - but since they have just been tested in soap they don't always have a good 'throw' (or smell good in a candle). So it's always best to test out a fragrance in a small test candle first.
If you use regular cocoa butter and don't use any essential oils will your cadle smell like chocolate? Or will you need to increse the amount of Cocoa butter?
Hi, just did this candles yesterday and they look great, but, should they be as hard as a regular candle? The reason i'm asking is because today they are still very soft when i touch it's surface.
@moletre These candles are pretty soft since I've added so many extra skin-loving oils. If you want something firmer, you can always add more wax. That's the great thing about making your own products!
@Mistirose14 Not all micas are safe to burn, some of them give off harmful fumes when heated up. So if you do use a color make sure it is candle and skin safe.
Hi, just want to verify on the information about the recipe. In the recipe itself it says 4 oz of Deodorized Cocoa Butter, but when explaining the procedure she says only 1oz of Cocoa butter so i was wondering if it is 4 or just 1 oz of it?
@moletre As noted in the description, there is a typo on the ingredient list in the video. I found that both recipes work. I prefer the recipe that uses 1 ounce of Cocoa Butter - but you may find that you like more!
@zentrumgesundheit The only way to melt down your ingredients so that they can be mixed together is to heat them up in some way. You could also use a double boiler if you prefer not to use a microwave.
Please also notice that I don't add the essential oils until after everything is melted and liquid.
I'm having a difficult time viewing your video. It seems to stop at the recipe stage. I have already watched it but i wanted to write the instructions down so i could try it at home. Please let me know when this video is up and running again. :) Thanks
@BuffAngela158 Hi, I just played it again and it seems to be working fine for me. Maybe there was just a lot of traffic when you were trying to watch it?
@katchance Yes, Almond oil would be a great substitute for the Avocado oil. Any fragrance that is skin safe can be used. Let me know how it turns out for you!
So great! Your videos are so informative, and you are adorable!!! I am hooked on soap making, and now I am thinking about beginning to make candles. I just bought a ton of items from Bramble Berry, and I am so excited to get them. I do have a request. Could you make a video about how to make candle tarts, along with ideas for packaging? I would like to make some candles without wicks to use in my candle warmer. Thanks!!!
Love all of your videos - so glad you're back! I do have a question about this video. The ingredient list states 4 oz. of cocoa butter, but you use 1 oz during your tutorial. Which is correct? Thanks!
@PrimLucy Hi, There is a typo on the video's ingredient list - but I tested it and it still works just fine. I prefer the recipe using one ounce of Cocoa Butter. I also noted the typo in the description of the video on the right.
