@pslamp32 Nope. Whenever a killer whale shows up in an area, all other large predators, great white sharks included, leave immediately. There are only two recorded battles between killer whales and great white sharks, and the orca single-handedly won both times.
What they don't say is the fact that Orcas are the only animal, aside from us humans, who will stalk, then catch and torture other animals just for the pleasure of scaring and hurting it. They get a sort of sick pleasure out of it, like a serial killer, and will torture their pray until they are at their limit, then leave it in search of newer, fresh amusement.
These guys along with Great White sharks scare the bejesus out of me. I used to live in Bristish Columbia Canada where there were plenty of Orca attacks....Now I live in Florida USA where the shark attacks are every year....So that may explain that.
It's important to note that there are actually two genetically different species of killer whales. One doesn't hunt mammals, and the only other hunts ONLY mammals. That's pretty bizarre.
Even though a narwhal has a tusk, the orca pod would probably win. The tusk isn't very sharp or able to really cut much. A narwhal's tusk is actually just a long tooth.
@mikethebike7 I've always wondering if whales fight back or not, but they don't. They're retarded. The great Jacques Couteau was the first one to document that "orcas" killed whales. He said they bite the tones out of sperm whales. How they manage that I have no idea.
@GordonFreeMANness They can kill any sea lives except bull sperm whales and blue whales. Bull sperm whales can be aggressive and dangerous. Blue whales are too large, powerful and fast although orcas sometimes try to hunt them.
as he says "aerodynamic design" at 1:44,,, this guy obviously did not finish highschool, they are in the water and would need to be Hydrodynamic. dumb ass.
When will they do a segment on Homo Sapien? rofl It could ever be of the earliest examples of man. You know, the ones that used spears/rocks to kill prey at a distance, then learned how to cook the meat in order to make it easier to eat and digest. Overall apex belongs to our species, but only because we can invent a way to kill any other animal.
How the hell do you keep an Orca in captivity, i.g., SeaWorld? Seriously, that is sick and cruel. Humans are so sick and twisted in the mind. Orcas swim hundreds of miles a day in the wild! They are exceptionally intelligent and don't belong in amusement parks! I hope everyday that SeaWorld shuts down.
@eyemfree wtf? Sea World is not a bad place. 1 reason for keeping animals in captivity is to assure survival even if the wild population dies. What is so twisted about an intellegent creature working with another intellegent creature for entertainment and food? Stupid hippie.
@TenteixSaigo lol "keeping animals in captivity is to assure survival even if the wild population dies." Have you seen the reports of how long Orcas live in captivity compared to in the wild? They're killing them more than they're helping them. An average captive Orca lives to be less than 25 years while wild ones can live to be 50+. I know your post is about 4 months old, but it bothers me when people figure captivity is HELPING them. Do you want to live to be 50 when you could really be 100?
Hate to be nitpicky, but all dolphins are technically whales (they are in the order Cetacea). However, since most people consider the family Delphinidae to be synonymous with 'dolphin' I'll grant the point.
otizzle124, in San Francisco, a female orca came across a great white, and she tore that thing to pieces, and I mean pieces, then just took the sharks liver. Look it up.
killer whales arent that bad, i read something in the newspaper a while ago about a boy falling into the sea when whale watching and one of the whales pushed him to the top and saved his life! im in love with them!
Only thing that bothers me in here is that it makes it sound like all orcas' dorsal fins are 6 feet long, when in reality, only males' fins typically reach that length. Females' dorsals are much shorter and more rounded than a male's.
that and it implies that all killer whales use sonar to capture all prey, but only the residents (the killer whales that hunt fish) use sonar, because higher order animals are smart enough to recognize the sonar as a sign of a threat and so transient killer whales (they hunt mammals) don't use sonar to track prey.
@torbs37 Not true. Transients are quieter because mammals are more likely to hear them (but residents don't have to worry because fish have crappy hearing), but they do use their sonar. Just more usually in single clicks rather than a string of them.
even some tamed orcas kill humans like at the aqurium in sea world there was a orca show and it went berserk or somthing and killed the guy who was doing the show with it but im not sure if it was at sea world i forget where but it was in the news and newspaper so yes they do kill humans and they do eat everything they get there teeth on even though they are beautifle creatures they are also killers by nature they are just like lions you come near them and aren't in a good mood you'll die!!!!!!!
No orca has ever literally attacked and killed a human. The only attack where a human died was at Sealand in Canada long ago. The whales were not used to people in the water and all they wanted to do was play. But she drowned.
Ky Kasatka & Orkid are the 3 whales who have been in a attack but the trainer survived. Kasatka &Orkid are dominant very dominant females. Ky was a teenager when his attack happened but he never opened his mouth on the trainer. They dont eat everything.
There are also two types. Residents and Transients. Transients are whale and seal eaters. Residents are fish eaters. They are smart, very smart. Orcas in captivity are residents, though there are some transient hybrids. Only one female and her offspring. Know your history first. :)
killer whales are the top predator in the sea. they never kill humans though. i heard that a killer whale fliped and broke someones boat because it didn`t like it but then helped the people on the boar onto floating peices of wood so they wouldn`t drown.
that's because humans are smart enough to get the fuck out of the water. if you're referring to "sea world" captive animals that dont bite humans, even lions can be trained and tamed. the orca eats everything it can get its teeth on. name an animal in the ocean that is above on the food chain please.
They don't eat everything they get their teeth on. They are way smarter than that. Wild orcas have never attacked a human. In captivity there has been a few incidents, but the one death was not from a violent attack. The whales weren't used to people in the water and didn't know their own strength. No animal can be 'tamed' they will always be wild. It's just the bond that the trainer or care giver has with the animal.

Dolphins are known to save men's lives - not because they are smart and caring, but because it is their instinct.
When they give birth they must bring the calf to the surface to get air. When they see a man in the water, they bring him up to get air.
