  • 02:56 awesome

  • You don't need to be remotely attractive when you can play guitar this good.

  • @TheGamefreakclay That's just it though, he's the sexiest beast to ever pick up a guitar :D

  • I totally fell asleep listening to this. Best nap on a couch I have ever had.

  • @MrTristanishere when I want to give a musician my best compliment I go with "I fall asleep to your music", because it means the music has the power to calm my mind and sooth me into a trance like state.

  • Why are you so awesome?

  • Funkaayyyy

  • The opening lick is so sexy.....

  • Awesome

  • No......Swagrid

  • They are not alowed to do magic outside the Hogwarts? Maybe the rule is not set for Hagrid!

  • Might I say just excellent

  • 2:38 ! Just love the way he breaks the silence !! Got a seizure xD

  • This video, 5 years later, is still Candyrat's best. This may just be the best noise to ever leave an acoustic guitar.

  • @MultiRocknroller you can buy them off of candyrat.com, it's only 15 bucks for 3 tabs. Good luck!

  • So thats how hagrid controlled a man eating dog. Not with the harp...

  • Apparently Hagrid plays the violin as well.

    /watch?v=tH2w6Oxx0kQ#t=89s

  • TABS? :DDD

  • that guys has the satan's right arm and hand..thats why he s so incredible...

  • @kladivous Nah, that's a state in america.

  • wow

  • So great !!!!!!

  • Don Ross, the joy of playing.

  • @MrScottJJohnson I wish him and Bob Ross were brothers. Could you imagine Joy of Painting with THIS guy jammin in the background?

  • @SIZZLEBIZZLE1982 Or this guy playing with Bob Ross painting his background. lol

  • @SIZZLEBIZZLE1982 Sorry, but Don Ross isn't THAT good.

  • @TheDJNaylor ooh yes he iiis!

    :D

  • @TheDJNaylor You say that like its fact, when really its an opinion.

  • @Drumtome Uhhh... If you had read the comment i replied to you would see i was joking. Good job on the trolling though. Also i stated it as most people would state an opinion. But again good job on the trolling.

  • @TheDJNaylor Ahh, sorry. Couldn't see the other comment.

  • @Drumtome S'all good. Sorry bout the harsh reply. Used to typical Youtube assholes.

  • 1:10....Groove in the dungeon :)

  • he's pretty good for a beginner

  • The camera can't even pick up his fingers moving at points they are going so fast

  • pretty badass as FUCK

  • HAGRID??

  • @RazorSharpLukinhas for sure, he plays for Fluffy

  • @RazorSharpLukinhas No, not Hagrid. I think you've seen Don Ross too much in Harry Potter.

  • Teach me fat jesus

  • @Painjm lold hard actually out loud.

  • LOL WAT TUNING

  • @99centstore I think CGCGBbC

  • @almightyhydra you are correct

  • What the fuck is going on with his right hand fingernails?

  • @p1an0hands Those are acrylic nails. A lot of steel string fingerstyle players use them. Most players natural nails cant stand up to steel strings, especially if they play a lot. Don and Antoine both use them regularly.

  • @p1an0hands ping pong balls... a secret classic chet atkins trick. Don uses acrylics too but mostly ping pong balls he says....

  • i didn't know Hagrid plays guitar

  • Seen him Yesterday in Hersbruck (Germany) - was awesome!

  • very nice

  • My uncle builds his guitars :O

  • alright motherfuckers! try to cover this one

  • the first second sound like "straight to hell"

  • Who says being a beast isn't awesome?

  • Sigh @ Youtube trying to ruin my musical immersion by featuring Miley Cyrus as a suggested video at top.

  • @pelcad all you gotta do is watch this in full screen to immerse yourself further into the experience. I'm sure that's all they were trying to do by putting that up there.

  • Don, your sense of timing and groove is a gift to humanity. Keep uploading, you're making the world a more rhythmic place!

  • Somewhere in his long luscious hair lies the cure for cancer.

  • I saw him play this live Around 2 days ago... It was fucking Awesome!

  • 108 people can't hear proprely !

  • nice 激シブ

  • all i want is to ask him one question.

  • The last harmonic. Made my balls ache.

  • there's SO much fuckin GROOVE!!!!!!!

  • ecxellent up Don Ross this guy is ausome as for the dislikes what can i say

regards to all from a greek/canadian

    ...¸¸.¤°´¯`°{° Ouzotime is anytime °}°´¯`°¤.¸¸.

  • at the end "thank you (muted)... verymuch!"

  • great stuff,

  • this should at least as popular as "drifting"

  • @rtmbtn yeah i know right? i actually enjoy this more than drifting cuz its not so overplayed.

  • holy actual hell what an absolute legend

  • The man.

  • Can you imagine what the guitar world would be like if Pancho Villa or Segovia or Tárrega or good gracious even Fernando Sor had been exposed to stuff like this in their formative years so long ago? Michael Hedges was a rare gift, and it's great to see one of his contemporaries (yeah, I know he looks like a cross between Wolverine and Hagrid!) honouring him so.

  • This video should be tagged with the term "Wolverine." geeeeeeeez.

  • Thumbs up if those notes just aren't on your guitar.

  • @drfleau acctually i came here cuz i found them so i thought i would try some of his licks and it aint happening

  • i gotta know whats up with the title man great song ive just wondered for ages why its called michael michael michael

  • @McBoothie94 It's a song dedicated to Michael Hedges (hence Michael Michael Michael) who was an amazing acoustic guitarist who inspired Don as well as countless others

  • @mtarsio ahhh that makes sense thanks for clearing that up :)

  • TAB譜ほすうううぃぃぃぃぃぃーーーーーーー!

  • You make not like this, but he uses pull-offs and harmonic slaps and other noisemakers to mask an otherwise poor composition. I call his style of guitar approach "Heavy Woodshed". Too many notes and flaying around.

  • @mindlesspup Thanks for sharing you opinion. But none really cares. Really, no one.

  • @chemoman1 Try listening to John Fahey.

  • @mindlesspup I already do, as well as Kottke. I still think Don is up there with them, on his own style of course.

  • @chemoman1 Fahey is at the top of the list for me. Have most of his records, and saw him play many times. I got to meet him and he even played a request for me. LK is right up there as well, John was his teacher for a while back in the day. Check out Terry Robb & Alan Haggar playing "Let Go" on youtube. As far as Don Ross goes let me phrase it differently. I respect him, but I think he needs to simplify things down.

  • @mindlesspup Gah my tongue(or keyboard) was too quick im my first comment, I apologize. Thank you for your other suggestions. Now, I'll be honest here, he migth get a bit too tricky at times, true, but for me, it has it's own appeal that way, using the guitar a bit as a percussive instrument and slping it around. I guess that's the beauty of it, there are plenty of styles and players to please each one of us. Again, I admit I was a bit hostile up there, so I apologize.

  • @chemoman1 Accepted. Forget about it! I was pretty cranky, so apologies to you as well. I was only stating my opinion of DR, and have seen him play many times here in Ontario. I don't mind the percussive stuff, sometimes it is not needed and gets in the way. Another suggestion for you: Check out Michael Hedges. He did lots of fingerstyle work with slaps etc. (Deceased now). Saw him and Leo Kottke together, awesome concert.

  • @chemoman1 One last thought - when searching Michael Hedges on YT, type in "Aerial Boundaries". He talks a lot before playing, but plays a great piece.

  • @chemoman1

    @mindlesspup

Wow, the first apologies I've ever seen in a Youtube discussion. You two have made history

  • @MetalGearCherVik I know right? xD But seriously, I have apologized several times when I was shown to be wrong or when I realize I was a bit too intempestive, like in this occasion. It's a strange event to find reasonable people in the tubes so I kinda realized why become one of the angry mofos that already saturate the internet.

  • @MetalGearCherVik people who can find and respect good music are usually world seasons more civilized

  • @mindlesspup haha, not sure if you knew this but Don calls his style "Heavy Wood". So ithink it's what he's going for xD

  • @0:51-0:55, he is basically giving everyone the finger...saying "f-you, you will never be as good as me"...at least that's what I got out of it

  • This song isn't incredibly difficult, took me around 1 week to get it down well. My best advice is take it bar by bar and keep repeating. Think of learning this song as a pyramid it builds on itself.

  • I read long time ago that Ross likes to call his unique and indescribably beautiful style "Heavy Wood" :)

  • two hundred and forty seconds of awesome!

  • Two hundred and forty seconds of awelot

  • ...what tuning is this in?

  • @aarondrums07 Drop awesome.

  • @aarondrums07 Its CGCGBbC Dude!!! :P Easiest way to get it I find is to tune to drop C by ear (CGCFAD), then hit the note on the 7th fret of the 4th string(C) and use that to bring the 3rd string(F) up a Step to a G, then from there hit the note on the 3rd fret of the 3rd string(Now a G) to get your Bb(B flat) for the string below(2nd string), and from there hit the note on the 2nd fret of the 2nd string(Now a Bb) to get your C for the first string....or, actually maybe just use a tuner. xD lol

  • Man, using fake nails is very popular in this guitar style for some reason?

  • @JacksonxRhoads23 because they need to pluck every single string? its hard to play like that without nail attachments.

  • @JacksonxRhoads23 what is this style of music?

  • @unknown9528 Think it's known as "new age guitar" ;D

  • @SanctumZero definitely

  • @unknown9528 Percussive Acoustic Fingerstyle

  • @unknown9528 the playing style is fingerstyle, but I believe the genre/style of music has been deemed broadly as "Heavy Wood" : D

  • Wow.... speechless. Thanks for sharing this!

  • AHXSONS THEME XD

  • What the fuck is a Pitbull ft Neyo advert doing before this track? That seriously angered me. Then this song started and everything was better.

  • Anyone noticed the influence of Michael's Jitterboogie on this one? Thumbs up!

  • Great guitar playing, beautiful sense of rhythm very cool!

  • one of the best tunes ever written for acoustic guitar! Don Ross kicks ass!

  • 2:55 - bad ass lick

  • @CrAzzyWak so metal

  • What second pick up is he using?

  • Those crisp voicings lead me to believe he probably does a bit of woodsheddin.

  • indecent....... the best compliment i can say. D

  • keep hitting 3:36 ftw

  • expensive acoustic guitars can really take abuse, a cheapo would crumble in a month after this. you can really slam the bastards.

  • @Jackiesstash08 Not really. Cheap guitars are actually stronger because of laminate wood. Solid wood (in expensive guitars) need extra care so they tend to get alot of dings and marks on the body. Besides, Hes slapping the strings which doesn't do anything to the guitar body.

Alot of musicians like to call their cheapo as a "beater guitar". One they dont mind taking abit of damage.

  • wow you are right was the audiance on valium? ha! wheres te hooting...Im hooting and im infront of a computer!

  • Superemoooooo

  • Haha Thumbs up for the way he says thanks at the end.

    "thaankkshh"

  • :o ¡¡¡¡¡¡me quedé con la boca abierta!!!!!

  • flippin the bird at 1:33

  • Guitar master!

  • Thumbs up for this harmonic 2:41 :)

  • I'd have gone crazy, those people witnessed one of the best guitar instrumentals of all time.

  • That is some pathetic clapping.

  • Wow...that's Don Ross right there ladies and gentlemen

  • I didn't know Peter Jackson played the guitar so well.

  • is this the orchestra model of beneteau or is it a special guitar built for him?

  • The applause at the end was shameful, i'm gonna break my guitar over the audiences head'

  • @NEXutTORUSramenMETAL I agree, they should either be silence in complete awe and disbelief or absolute chaos, screaming and arm flailing.

  • first song i heard from this guy now it on his other songs. This dude is hella good

  • The crows was supposed to be screaming with joy after the song -.- .....

  • I wonder if this guy ever gets tired of people asking for him to sign his autographs with "Hagrid"

  • I love this guitar sound. Each finger plays like a whole hand. Amazing and beautiful

  • This song makes me want to just go on a walk and never stop. Such a good tune.
