I had "Dum Spiro Spero" tattooed on my wrist a few years ago coz I have celtic heritage on both sides of my family and with each family crest they have mottos, my mothers family crest has that :) So I was excited when I heard Dir en Grey were naming their album after it :D They are so amazing I still enjoy their music now :)
i spent over 200 bux on the dum spiro spero deluxe box set and here i am listening to it on youtube... either i'm an idiot or i'm too much of a dir en grey fan. i'm thinking both! xD i just like to see what other ppl thought of the album :P
This album is different, but actually not that massively if to listen it properly, but it's good when a band can be different in every new album. This album is good.
i should be studying for my final.... but im having a hard time focusing with dir en grey playlist playing, and i cant find it in myself to stop the music.
I'm a Withering to Death fan, that's my favorite album. I saw Diru live yesterday at the House of Blues and they played this album.Words cannot explain the emotion that Kyo sings with. It transcends all language barriers. It's mesmerizing and magical. I love his voice. I love everything about Diru's performance. Everyone just does their own thing and they're GREAT at it. They're by far the best band I've seen live. This whole album is amazing. Their music is amazing. DIRU FTW <333333333333
It's good that people like what they like. Personally, I cannot stand the "aggressive" parts of their songs; those parts sound so bland and uninspired, plus the guitars sound weak as shit.
Kyo isn't just greatest vocalist in the world, but the entire band is forever changing and once you have touched as many genre's as Diru has earned their place as greatest band in the world. <3
@SSJ3Lunar All the "genre" they've done are just variants of rock. By your logic, any halfway decent session musicians would be "greater" than Dir en grey, considering the versatility required for session work.
@ShredST That you name this rock in the first place just show your ignorance in this setting... halfway descent? - Learn vocal... learn bass, learn drums, learn guitar, etc...
then I guarantee you will take that back! LOL
Learn a instrument at all before saying that at all. lol
LOL at some of the comments on this... am I really the only one who finds this song peaceful & relaxing (especially during that pretty chorus) instead of disturbing? I actually listen to it before falling asleep sometimes.
@AutumnMystry I, too, find of lot of Dir en Grey's music to be relaxing--even Agitated Screams of Maggots. A lot of people are repelled by Kyo's singing, but I am drawn into and captivated by him.
@mrsolofeo Haha yeah, I've actually chilled out to songs like Saku & Child Prey before... & imo Kyo is the most versatile, most talented vocalist in the world.
I've noticed many people saying that the ending is disturbing... I don't understand. The Blossoming Beelzebub was disturbing, in its entirety. Parts of Decayed Crow were disturbing. But this...? I can only feel the most exquisite sorrow and beauty throughout its entirety, with the ending epitomizing that sense.
@MalkavAmonra this is the best song from the album followed by vanitas and ruten . beezebub sucks hell and decayed crow makes me dun want to hear it again. others songs average 2.5/5 . a sad album indeed.
Holy shit.... if you listen to this song with headphones, and realllllyyyy concentrate on it, there's no way that at the end you don't feel disturbed. I just finished listening to it and I swear to gawwddd, I almost had a panic attack.
@growlgrowlpigsqueal Yeah, seriously. People are just calling it vinushka 2 because it's long and it has soft 3-4 minutes of soft vocals followed by harsh vocals... that's all. Totally different songs. And may I say, this is my favorite album ever from them. And I also like this one better than vinushka. Even the uroborous was the MOTHERFUCKING BOMB.
@growlgrowlpigsqueal people are calling it that due to the fact that the structure of the song is VERY similar to Vinushka. No the chords are not the same but the progression is pretty much in the same vein. My 2 cents....
The part at 3:35 makes me want to just start a world war or something. Reminds me of Opeth, too! I wish it was a bit longer. SUCH a great section of the song.
in my mind this album seriously saved the mess that was uroboros. I liked it....but Dum Spiro Spero is amazing. They just keep getting better and better for me. Language barrier is nothing to them! <3 <3 <3
@alucardslave I know right? I'm glad this album was better than Uroboros, I personally hated that album and was afraid i'd feel the same about this one... but thankfully Dum Spiro Spero is as good as their pre-Uroboros stuff imo
This is SO my new Vinushka! the instrumentals in this are beyond amazing to me. Does anyone else ever listen to Diru and just think "HOW do they do this?" I always wonder how they can create something from scratch and have every member sound so unique and amazing. BOGGLES MY MIND!
When you shake you Heat the Music have new sound ! Prove it ! PROVE IT! Is very strange. Diru is verry verry good. The band must make the haste tracks with heat bang Oo Verry verry good
I love the part at 4:06 That screaming part was sick and it went very well with the instrumentals. Diru's music speaks to me and I don't even have to know the language. Tone sends me a clear enough message.
i believed Uroburos wasn't anywhere as good as their first works which saved me in many ways but this album has placed them back and that i am now happy that they released a new album.
I think Uroboros is a better album and I think Vinushka and this are pretty much equal, though this song has a really chilling feel to it, the last chorus is just spectacular.
I didn't know what to expect at first when this album was announced. But having heard this album I would say that Dir En Grey has cemented themselves as one of the greatest bands in the world. DIRU FTW!
This is not Vinushka 2, this is Diabolos.

So the chorus buildup has slightly similar chords, no need to shit your pants.
