  • Salt causes water retention (bloat) not water or carbonated water.

  • whats the name of this drink at 1:10^^ is it soda water??

  • this guy is great (y) thumbs up

  • Hey scooby... (im only writing this here cos im not able to email you)

Anyways im looking for a decent pull up bar, i was going to buy an iron gym but after many arguments with my dad i was not able to buy one as he claimed it would damage and mark the door frames

So my question to you Scooby, are there any pull up equipment you would recommend that does not cause damage

(Im 18 years old , i exercise cardio 2-3 times a week for 30mins, lots of crunches and weight lift at least 3 hours a week)

  • Hey italianstuddmuffin, sorry I've never bought one of the over-the-doorframe pullup bars personally so I cant guarantee you that they wont mark the door. Several of them claim "no-mar", not that it means anything. Anybody out there used one of these???

  • cheers for the reply, i'll be off to uni in 4 months so i'll be buying one then anyways , was just wondering if you had any experience using it or other simiar doorway/frame ones

Cheers for the amazing vids mate

  • wow try water, that was a tough one

  • Seltzer water...

  • Hey Scoob

I am currently looking at Different Cycles to start on such as 4-8 Week cycles and I have done sufficient research related to different Cycles and the appropriate drugs to take During and after such as Cycles.

    My Cycle:

    - IGF-1 LR3

    - Deca durabolan - 400mg per week for 8 weeks

    - Sustanon 250 OR Testaviron depot - 500mg per week for 8 weeks

    - Dianabol - 30mg per day, six days per week for 6 weeks

Let me know if you can advise me on this matter !

    Thanks

    Keep up the Greate Work

  • If you had done "sufficient research" you'd be aware of Scooby's stance toward steroids.

  • I don't know much about supplemts, but these sound powerful. Go to your doctor first.

  • mskr666,

There are lots of steroid experts out there, I'm not on of them :(

  • ah i forgot at 1:10 whats the name of it i never seen it before:) i come from germany so please say the name so i can look it up ^^

  • Hey LeVLer77, if you are from Germany you already drink lots of this. Its just Wasser mit Gas, not nearly as common here in the USA

  • scooby 4 ever i like you man:) its helpfull for me

  • You have awesome videos. I've seen a good handful of them and they are all very informative. You make everything very easily understood and I truly appreciate all your help and hard work, thanks!

  • Does anyone know why scooby doesn't have forearm workouts?

  • Forearm muscles don't need be isolated and trained on their own, they are built on their own little by little with any of the biceps, triceps, chest, and back workouts.

  • I agree completely with TheDrumSpecialist. I dont like training forearms because they get lots of exercise anyway. Doing a targeted workout could easily lead to tendinitis, it does for me anyway.

  • You can always tell when people who are muscular take so many supplements and other muslce fat burning products to get that way...ALWAYS!! skinny legs, big muscles...and this guy, BUT...i really really like these videos, the guy seems quite sincere and concerned with health and properly achieving a beneficial lifestyle...

  • Does anyone know if a bar cable-pull-down machine can replace pull-ups?

  • Well, basically simple pull-ups are the equivalent of bar cable pull-downs using a weight equal with that of your body.

  • IMHO although the movement seems similar, pulldowns are not quite the same as a real pullup.

  • The "AHHHHHH!" after he takes a sip makes me laugh. What a great idea for a drink. I gonna try this.

  • Hey Scooby just wanna say thanks for all your help with fitness exercises and just basic help on getting fit.

  • wow scoob u look super ripped on this one

  • Just wanted to say thank you. For all your fitness advice and targeting those fake commercials that really don't help you. You are doing alot of good for over weight people looking to change their lives. You deserve around of applause and a pat on the back. You have certainly helped me. Once again-- thank you

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Ahhhh!

  • scooby, i have a few questions. i've been watching your videos for a few weeks. btw, this is for cutting fat & gaining muscle.

    1. is not eating enough calories bad?

sometimes i can get enough protein without eating more than 1500 calories

    2. should you eat before bed?

sometimes i'm hungry right before going to sleep, but i feel like those are just useless calories that i won't be able to burn off. but other things have told me that i should have protein in me cus sleep is a catabolic activity.

  • I'm not Scooby but;

    1. Well, there are good cals and bad cals. If you're a guy eat atleast 2000kcal a day but eat healthy like broccoli and cauliflower. Fatty meats like a tuna steak or grilled chicken. This will all help you losing fat.

    2. You can have a bit of non fat yoghurt with a little bit(!) of honey and cinnamon. This way your muscles wil be replenished throughout the night.

  • 1. Yes it is. There is something called "BMR" - that's "Basal Metabolic Rate" - the energy your body needs when you do nothing. As in letting your blood circulate and the heart beat, your nails and hair grow, renew your skin etc. Going below eating this amount of energy is not healthy.

    2. It doesn't matter at what time you eat. What's important is your overall energy balance. However, some people say they sleep worse when they had a heavy meal shortly before bedtime.

  • hey do u have any suggestions on weightlifting on vacation.....like what can i use to gain muscle, if not then at least maintain it....would resistance bands be enough.....cuz travelling on a plane prohibits me from bringing dumbells along......what do i do plz answer

  • Backpack pushups, a tree for pullups and water jugs for dumbbells.

  • kk so this will increase my muscle mass if done correctly or are these things just used to maintain? and what about resistance bands/tubes?

  • I agree completely with Evilcyber! You need food to live, cutting back too much can be very dangerous. If you want to lose fat, I would recommend that the fastest you do it is the rate of 2lbs per week. Check the charts on my website to see how many calories per day that would be for you (or use Lose It, or the hackers diet website)

  • I would prefer pepsi max

  • GOD.

  • Hi scooby1961!

I have a few qustions about building muscles.

I have been watchinng your videos and I do 10 minutes of workout on monday, wednessday and friday. Push ups, crunchies and pull ups.

Everytime I have done that, I am making a protein drink (the one you made in previous video). I am also doing at least 20 minutes of cartio each day (most jogging). So, can I never eat sweets or hamburgers and stuff like that again?

Not any candy at all, not even once in a week? Thanks for answer!

  • i lost a lot of weight without changing my diet, by doing more cardio(i skated for about 1 houor each day before, than i added 90min of martial arts and that was that).

  • yes skateboarding and martial arts are good, but some of us don't have time to do that much cardio

  • it would be wise for you not to, this will help you.

  • cokonutzzz: You'll most likely find that your tastes change as you adjust to a new way of eating, and you'll find new favourites and may not like the things you used to. I certainly found this. A few indulgences here and there won't harm your muscles, you just have to be wary of the extra calories and might need to do extra cardio to avoid fat gain which makes muscles less visible.

  • Ofcourse you can cheat once in a while but 1 candybar (or something else) max. Or you can change your diet by adding all kinds of spices. By the way, if you want to build muscles, 10 min a day isn't gonna do it for you. I train 6 times a week (everyday another muscle group) for about 45-60 minutes + 20 HIT cardio.

  • If you are male and of average weight and height, 10 minutes of working out burns about 80 cal and 20 minutes of cardio about 200. That's 280. And one cheeseburger has 300 cal.

In other words: If you should refrain from junk food or if you can allow yourself to indulge in it sometimes depends entirely on your goals.

Checking Scooby's site under Bulking Up and the nutrition section might help you further with this issue.

  • much more better if you add cane sugar , mint and Rum :)

  • "AHHHHHH" lol classic :)

  • Nice tits faggot.

  • great vids scooby, keep them comin, we luv it

  • damn dude! That 2 liter bottle looks like a 20oz next to you, lol. Fooled me.

  • started drinking loads of water a couple months ago, and stopped drinking anything else.. since then ive felt so much healthier and i credit this

  • what a tank.

  • goddamn i forgot how much better it feels to eat almost no sugar. ive been on just about perfect diet for the last week, veggies- some fruit, protien and whole grains only. no flour at ALL. goddamn. why do i ever stop? your an inspiration to us scoobs

  • I see that in the end of the video it is stated that the drink contains 0 sodium. I loooove high sodium foods such as soy sauce & algae so I must ask, can sodium be of any trouble while bodybuilding/cutting stomach fat etc?

  • lorddeimos: Like Scooby said below, too much sodium causes you to retain water, which causes bloating. This is another reason to eat lots of veggies and fruit as they contain potassium, which does the opposite to sodium. We need the right balance so the cells can effectively absorb nutrients and get rid of wastes. We need a lot more potassium (lots of veggies!!!) than we do sodium, but don't go taking potassium tablets unless prescribed, as they are unnecessary and dangerous.

  • Well, the body doesn't really need more potassium than sodium. General recommendation is that both should be consumed in equal amounts.

  • Evilcyber: The ratio of sodium to potassium should be 2:5, which equates to 1:1 for sodium chloride.

  • Do you eat sodium and chloride seperately? ;)

Nah, seriously, when most people refer to "sodium" they in fact mean "sodium chloride" - salt.

  • Not unless I had a death wish, and besides it would then be sodium and chlorine, not chloride. I just hope you don't ask for a pint of ethanol at the bar...

  • A pint? I have my ethanol shaken, not stirred and in a deep champagne goblet with a thin slice of lemon-peel.

  • Iconic Bond. Much like sodium chloride in fact. Oh, wait that's an ionic bond.

  • Beat me with a rhythm stick, but I just love your wit :)

  • Comment removed

  • At first I thought that this would just taste like water with a tiny taste of lemon, but this is pretty much the only thing I drink nowadays. This and just ordinary water.

    Thanks man.

  • dude that was funny as hell XD

  • iv found its even better if youadd the lime wedge first in an empty glass, with about 4 mint leaves, and crush them with a spoon or somthing convenient, befor adding the seltzer water and ice, you should try this scooby, i hope you enjoy it if you do =]

  • Its hard for me to control my food , i use way to mutch fat food , and i cant lose fat from my belly and cant get abs :/

  • but you are killing vaginas

  • green screen?

  • why does he keep doing that "AAAARGGH" thingy?!

  • Hahaha, I think it was a joke, but it also gets the point across that it's refreshing and it's a thirst quencher. Am I right?

  • its funny as hell XD

  • Thats "ahhhhh", which is good - not "arrgh" which is bad :) I know it looks stupid but thats what I do when I enjoy something I drink, I exaggerate my joy so to speak. I know people think I was hamming it up for the vid, not so - is that scary?

  • You weren't hamming it up? OMG! :)

  • no sir, it wasn't scary, i understand what you did was to show the strong feeling of how tasty the drink is. me also do that often when me drink hahaha!

    cheerios!

  • haha that was pretty funny :)

  • i was browsing the web and saw this lift called the One Side Loaded Barbell Squats, basically you squat with only one side of weight im basically looking for someone with knowledge to educate on whether it does anything or not, i tried and felt it a bit but i dont want to waste my time

  • Where did you feel it? It's designed to work your core, especially the sides, and apparently works it very hard. I've never tried it but that's its purpose. The advice is to start with light weights until you're accustomed to maintaining the uneven balance.

  • Hi I had a question I've been having pretty long now,

If you drink too much water [wich I am drinking pretty allot since I'm taking Creatine] is there any chance your abs will be under a layer of water - and not be that visible ?

  • Drinking too much water alone won't hide your abs. Your kidneys should deal with that. Creatine will cause water retention no matter how much you drink - that's part of the reason you're taking it, so that it draws water into your muscle tissue but you'll retain it elsewhere too. If you want to get totally shredded you shouldn't take creatine, nor should you try drinking less water while on it unless you truly are already drinking "too much". Why not drop the creatine & see what happens?

  • Water is good, the more you drink the better (unless you take it to ridiculous extremes). Its not *water* that causes bloating and the loss of definition, its salt which makes you retain the water. You need lots of water to flush the toxic crud out of your body. If your diet is low in sodium, the water will just be immediately eliminated as urine. If you chow down on chips, fries, fast food, and salty snack foods all that water (and crud) will be retained. Water=good, salt=bad

  • Allright, thanx you cleared that up!

Just to say I'm a huge fan of yours and you got me on to the sport.

I'm very grateful you make them videos, ^

    Cheers !

  • What happens when you run an Ultramarathon I remember reading that on long runs especially 100 miles or less you need to watch your sodium levels as well. Also your vids are great and how do you feel about ultramarathon runners? Thanks for the tips, keep up the vids.

  • shaka1221: Ultramarathon and bodybuilding are opposites really. Training and nutrition would be very different as the goals are very, very different. You would certainly need to pay attention to sodium intake to make sure it is adequate to replace what's lost through sweat. I'm not sure of the amounts though.

  • i love his hat

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • One day I woke up and had the dryest mouth ever known. So I went to Burgerking to get a Sprite. I took a 10 ounce chug because, I was VERY thirsty and you know what happened? I got a whole stomach full of carbonated water.

I have to say, it was akin to drinking a glass of chalk water. Not fun. I suggest instead of drinking poisoned water, just walk more at 110 beats per minute or lower for a longer period of time. You burn all your fat off, you can eat what ever you want.

  • Scooby where do you live? how did you afford this?

  • thanks

  • Why don't you train your leg muscles more? They are the fastest way to up your calorie spending per day. Which means you can eat more, speed your metabolism more and therefore gain more muscle all over the body just by driving more energy through it.

  • Yeah, I do..... I go to my staircase and go up and down on the ball of my foot 500 times straight. I just want to know how to get my arms bigger with more definition aswell as my chest. how?

  • scooby: how true is this statement? or is it just myth

  • Hi! Well I saw and watched your video and I was impressed. I just wanted to ask you..... well, I am 15 and want to know how to gain muscle fast because it's easy for me to tone and stuff. I drink protein shakes after every workout. I workout 6 days a week on different body parts: chest, biceps, triceps, chest, biceps, triceps, rest...etc. And also please tell me how to work on the bottom part of the chest to get the overlapping. Thank please message me back. Thank you.

  • yes ive tried this once with the ahhh!! and once without the ahhh!! for best results give a good AAAHHHH!!!!!!!!

  • hahaha I just love the Ahhhhhh after every time he takes a drink haha, I always do this. This guy is the tits.

  • Hi scoby! I don't know if u have a word for sore muscles that u get after working out, like we have in sweden, but anyway.

I just read an article about that, and he says that u have not trained bad just because u haven't sore muscles the day after, instead if the body is used to train, u mostly get sore muscles if u train wrong or a muscle u aren't used to workout... now i wonder if that's true? Cus i do ur killer chest at least 1s a week, and i ALWAYS get sore muscles the day after

  • Slugger, is it possible you aren't warming up properly? Spend 10-15 minutes warming up doing some cardio and stretch or do warm-up sets. Working your muscle whilst they are cold isn't good, and it can also cause injury.

I never get sore muscles, but I've been working out for a long time on and off and I always warm up a little and stretch.

Some might say don't stretch do warm up sets, but I personally believe correct stretching is the best and safest way. I'm also now very supple as a result.

  • This guy is awesome ha ha ha ha

  • That looks exceptionally ReFresHing! Ahhh..... Exhilerating! ^_^

  • Haha i dont know why but i watched this twice? ur a gun Scooby!!!

  • Haha i watched this a third time! ^_^

  • Commercial any one? I like this one.

  • i love his voice looool

  • Hey scooby. Is it a necessity to check my heart rate? I don't feel like stopping my cardio and dropping my heart rate just to check it. Is there a way to check if i'm in a good heart rate by doing the :"talking" test?

  • alkim777: You can get a heart rate monitor (for about £30 in the UK and incidentally if anyone has one with a dead battery outside the warranty period, one of those independent watch repairers or market traders can easily and cheaply replace the battery), or you can use the talk test, or rate of percieved exertion scales, look up the Borg Scale if interested. Basically you should feel like you can maintain the intensity for at least half an hour but it should feel quite hard.

  • alkim777: With the talk test you should be able to get a sentence or two out, but not maintain a conversation.

  • Or even better put your two fingers on your neck to feel your pulse, measure the beats for 15 seconds and times by 4. I think that's right, it's been a while.

There are other places on the body that can be used, google will know.

  • cas398: Yes, simple, effective and free. I was just talking about alternatives for someone who finds taking the pulse manually disruptive to the workout, and also some people have trouble finding their pulse. For me, I kind of get in the zone and I don't like to break the focus, so RPE works for me, I also monitor my pace :)

  • Heysexomaticveganfreak Thanks for answering peoples questions, you are doing a great job. I appreciate it because I'm on a business trip and dont have good internet access so I can comment on the vids.

  • You are very welcome Scooby, and thanks. I am very glad to know it's helpful to you :)

  • Comment removed

  • what the heck scooby...are you gonna start a cooking channel!? you are crazy with your fitness tips

  • ....you've started using litres now? I was unawares!

  • As borat would say......Veerrryy Niiiiicceee!

your a happy person. live long and prosper. Peace

  • You, my friend, are awesome.

  • Hey scooby, how can I burn Fat? ive been running for a few months and working out, but havent really had much improvement... at least not in the fat. I got my muscles grow but i have my beer fat right there...any suggestions. (ill change my beer for that carbonite water for a few months as well)

  • drossello: To burn fat you have to use more Calories than you take in, so you have to pay attention to your Calorie intake as well as cardio like running. Check out Scooby's 6-pack abs videos for more info.

  • its too bad america is so addicted to colas and other carbonated beverages. one can of coke has 160 calories. with those calories you could have 2 apples loaded with natural juices and nutrients that not only satisfy your thirst but have fiber to fill you up if you've had an unsatisfying meal. i totally agree with scoobys comment saying its always better to eat than drink you calories

  • you mean 3 apples :D

    nice comment

  • Nice vid Scooby. This has made me re-discover sparkling water, so now I have an alternative to tap which is always good. 5 star.

  • Hey harry4972, youtube doent censor but I like the language "G-rated" here.

  • What is the age that a person will start to recieve the best results and if they work out before this age will you see any results?

  • You need to be in puberty for a little while before you start lifting due to lack the muscular and skeletal development. But, you can start strength training presumably at any age.

  • hey Scooby,

What is you opinion on the distance between your hands for doing pull ups?

In your other videos you are always stressing on wide grip pull ups.

What is the effectiveness on your lats for mid-range or close grip pull ups?

Thanks a lot for your work whether you reply or not.

  • AHAHAHAHAH!!!

    You are so funny man!

  • *drink* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Scoooooby youre great... i reacheed so many things with your videos.. Thx alot

  • Gulp, Gulp ,Gulp.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

  • You should have a food section on your website or a youtube video group about food called "Scooby Snacks". That would be cool.

  • I like the "scooby snack" idea !

  • Gulp, gulp, gulp.... AAAAAAAHHHHHH.

  • wow this guy is a fuckin weirdo

  • Yeah, he is, but that's why we like him.

I've been following Scooby for over a year now and I use several of his tips on a daily basis.

He knows what he's talking about... Just look at him.

  • If the world was full of "weirdos" like him it would be a better place.

  • I have hear before that drinking a lot of water is ideal for maintaining a good muscular body, but I don't see how?

  • Lean muscle is 75% water by weight. It stands to reason anyone who's building muscle needs a good supply of it.

  • thanks

  • well i guess one reson is to keep your skin in a good shape, If you dont and work out i think you have a risk of getting more stretchmarks. But i might be wrong

  • well i work out but i think i got stretch marks when having a growth spurt but i think you may be right but definitely for better looking skin

  • GULP GULP.......AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • after every sip he shows how enjoyanle and refreshing this is, but kinda creepy :P

  • Hey Scooby, or anyone that can answer, is it a good to workout and then go to sleep soon after? I heard it's best to workout 2-3 hours before you sleep.

  • I would NOT workout before bedtime for several reasons. I would recommend being finished working out at least 3 hours before sleep.

  • reasons please?

  • The quality of sleep and getting to REM sleep is prolonged if your heart rate and energy levels are up (as they are immediately after working out). Allowing time before bed allows your body to adjust and level out for bed time. I am sure others will disagree.

  • Hey robermatthewking, thats the reason I have heard too and it makes sense to me. Working out gets your body all reved up so it seems likely that it could negatively affect sleep.

  • 2 to 3 hours sure why not making it 7-8 hours workout then you'll really sleep well

  • interesting

  • I have a quick question. Is it ok to drink a protein shake, after or during a workout, which way is better?

  • its better to drink it after. it can help your muscles recover after a hard workout

  • protein is used to repair teared muscles to get even bigger

    so after is better

  • i agree with everything you say, except for

"To drink as little as possible anyway"...if the context of that quote is referring to non water beverage options, ok, but not to plain water itself, unless you got some majorly unhealthy impurites in it

  • Hiya, I was just referring to that most dietricians would advise to drink say normal coke, as opposed to diet coke. And to drink as little as possible of course anyway.

I just say don't put any soda drinks diet or non diet in your basket when shopping, it's best left alone.

It's just being wise on what your food or drink contains - Best to check labels.

  • I agree completely......Normal soda is bad, diet soda IS REALLY FRICKEN BAD

  • hate this....either reply in a manner which is pertinent to the video or just shut up......that's the reason why he always disables the comments, which sucks

  • Gnomes drink that too?

  • Search "Happy Rob Buy" by google ,and you will find amazing.

  • Why is everyone dissing this, he knows what hes talking about and is very heloful

  • Thanks Scooby. Your workout tips are excellent!

  • lol

  • I think he is naked under that table............

  • LMAO

  • uh oh, my man's in HD!

  • Damnnn that's cool. haha Very cool video. You should most definitely make more in the future. haha This is too interesting!

  • why do u have to do this ahhhhhhhhhhhh... its f**kin hillarious... hehehe.. oh god..

  • good old chilled water without carbonation is pretty damn good too. The bubbles bother me when i want to chug some H2O :)

  • I would try this but I can't stand the 'taste' of seltzer. Is there a refreshing substitute, scooby?

  • non-carbonated water

  • God, you fucking love yourself don't you.

  • lol

  • HAHAHA yes he does... but wouldnt u want to be in as good of shape tho?

  • Jealousy will achieve nothing.

  • pogglesworth: Scooby doesn't take himself too seriously and isn't afraid to act silly to entertain his audience or make a point. Those aren't the characteristics of a vain person.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. nice vid

  • Msst! AHH!

    Refreshing ;D

  • Well I'm just gonna subscribe! That's cool. I really like your videos a lot! Take care of yourself. Hope you can make more in the future.

  • Where did you get that Soda Siphon Scooby? I can't find them anywhere.

  • freaking buff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i didnt hear a word man all i saw was huge peaks dood u rock lol

  • LOL it is almost like a water comercial :)
