@airsoftrocky It has the fixed rear wing as a standard feature, removing it is an option so you could get the normal spoiler like on other TTs. Although I love Audi but that's kinda of a stupid thing to do, putting the spoiler as an option for RS and standard on others.
@moeundertaker i agree I would much rather have the deployable wing, much cleaner looking, and you can't beat the spoiler deploying getting onto the freeway
beautiful car but could be better if they made like a hardcore version that competes with the ferrari california and aston martin. put a v8, make a longer nose and lower nose, wider body, etc. just a thought
@Jamzkangster well the r8 competes with gtr porches 911 turbo, etc all are cars pf which are faster than the aston. Im talking about somewhere in the middle where speed is a priority as much as style, like an aston or jag xkrs
When I first started watching I really wanted to not like this guy...but he did a very good and thorough job with this car. I would agree with having more from him. Well done!
@d00mch1ld Don't fell so bad. In Denmark that car cost 3.7 times more than in the USA. but yea, all cars in the US are dirt cheap compared to many other places.
one press on the stability control button turns off the traction control. Another press turns off the ESP .. Thre is no partial traction control system onboard.
A survey on Facebook is probably the most unreliable source I have ever heard of ;-) I am sure they conducted much more market research before they asked people online...
Maybe audi sells more cause their cars just look sexy now vs years in the past. Kinda like Honda/Toyota going the other way and being dull and boring now a days. Their sales are slumping... Great job Audi love the car!
why in the hell doesn't Audi make a 5 cylinder TDI TTRS?!? or any kind of RS built on TDI technology?? BMW has the 335d and it's 265HP with 425ft./lbs of torque. Tweak the ECU on the 335d and you could get over 300HP with damn close to 500ft./lbs of torque. Are the execs a bunch of pussies and think TDIs are not sporty enough?? Imagine a 5 cylinder TDI that is fast as hell and gets great mileage..
@GR8ISH8 3 series does not equal TT, Audi has it 3.0 Tdi which is a 250hp engine! in that's unlike the BMW 35d which is a 3.0 engine aswell uses only one turbo (unlike the twin turbo for the BWM). tuned version of the 3.0 Tdi goes easly over 300hp and 500ft./lbs
@InitialDAmine the BMW 335d has 265HP and 425ft/lbs of torque. I test driven one and they are fast.. Too bad BMW doesn't do a 335d with AWD. I'm looking to buy either a 335d or TTRS.. Both configured the way I want them will be close to $60K..
I have TT 3.2 v6 Quattro DSG mk2,it's a superb car but thirsty! Think will save for the rs and see if I can get one second hand.Nice to see stick shift in the USA,a lot of gear changes needed though.Great review, fantastic car with Bose sound system, you can't knock the Germans in terms of their automotive engineering skill.
I was lucky enough to have a TTRS for the day last year and its a lovely car. The sound that engine makes is addictive. Heaps of grunt, powerful brakes and loads of grip from the quattro system. I found the Recaro seats both hard to get-in-and-out-of and uncomfortable though (thin padding) which was a shame.
I was a loyal Audi customer for 10 years, owning an A6, S4 and A4. Then my 2006 S4 engine failed and Audi Corporate screwed me. Now it's war! @AudiReallySucks on twitter
of course we need a chip. APR's chip gets you 400+ hp and 462 lb of torque thats about 50 hp more and more than 100 lb of extra torque! the more the better
@shawnspeed3 360bhp on an AWD is not overpowered but even 250hp on a FWD is usually (though some exceptions exist) too much for the front axle to deal with.
VW and Audi use that 3.6L engine everywhere now, from Passat to A6, that's more than half of their line up. that means this car has one of the most popular Engine
Are you sure about that 50/50 torque split? Every other Audi with a transverse engine, including otherTT models and even the previous TT RS, have a front-biased torque split.
@sakil21 Right, they do. I used today's exchange rates to convert between the currencies. While fairly many people might have the USD/Euro rate at the top of their head, I expect most people would have had to look up what 1,176,700NOK are in USD (I certainly had to), so I figured I'd just convert them all to USD at current rates for convenience.
The biggest difference in prices of cars in those countries stems from different tax rates and import tariffs.
@theyetunusedname yes brother I agree. tax is a great factor. in our country we need to pay 800% tax to buy a car. it is the highest tax rate in the world for car purchase.
@sakil21 what country u live in, i am from india so we pay 100% taxes, double the orignal( only on directly imported cars). audi assembles all the sedans in india. no manufacturing though. they bring in completely knocked down kits. which attracts a lot less taxes. but models like TT or the R8 are directly imported.
VW/Audi should hire you as an exec, you do a better job selling their cars than they do.
I personally could never drive the TT, it is a chick car and at that price I would get a BMW 1M first, then either a Corvette or Porsche Cayman, Shelby Mustang GT500, used GT-R, lots of choices. But they are selling them, so good for them.
Although its a great gesture from euro manufacturers to bring over their low volume cars here, its not enough. For example, models like the A4 and A6 have diesel variants not to mention several different choices of transmissions. That is something I would like to see because not everyone wants a performance version of a certain model line.
Nice. I thought Ross and Emme had perfected road tests and sharing information. It seems to be the standard at Roadfly, not an exception. Well done. Thank you.
Amazing review Charlie, technical, understandable, serious without being boring, nice video shots of different angles,i liked the fact that we see you drive the car from the back seat, really,a review based on the type of car,not about grocerys and practical side of it,its not a minivan, its a sport car,and you my friend did the review the way its meant to be.Plus no words about cup holders!!!hahaha
Is it really 50/50 front/rear drive ratio? I think it would be better if they used the standard 60/40 biased to the rear to make it a bit more fun and minimize understeer. Shame
2 problems with this car: 1. its platform is based on a vw golf and 2. it has 4motion not quattro. that being said, im sure its a nice car to own and drive
Many thanks RoadFly, great review. I've always loved the TT, and this little rocket has a pound of sugar with a cherry on top. Love that sound this puts out. Considering the success Audi has been having, 120,000 cars seems conservative.

Just sold my vw for my toyota worst car I ever owned! Will never give vw/audi a shot neither bmw. My toyota feels like a rolls royce compared to the fuckin vw.
