Nuno - great guitarist. Don't think van halen invented two handed tapping as some folk have stated. He maybe popularised it by using it in lots of his material. Steve hackett was using finger tapping in the seventies on tunes like 'return of the giant hogweed' yet I doubt he invented it either. Other folk were probably dabbling with it years and years before him and it went unnoticed.

I'm sorry but Eddie might have invented the technique, but Nuno puts it to better use. I am a fan of both guitar players, but I think Nuno's solos are more technically sound and more difficult to do. Nuno is amazing b/c he does it all, heavy riffs, fast, slow, he does it all.

I saw Nuno with Extreme in the summer of '08. Gave a little speech about how inspirational Eddie Van Halen was to him. Someone in the crowd shouted that EVH sucks and Nuno got pissed, yelled back about how great Van Halen was.

it doesnt matter if he was influenced by evh,pretty much every guitarist in the 1980s was,vai,satch,vitto bratta pretty,reb beach and much more were influenced by him.

I don't think that's true he, on many occasions said that if it wasn't for EVH he and many other Guitarist wouldn't be here. You can be influenced without sounding anything like them. His style is very percussive which makes him different.

i wouldnt say it makes him tottaly different. i agree yes nuno is a very different player than EVH but you can hear the influence in his playing (which isint a bad thing). In my opinion i think Eddie has a very percussive style, although I think nuno took that to a different level.
