  • Can you tell me where you got the top vent on your hives? I would like to get some for my hives.

  • @CLICKCLICKBOOM484 The vented cover we use comes from "Honey Run Apiaries" in Ohio. It is called an "All Season Inner Cover" and comes with a removable 2" Styrofoam insert for winter use.

  • How many hive bodies and supers do you guys use on each hive? Is it 2 hive bodies and 2 supers a good way to maintain a strong colony?

    Nice job there:)

  • @RigsPGT It depends on the health of the colony and the season. This was an extraordinary year where we had a really good nectar flow and really strong colonies. We started "by the book" using two Deeps and adding medium supers for the honey. Later we changed our hives so they use medium supers for both the brood chamber (3 ea) and for the honey. They are lighter and easier to lift that way and you can always drop an extra honey frame into the hive body in fall or late winter.

  • Thanks for the comments. Catrpilrgirl, that is actually a leaf-blower, and it is being used to blow the bees off of the frames before we put them into the large covered bins.

  • what was the vacuum for?

  • wow that was pretty epic

  • those bees need a security system
