This is a kind of side story to the manga "Haru wo Daiteita" AKA Embracing Love. More or less, this is the story of two men living when the shogunate in Japan was in conflict with the governement because of the modernisation. These two men are on opposite sides of the conflict, but they come to love each other... But I can only advise you to read the manga.^^
