  • Hahaha the intro song is the same as in the Ventrilo Harassment Duke Nukem.

  • I first saw this movie in Latin class. My teacher was awesome like that.

  • Never has there been, nor will there ever be a greater first note to an opening movie soundtrack.

  • What I meant the was the song. Was John barry style this. Was. A great film sadly only loved by the fans of pythons.

  • Monty pythons James bondish song?????

  • @whipcreamduo

It's more of a parody of christian songs about Jesus. For example, while christian music would describe the amazing god-like qualities of Jesus, this song says brian has "arms and legs and feet", something everyone has (or at least should have).

  • Best lyrics ever!

  • and his face became spotty......

  • Most of the musical score is done by Eric Idle. The man is the "folk singer" on the group. But this song was written by Michael Palin. And of course, all the effects are Gilliam's. Collage is his bread, butter and cheese. Beautiful....

  • Is there a better quality version of this song? And without background noise?

  • @WolfySnackrib666 ive got a copy in cd quality without background noise, send me your e-mail address in a pm and ill mail it to you within the week

  • @fumeze3 hey can you please send it to me also? giantfromsiberia@aim.com

    thank you!

  • this song is awesome. THAT TRUMPET !

  • Take that Peggy...Cause I've got BALLS OF STEEL

  • Sonia Jones sang the theme song. Like Shirley Bassey, she also came from Wales (often referred to as the land of song), as did Charlotte Church, Tom Jones, Duffy, Iris Williams, Bonny Tyler and many others.

  • Best movie intro ever.

  • Python's Masterpiece.

    Nuff said.

  • Vent Harassment brought me here :)

  • an absolute classic british comedy! :D

  • I believe it is Shirley Bassey

  • I listen to this song to much...

  • why does this sound diffrent from the version on the cd. this is better but y?

  • I first saw this movie when I was nine, and these were the best opening credits to anything I had ever seen.

I think they still are, in fact.

  • @Kitschensyngk Seems like the truth really is in internet... It's just hidden very well... Your comment is a perfect example from it!

  • I love the fact that the only legible credit is Design/Animation by Terry Gilliam.

  • this song is what i call EPIC!

  • Has anyone got an instrumental of this?

  • who sang this song?

  • I like it how george harrison was one of the executive producers

  • INTO A MAN CALLED BRIAN!

  • I cannot watch this without hearing "I've got balls of steel".

  • Watching this, I couldn't help but think Duke Nukem would pop up out of nowhere...

  • @RakienRoffo OLD STYLE!! lol

  • The only sad thing about this movie is that this the only animation in it :(

  • I on't know about you, but I love the voice, and the sax. When I first watched this, I thought for sure I was watching a James Bond film.

  • XD

  • for years and years I hated this song... think it was the annoying sax (?) at 1:41 that caused that + the singers voice. but then I noticed the lyrics as I became better at understanding english... and now it just cracks me up

  • @kyrastube

the lyriks are epic..even if you hate the voice..you have to love this song ♥ :D

  • the angel getting shot. who thought of that genius? my favourite comedy film to date!

  • 1 person was crushed by the building @ 1:36

  • Monty Python! I love you! Best Comedy Group ever!

  • Lol I saw this on school

  • I've always loved this intro and the song. I remember creasing up at the dramatic 'He had arms, and legs...and hands! And feet!' Wow! Sounds like we got a hero on our hands if he has all those accomplishments to his credit! Also, particularly when I see this sequence, you realise how much of an influence Gilliam had on Matt Stone and Trey Parker on South Park. Particularly in the early days, when in fact all Python was an influence, although they have moved away from that more these days.

  • I've got balls of steel!!!!!!

  • this is genius! love monty python! does anyone know who sang this?

  • @13bilbobaggins Sonia Jones sang this

  • @portok35 yes, thank you. i looked it up shortly after i saw the movie.

  • I have this on repeat. Its brilliant.

  • Definitely a candidate for the best opening sequence ever.

  • kick-ass movie

  • ... No girl named brian!

  • Sounds like a James Bond theme!

  • Ah religion, cant live with it, cant kill everyone systematically who disagrees with your personal beliefs, what to do eh? lol

  • So did Terry do it all by himself or just design it and then have an unceredited crew do it for him?

  • is there an actual artist for this song i know the name is brian

  • @colashanacogh Sonia Jones sang it

  • DUKE NUKEM!!!

  • aaah...BEST OPENING OF A MOVIE..EVER!..check it out..XD

  • Ventrilo Harassment!

  • Every movie intro should look like that one :)

(the singer's voice reminds me of the transvestite in Fisher King)

  • wich drougs do i have to take for making such a piece of art ?? :D

  • All the destruction caused by Constantine's flying head!!! Absurd!!! XD)))

What's not so funny is that the changes Constantine wrought led to the destruction of the Roman Empire and Greco-Roman civilisation.

  • @EdM021= I thought it was my ancestors that brought about the destruction of Greco-Roman civilization.

  • @vigo894 Are your ancestors the germanic tribes (goths, ostrogoths, vandals, etc) that flooded the west half?

  • @EdM021= Visigoths, yes.

  • @vigo894 And they were Christian (Arian branch) because Constantine and the Christian emperors after him allowed the church to, or actively engaged in, persecution of those the catholic faction deemed 'heretics.' Ergo, the Arians went beyond the limits of Rome and converted the germanic tribes, save the Angl;es, Saxons and Jutes.

  • @vigo894 Christianity was the cause of Rome's fall.

  • Poor Brian seems to fall a lot. And then he didn't even get in heavenD;

I watched this movie the day before yesterday:)

  • Omg at the End it was Icrusus

  • WHO SANG THIS!!! i THOUGHT IT WAS LULU!!!!! LOL

  • @diamantinadavina The Welsh actress in the film. I forgot her name now.

  • life of brian is the greatest

    python theme.

  • life of brian is the greatest

    python theme. lol.

  • this is probably the best theme they eva done LOL

  • Definitely the best opening credits of any film. The Pythons broke the mould with their groundbreaking often surreal comedy and paved the way for all to follow after them,League of gentlemen,Little Britain etc!

  • Great stuff and what a killer tune/voice, fantastic brass too. Cheers

  • "Life of Brian". When the Pythons collaborated with a Beatle.

  • Ive got balls of steel!!!!

    ;)

  • @Verd1m5 Get the fuck out my vent!!!!

  • @trollainas xP

  • Let that be a lesson to you; fly too high and you'll hit the sun and burn yourself.

  • I think this is inspired of Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger

  • Comment removed

  • 2:00-21 How did they get away with that???

  • That has to be the maddest opening-credits I've seen yet!

  • oh god this opening is so fucking epic. *nostalgia'd*cummed*cried*laughed*everything!!!!*

  • Terry Gilliam's animations used to scare me when I first watched them. Now they're seriously some of the greatest, funniest stuff I've ever seen! :D

  • too bad the animator suffered a fatal heart attack

  • looking for a version without lyrics

  • isn't the singer the same that sings the theme for Goldfinger ?

  • @KuriousJoe1 No, it's not Shirley Bassey :D

  • GET THE FUCK OFF MY VENT

  • @RottSimba or I'll have you bent

  • @4MiFans I've got balls of steel

  • I had never read the lyrics, and now that I have, my respect and love for Michael Palin have gotten even bigger (if it was possible).

  • sounds like a bond song

  • The song's instruments and vocals were almost too good for this silly (but funny) comedy. It felt more at home with a genuinely dramatic film.

The lyrics sound right at home for a Monty Python film :)

  • BRITAIN IS THE BEST THUMBS UP IF YOU THINK SO!

  • I GOT BALLS OF STEEL!!! XD

  • why is it higher pitch than the real one

  • Magnificently epic

  • An incredible opening for the greatest comedy ever. I think the way the guy(Brian?) in this opening is being thrown around symbolises the way how people were and are so sheeplike when it comes to religion.

  • The song wouldn't sound out of place in a Bond film ^_^

  • Epic song!

  • Get off vent or ill have you bent

  • Who's the singer?

  • Sonia Jones

  • lol i love this song let alone the movie, can u get it on itunes?

  • @MrsSimLuva it's on their Sings album

  • Ventrilo Harassment.

  • one the best openings of all time!

  • Balls of steeeel. Balls of steeeel. Balls of steeeel. Balls of steeeel. Balls of steeeel. Balls of steeeel. Balls of steeeel. Balls of steeeel. Balls of steeeel. Balls of steeeel.

  • its time to kick ass and chew bubble gum

  • @crapo...

lol, I didn't see your post before I wrote mine but I just have to say. I'mma mess you up. OLD STYLE.

  • @crapoartworks blow it out your ass! LOL

  • Beautiful, beautiful song... the lyrics were written by Michael Palin if I'm not mistaken

Terry Gilliam is simply a genious, the best animator ever!!

  • @SYLVIACOHEN Yup, he did write them...And I agree about Gilliam :)

  • Oddmartian2...thx for uploading...you are god

  • @Oddmartian2 lol my name is brian lol

  • @SYLVIACOHEN I don't know if I could classify a song discussing "having one off the wrist" as beautiful. but I will say on its behalf that it is absolutely hilarious.

  • epic

  • best comedy film ever

  • One of the greatest comic films of the history !!

    Grande

  • 'One off the wrist'....amazing! Lol!

  • But the song was actually sung by Sonia Jones

  • No, I thought it was Shirley Bassey for the last 30 yrs too. Would make a Great OO7 music opening.

  • Am I the only one who thought Shirley Bassey was singing this for the last 30 frinkin years???

  • Anybody else feel like a little giggle when I mention my fwiend Biggus...Dickus?

What about you, do you find it wissible when I saaaay the name...Biggus! Dickus!

  • EPIC

  • @TomthatiscalledTom Im coming brother, I may be of thome athith-tance if there ith a thudden crithith

    Bigus Dickus ftw :D

  • monte pyton best comedy ever man...

this humor is the best their is: he had arms and legs and hands an feet XD

  • Thanks flybreath for sharing - I always remember the first time I saw this at the Cinema - A combination of sacrilege and pure comic genius. Python at their Best.

  • And things started to grow, On young Brian and so, He was certainly no, No girl named Brian, Not a girl named Brian. And he started to shave, And have one off the wrist, And want to see girls, And go out and get pissed A man called Brian. This man called Brian. The man they called Brian. This man called Brian
  • Brian...the babe they called Brian, Grew...grew, grew and grew, Grew up to be, Grew up to be, A boy called Brian, A boy called Brian. He had arms, and legs, and hands, and feet This boy whose name was Brian, And he grew, grew, grew and grew, Grew up to be, Yes he grew up to be, A teenager called Brian, A teenager called Brian. And his face became spotty Yes his face became spotty, And his voice dropped down low,
  • The opening song dosent get enough recognition despite it's brilliance, because of the end song. You know the one.

  • yea the always look on the bright side one. i prefer this one though cos its more funny!!

  • no way! the movie would hav been noway near as good without always look on the bright side of life!

  • definatly not but this song is better than always look on the bright side of life

  • are you serious? That's the weakest part for me. yes, it's funny the first time, but I prefer the rest of the film.

  • 5/5 Best song ever

  • I've been looking for this! It's been in my head all weekend.

"He was certainly no...no girl named Brian!"

  • I've got balls of steel...

  • HA! a biblical epic with a bond-like theme tune, genius.

  • It's completely nonsense, isn't it? Awesome :). And this woman has an incredible voice!

  • Absolutely

    Brian

    (horns)

    Brian

    The horns are mindblowin'
