Your example of clip size is one way they try to dictate what is defined as a 'reasonable' firearm. You may not need 32 rounds to defend yourself but if you allow them to keep picking away and deciding what is and isn't necessary or what your rights are then you will eventually wind up with a cap gun- meanwhile the military and 'authorities' get to come knocking with full body armor and a howitzer.

We have a right to bear arms for protection against tyranny and then only in militias. But that clause of the constitution has been interpreted to include personal ownership. You may not need 32 rounds to defend yourself but if you allow them to keep picking away and deciding what is and isn't necessary or what your rights are then you will eventually wind up with a cap gun- meanwhile the military and 'authorities' get to come knocking with full body armor and a howitzer.

The problem is that too many gun owners are all to quick to pull the trigger. They are not equipped mentally to handle such a device. Or they have a temper and turn criminal themselves, commiting crimes such as shooting an unfaithful partner.

We have a right to bear arms for protection against tyranny and then only in militias. But that clause of the constitution has been interpreted to include personal ownership. I'm fine with that and I like shooting but would have a hard time actually shooting a person. Crime wasn't the original consideration.

BUT if you replace guns with Tasers OR some sort of stun gun that does the job efficiently- then you reduce all the accidental shootings/deaths that occure on a daily basis in schools etc.

I am going to laugh hysterically at you gun control people, when your police system fails where you live and all you have is your wooden spatula. Lucky for me I live in a state where I can have guns to protect myself. Someone breaks into my house, they are going to meet the business end of my Mossberg loaded with 3 inch slugs. @masonTganes Well there in itself lies the responsibility of the parent or guardian to make sure that never happens. There is no EXCUSE for a minor or mentally challenged person getting a gun. I myself know for a fact my kid(s) would never get a hold of my gun.
If the kid was able to get it out of the safe. I ask... How would he know the combination? Or code? Whatever.

A child can find a way to hack a safe. A child can have social issues that the parent would never be aware of. Its just one of many things to consider.
I support "blowing away" an intruder.
BUT i dont know if i agree with a "hidden gun" permit. The gun should be ONLY in the home.

I aint fumbling through no safe to get my gun when someone is breaking into my home.
I keep one gun accessible with ammo in it. All I have to do is rack one in the chamber.
My kids have fired it so they know better than to play with it.
I may some day build a better location for it with an electronic quick open door activated by a touch sensor just to hide it better than it is, but locking guns up in combo safes and keeping them without ammo makes you a victim.
