I make mine differently than you, I take the veggies and ruff cut into lager pieces, For the sardines, I leave in the bones, but put the veggies and sardines all into the food processor, I add Olive oil about 3 table spoons and more lime, and some garlic & onion powder to taste, chop in the processes until the right consistency is achieved.
I tried this dish tonight and it was good. I changed one thing. I soaked the fish in the 1/2 lemon and 1/2 lime. I followed all the other directions. The pre-soaked juice took the fishy taste out about 75%. I also mad your youtube.com/watch?v=2BQdZ0L_66o to go with this and good God that was outstanding. What a combo on white or brown rice. A 10+ on the dishes.
I do NOT recommend brunswick sardines..very low quality...go with Chicken of the Sea..high quality...price is comparable. I eat a lot of sardines..2 cans EVERY day
The bones are really healthy true. But take it from a guy who ate anchovies for years and got a anchovy bone jammed in his throat. I remove them now because I don't like the idea of having to go to the ER again for microsurgery.
This might sound gross..but I make the same way except I cooked my onions and tomatoes, garlic etc then add the sardines to the heat and lastly scramble in an egg or two and smne pepper sauce..yeh, sure it sounds gross but it sure taste gud....lol

The soft bones in sardines are where you get all the calcium from. Leave the bones in!

This is a keeper. I like sardines but do not know many ways to prepare them. This is an excellent one.
