@khufu65 Yeah she doesn't look stereotypically arabs and most probably isn't arab att all. Some people think that just because you speak arab and are Muslim that u are arab. These people have never been in Saudi Arabia, where they will quickly tell you that ARE not arab. I know sudanse who more or less look the part (and of course talk arabic) and even they are told in clear language they are not and never will arab.

Does anybody know the ages of these documents. Are they all in the same language, ie in Abarbic. Do they all originate from the same area or they from all over Africa and elsewhere. This is facinating. :)

@Valthepixie Well they are written with Arabic alphabet, but they languages are usually not arabic. Well the documents are mainly from west africa and and parts of north west africa as well as possibly Andalusia. Also Morocco posses many many manuscripts from Timbuktu (the Moroccan ruler during 16 th century attacked the city and stole a lot priceless artifacts)

This American would love to go see Timbuktu, Mali...there's so much that i could learn from that place. Africa should have much pride in this place.

Who says Africa doesn't have pride in it? Many of the manuscripts were hidden from those looking to plunder, hence the reason it has taken so long to come to the "western" fore.

SubhanAllah, Timbuktou is a gem of the Muslim world, I hope the stupid American tourists and others dont come with bad values and act ignorant but respect and learn.

It is not the American tourists that worry me but our own people of African descent who frown up anything of African origin. Swopping this gem should never of been an option for the racism of the so called developed world. The illusion of delusion has been rooted firmly in the hearts of many. Turning back to the true way of life and re-education is the key to this continents and those scattered across the worlds success. There is no credit crunch in Timbuktu. Would love to visit there.
