Butlers Wharf is really good.

Butlers Wharf is arranged into flats so you have your own room but the communal area is shared with about 5 or 6 other people. Although it is postgrad preferred a lot of undergrads do end up getting allocated at BW so you won't be the only fresher there. BW is very modern and clean unlike the other halls which have pest problems and are generally pretty run down.

If it's for a course that asks for A Level MATHS then you won't get in. Economics requires knowledge of calculus which you don't learn in Stats A Level.

No, A Level STATS (all stats modules) is different to A Level Maths (C1-C4 + 2 modules)

In my opinion, you could study at Rotterdam Erasmus school of economics, is far better and above all much much cheaper!

Are you insane? RESE far better than the LSE? Since when? That's ludicrous.

Not that rankings are a good indication of anything, but as a guide, LSE is third best uni in the world (after Harvard & Berkley) in social sciences. And far higher than Oxbridge, Columbia, Yale, etc. RESE is way, way down the list.

I know that rankings like these are often rubbish, but the fact is that there are few -very few- universities in the world that a "far better" than the LSE.

I really want to do my masters there. Yet, not only is it probably more difficult to get into than Cambridge, but the cost of studying there is also considerably higher than anywhere else - and not just taking London prices into account; this is clearly for wealthy foreign students!

Ironic considering Marxism and social equality is presumably discussed so much within those walls.

Absolutely not!

Any standard university and it's 3k - even then you've probably got to raise the money up front yourself (especially if it's social science). I want to do a postgrad but I reckon one day I'd find myself looking at the 3k I've raised and think "Fuck it, I'm going to New York for a few months"

Thankyou someone who agrees with me. I want to do a masters in IR because I want to do a PhD. I have a high GPA and could prob get into most places outside oxbridge. Then I look at the prices and think fuck it! As you say you could work for a year whilst travelling and then go somewhere with a very good department and less money. Aberystwyth has one of the best departments and it is only 3k. So what is going on with these prices?

I mean people will feed you BS about the teaching quality of LSE and Oxbridge but ultimately, 5 star research is 5 star research. So I say to hell with LSE. London Swindling Economists. In the nicest possible way.

13k pounds is cheap for a masters compared to any university in the US, which costs around 30k for a masters.
