  • This whole think comfuses the crap out of me

  • @bassclarinetcrazy

Try the new way to read bass clef tutorial then ...

  • I like this chart. alot but i'm not sure if you could do this for all songs and even if you could, you couldn't get the nuances of certain music in. I think this could be used as a supplement along with the actual music sheet and that would be pretty good especially for beginners.

  • While novel, your notation method is severely limited. It encrypts the registral and temporal dimensions of the piece, making it unmusical. Thoroughly impractical and unrewarding for any serious student of music!

  • @wogandmush

Any notation only shows the notes and timing. It is up to the player as to whether they interpret the notation musically or not. Keep in mind that this chart is not the full Express Stave Notation, but a practical substitute for all the rote learning videos on YouTube which contain no notation at all.

  • I think this is a superb method for beginners and probably professionals aswell, it very easy to understand. The quality of the video is also very excellent. You are a very good teacher! How did you come up with this brilliant method?

  • Excellent video for the beginner player. Very easy to understand, awesome teacher.!

  • if i had this chart when i was first learning moonlight sonata, it wouldve been really easy to get the notes right.

  • moonlight sonata was my very first concert song! i think the chart is great, if i had that when i learned, it wouldve really helped. :)

  • i will be truthfull on this one i dont play piano so i dont under stan where each note goes i dont even no what note it starts on i think its c but anyways i understood your method of teching it is a very good way to teach beggineers how to play

  • Hello, I understand it perfectly, and it is a wonderful method of learning and memorising a piece of music. I am fairly new to music so i can confidently say, without embarrassing myself, that i have never seen this kind of teaching. Did you invent this yourself?

One quick question though, if a student were to learn this style, how would the student go about incorporating this new skill into traditional note reading and writing? (i've seen part 2 as well)

  • @achekyule

Thanks for your very nice comment! Yes i invented the notation myself. And I am working on a way to teach Express Stave (ES) along with traditional notation (TN). To give you some idea, look at my video How to read the bass clef. It uses the reverse colour version. I hope I can successfully incorporate ES with TN into my next beginners piano book.

  • I get it!! :D Your a very clever person ^_^

  • good approach Thanks

  • Another song I taught in this way is Weezer's "Pork and Beans". It is the only piano tutorial of this song.

  • Wow mr k! this is a great method of teaching this piece, very easy to understand. i think i could pick this song up again very easily watching this video.

  • Great charts! Even I can understand.
