This song premiered at the Miller theatre in Wichita, KS, around '65. Mr. Finnigan was in a armored car and they pulled up to the front entrance of the theatre, and then all of the fans were let in to listen to it and cheer on Mr. Finnigan and the Serfs at the Miller Theatre. For Wichita, it was as if the Beatles had come to town. We still revere him today, as he was one of the few who brought live music to Wichita for the youngsters of that day. What memories!
I have immense respect for Mike for his talent and his body of work over the years. Remarkable gifts he made use of and still does. I know he would say it has been a labor of love. My time spent with Mike in the Serfs (as bassist, vocalist 1964-65) remains one of the richest memories of my life. Like others lucky enough to have been around Mike over the years, I thank my stars for the experience.

It was a pretty good band. Jim Williams on lead (Strat and Jazzmaster), Bert Timms on bass (Gibson EBO), Joey Villifane (B3/Leslie) and you on drums. I can't remember the other guitar player's name he was red headed and played my guitar and amp for a while (3 pick-up harmony through a Gibson amp) (cont)>
@cruzin05 (part 2) I remember he had red hair. I think that all of you were in the Air Force. I am not sure about Joey. Jim was one of my best friends and at that time I was trying to learn the bass. I had bought a Jazz Bass but at the time the band was formed. I still sucked. Bert was a much better player than I was and was cute. I remember than Finn sat in with the band before the formation of the Serfs. You, Bert and the guitar player went directly on to the Serfs and probably didn't.
@cruzin05 (part 3) You guys probably didn't need to move your equipment an inch. I may be wrong but I think that Finn might have even played Joey's Hammond for a while. The Serfs of course were a legendary Kansas band. However, the Camelots were pretty good too. I especially like "St. James Infirmary Blues" on which Jim played the trumpet. Hope all is going well for you. John
