As far as I remember, there are lines in Metro de Barcelona where the electricity is taken from a third rail.
I know the general rule in mero networks, at lest in Europe, is to get electricity from a third rail. Spain is generally the exception: The whole network of Madrid metro, Valencia metro, Bilbao metro, Sevilla metro and I do not remember the percentage in Barcelona metro, do take the electricity from a catenary.
There were two lines doing that third rail stuff, 1 (red line) and 4 (yellow line). But, as you can see, things have changed and now all the metro lines are using pantographs.
