Performance would be overkill considering 1 9800 GTX runs this game at 50fps. But it's always good to be up to date with technology. Those cards are around $700 each right now haha, or more but if you give it a few months they should become affordable. Or just buy a GTX 280 if you're really impatient. haha

for those who say nvidia ist better... the ati was only a 4870 512mb.. its lack of ram causes it to suck at these high resolutions. a 1gb 4870 wouldve been a better pick for comparison. furthermore the 4870 matches with the gtx260.. take the 4890x2 or the new 5870 and it will score WAY higher than the gtx280.
btw i live in germany. i know that nvidia is supposed to be cheaper than ati in the us but in here its the other way around. the 4870 1gb prices from 110€-170€ the gtx260 from 140€-190€
on cod 4 maxed, and max reso. around 70 fps, crysis with max settings and reso, around 40 fps, and other games everything max and reso max around 35-40... hope that makes you feel better about spending so much money! lol

9800 GX2 HAS MORE FPS THEN THE REST IN THIS VIDEO THE HIGHEST IT WENT WAS 110 FPS ATI mostly got around 50-60 and it locks around 65 fps it can't go any more higher. The 9800 GX2 is a beast, so if you can pick that one up lol. The 280 is the best, if your looking for an average of like 70+ frames per second, and the 9800 GX2 is just beastly all the same, but a hell of alot cheeper.
keep in mind the are very old drivers try this with the ati 9.9 drivers i get 1080 score in vantage my 9800gx2 cant even get 4000 and not to mention that i have the 4870 1Gb

2nd the fastest card on the planet is nVidia Tesla, but probably the best quadro fx would be able to keep up with the tesla.
Yeah ATi is best in gaming, but they need to start working on some gpus that crush rendering programs like a bug.

@muppetowner I'm a huge fan of ATI/AMD but when the 495's and 680's come out, the 6970 won't be able to handle it. BTW : They discontinued the 6990.

I could see the color was correct on the GTX280 and the ATI 4870 the lighting seemed better to me on the 4870
also noticed it seemed the particals were more numerous and crisp on the 4870
the 4890 makes this all a mute point

Look at the FPS the 9800GX2 is running.Hes running at least a good 60,70 FPS on max settings and the 4870 is only running like 40 or 50 FPS.I say the GX2 is way better

everybody knows it has to be the gtx 280, because a gtx 280 pares with a ati 4890 which is alot better then ati 4850, 9800gt x2 is almost as good as a gtx 280 though

Intel i7 920 beats any AMD' Phenom by 20-30 % in speed and like 10-20% in games so stfu amd's fanboys,altho ati is much better and cheaper then nvidia my intel i7 920 and ati 5970 kills all phenoms and geforces :D

Nvidia has a bit more performance, but ati has a better price to performance ratio, a $x ati card will offer more performance than a $x nvidia card.
Think like this a $2000 bike doing 125mph(nvidia) vs $1500 bike doing 121mph(ati)
Given a choice, i'll go with ati.

for those who say nvidia ist better... the ati was only a 4870 512mb.. its lack of ram causes it to suck at these high resolutions. a 1gb 4870 wouldve been a better pick for comparison. furthermore the 4870 matches with the gtx260.. take the 4890x2 or the new 5870 and it will score WAY higher than the gtx280.

btw i live in germany. i know that nvidia is supposed to be cheaper than ati in the us but in here its the other way around. the 4870 1gb prices from 110€-170€ the gtx260 from 140€-190€

on cod 4 maxed, and max reso. around 70 fps, crysis with max settings and reso, around 40 fps, and other games everything max and reso max around 35-40... hope that makes you feel better about spending so much money! lol

hey i love ati,ive got a phenom II 940 black edition,an athlon 64/6000x2 , a phenom 8750x3 black edition and a spare athlon 64/3800x2 but AMD isnt better than i5, they arent bud,sorry i want them to be so badly but they just dont bench as fast,game as fast or do much of anything as fast.they ALMOST DO !
check toms hardware,pcsecrets,anandtech,maximum pc,cpu magazine or any other pc sites that do testing and benchmarks,if the amd was faster
it would be more expensive,thats it!

9800 GX2 HAS MORE FPS THEN THE REST IN THIS VIDEO THE HIGHEST IT WENT WAS 110 FPS ATI mostly got around 50-60 and it locks around 65 fps it can't go any more higher. Nvidia takes it's time to make thos Graph cards the ATI also takes it's time but they usely just but the same thing and change it a little tho. BUT I'M STAYING FOR NVIDIA. IT KICKS ASS. NVIDIA4LIFE!!

The 9800 GX2 is a beast, so if you can pick that one up lol. The 280 is the best, if your looking for an average of like 70+ frames per second, and the 9800 GX2 is just beastly all the same, but a hell of alot cheeper.

keep in mind the are very old drivers try this with the ati 9.9 drivers i get 1080 score in vantage my 9800gx2 cant even get 4000 and not to mention that i have the 4870 1Gb
