The prosperity people achieve by being willing to just try is what enables us to care for the sick and the handicapped and the poor and destitute. You might want to add hydrogen fuel cells and E80 for powering cars to that list.

In my opinion the only viable, long term clean energy source is geothermal. But it will take some initial investment in the technology to make an economy of scale for it. Sadly, nobody, not even this administration seems interested in doing that.
