now a days its not the type of car you have it's how much money you have. I raced a twin turbo supra. An older one and I barely beat it. I have a Procharged Firehawk. So whoever has more money willo probably come out on top. Just my opinion
@02stang951, first off, see my last replay. second, I SAID AROUND 275 AND AROUND 300, i didnt say exactly 275 horsepower you moron. second even at 3163lbs curb weight, ITS STILL LIGHTER. THEY ARE AT A ROLL NOT A DIG YOU IDIOT. weight distribution is minimal. and 2nd roll, camero clearly spun. or missed a gear. why do you think the mazda jumped wayyy out . obviously hes not running nos. again. HORSEPOWER AND WEIGHT WERE ESTIMATED. the mazda is clearly lighter. with ABOUT the same tq. DO THE MATH
@JPARKERZ28 if you read my original post i say AROUND 300/330 camaro and 275/280 mazda. You can look it up on any real car site, not some secondary information site. I didnt use wiki dumbass. power/torque advantage as oppose to weight advantage they are comparibly even. Do your math ehh. 300-500 lb difference between the two minimize power advantage. traction plays a role as well. rear as oppose to front, theres a big difference. Get your facts straight.
@skitzosmurf2007 ok i went back and read some of your other comments (yes i like to argue)... and then i read one comment where you said front wheel drive gives you more traction... sorry not even from a roll. there is a reason the fastest cars in the 1/4 are rear wheel drive. even from a roll weight is transferred to the back wheels. notice on drag cars front or rear drive they have wheelie bars to keep the front tires on the ground... thanks for showing everybody your knowledge on cars.
@JPARKERZ28 drag cars are completely different from street cars. they are built specifically from sheet metal and run the largest slicks possible for traction. And there are front wheel cars that are just as fast in the quarter, look it up. These cars are far from drag cars. and if you have ever driven in the snow(obviously you havent) rear wheel drive cars have much less traction due to lack of weight. But ok. You can continue to believe whatever you want.
@skitzosmurf2007 you do know top fuel cars run in the 4s in the 1/4... all are rwd. and the fastest fwd is low 7 i think one just did a high 6, but that is far from the rwd cars. in fact they changed the rules to slow the top fuel guys down. and i am from northern michigan born and raised 21 years there. weight tranfer ALWAYS favors rwd cars. why is it there are no fwd supercars? hmmm i wonder.
You have the weight of the engine on the front you morons. yes, there is some weight distribution but the fact of the matter is , it doesnt matter how much weight distribution you have, when you have more weight on the front tires you get better traction. and if you watch the video THEY ARE GOING FROM A ROLL YOU IDIOTS not a dig. when you are going from a roll there is a big difference between weight distribution , if you watch race two the camero clearly spun. (HENCE THE DRASTIC LEAD.
@skitz... Have you ever heard of a term called weight transfer... It drastically favors RWD... When it comes to straight line traction RWD is better suited... You can have the best tires in the world in a FWD and you'll still spin off the line... In a RWD with the same tires you might get whiplash... Do some research before you decide to have diarrhea of the mouth
@ispool maybe the problem is your driving... You've had 9+ different tuners in about a 7 yr span if you're telling the truth... You don't seem like a viable source for gauging the true performance of any one car... Kinda like that kid in high school who was good at every sport but wasn't great at any of em...
intake and exhaust on a high displacement engine make a HUGE difference and on the ls1 a tune is not that necessary. my car now has a MAF censor and cold air intake and the catback exhaust with a diablosport home tune and im estimating its making around 310whp and the torque is much higher. it keeps up with evos making 315whp at low end and pulls on them high end.
Naw buddy I meant the piece of crap camaro. 350z is ok. I don`t know to much about american cars. I do know that they are all noise tho. so funny how a 4 cylinder car will take these huge ass engines.
read up on LS1s dude before you say anything about american cars are crap... The LS Series motor is the best motor america has come up with.. and they basicly fit in anything you want.. im a import guy but i know my place to respect american cars.. ive seen a few 9 second camaraos in my day.. and they daily drive them too.
im aware of how good the ls1 but the car again weighs alot so unless he had more done i dont see it beatin the mazda that badly, maybe by a little only bc the mazda is fwd and would get kille doff the line
The FBODY weighs 3400lbs and the MS3 weighs like 3200lbs- the LT1 generation (car in the video) is rated similar 1/4 time as the MS3 (low 14 second range). The LS1 however is rated at 13.3-13.5 in stock form. If you add intake and exhaust the car could feasibly be high 12s.
first off you were discussing engine mods only, no one ever said anything about put different tires on bc everyone knows thats makes a huge difference in launching, i stand by what i said about exhaust and intake not making that big of a difference on a N/A car. Look im not saying that the LS1 isnt a great engine most people consider it one of the best engines ever built, i just dont see that camaro beating that ms3 so bad stock to stock or a Z.
Actually with a bigger displacement engine intake and exhaust make a bigger difference than on a smaller displacement. For example, the 1994 LT1 Camaro rated at 275hp and a 14.2 1/4 then you have the 1997 Camaro SS that is rated 305hp and a 13.7 1/4 mile. The only difference between the two (besides rim/street tire selection, functional ram air hood and spoiler- that all add a little weight) is the intake and exhaust that the '97 SS gets from SLP stock.
well foriegn is usually better but z28 will beat 350z depending again on the driver but the z28 will be the faster car maybe not better racing. but ms3 is where its at its a bad car all around and cheaper than 350z and faster than all z28 except for the newest one coming out and the millenium edition camaro.
MS3 is not faster than the Camaro stock for stock- the Camaro in this video is an LT1 (1993-1997, rated 275-285hp), the LS1 (1998-2002, rated 305-320hp) is a mid-low 13 second car STOCK
Who calls LS1 the millennium Camaro anyway? The LS1 started in 1997 in the Corvette and in 1998 in the Camaro-Trans Am.
Both cars are amazing cars.. not matter how much crap someone can talk about them. Ive driven both and honestly id pick a camaro over a ms3 just because theres more available mods for it than the ms3. but the ms3 handles amazing, not that i need to tell yall that but yeah. From a roll this was an even race.
what's up with camaro ppl thinking they are the fastest cars ever? from a roll a stock LS1 camaro isn't ANY faster than a MS3. in the quarter mile they are a little faster bc they are rwd. besides camaros are terrible cars so being kinda fast in a straight line is all they have going for them anyways.
@daileydouble47 wow, funny how ppl dont know what they are talking about. one the mazda is lighter. two when a car is front wheel drive IT GIVES MORE TRACTION DUMBASS , when a car has rear wheel drive , its lighter in the ass end , therefore providing more wheel spin. get your facts right , before you talk shit. a 3500 to 3600 lb car as appose to a 2600 to 2900 lb car makes a big difference. camaro is around 300 base hp 330 tq as appose to mazda's 275 base hp, 280 lb tq. good job camaro
@skitzosmurf2007 dude you dumb you got everything wrong when you accelerate were does all the weight go, the back the front lifts up dumbass the speed weighs about 3200 not 2900 mazda has 263 not 275
how are camaros terrible cars? a 4th gen f body with good tires will outhandle that mazda. and not much faster? a completely stock 6 speed cars have been 12.9s in the quarter, thats faster than almost every imported car under 40k stock for stock
ive had evo 8,9, and 10s, rx8s, 350s, rxs type s and a few stis that wouldnt hold turns as well as my stock 99 ss with the factory slp suspension package
then i guess you'd havw to find a different Z to run than mine bc im running a single turbo and currently at 412 rwhp and thats only at 7psi, soo i guess youll have to find some other N/A Z. oh well...
yeah heres the thing, that ms3 wouldnt have lost, it weighs nothing compared to the z28 and if you only have an exhaust theres no way it woulda won. ive seen the ms3 beat 350z's with no mods what so ever and a stock 350z would destroy a z28 unless you have a ridiculous z28 from back in the day before they got gay in the mid 70's
If I remember correctly, LT1 Z28's ran 0-60 in the very low 5's from the early 90's through the end of production, and the 350Z is close. MS3 will not launch well enough to keep up from 0, but it should compete well with either Z28 or 350Z from a roll. MS3is light and has a boatload of torque.
Here's the thing, the MS3 weighs like 3200lbs and the LS1 weighs 3400lbs (not a huge difference) and then there's the 305 (stock rated hp- but LS1 guys will argue it's more like 350hp) and 335 torque at 4000RPM vs the 263hp (stock rating for the MS3) and 280 torque at 3000RPM. Those numbers clearly indicate that the Z28 is faster period.
Until recently the 350z only had 260-285hp and were rated in the 14 second 1/4 mile range. LS1 FBODYs have always been rated in the mid-to-low 13 second range
where the fuck are u getting 260 from lol? learn your shit man bc thats way off base, way way off base. and if thats the case that the camaro ls1 weighs 3400lbs which i think your underestimating a bit it still weighs more than a z mine only weighs in at 3327 and if the hp difference is only 18 hp, (z rated at 287 before hr engine came out) then that weight difference if only about 50-100 lbs the z cult beat it, it most liekly would come down to driver so i guess im just that good a drvier then
I thought that's what they were rated before 2005, I guess not. SO I was a little off on the horsepower rating, they were still rated at low 14s in the 1/4 mile until the engine in 2007 and other NISMO models.
I understand the driver importance part, my experience so far has consisted of smoking 350z models from a roll and a stop. The only 2007 model that I have knowingly raced was a vert (you can tell the 2007 by the bulge in the hood). I'm sure there are faster ones, I haven't seen any yet
Also remember that the LS1 FBODY is widely considered to be under rated in horsepower- it's exactly the same engine as in the C5 Corvette and the Vette is rated at 350hp. You deduct the advantage of true dual exhaust that the Corvette benefits from (like 10-15hp) and you come out with a number closer to 335-340hp.
Now you won't see that figure anywhere but that's what the stock numbers show and that is what is widely believed to be the true stock crank horsepower of the LS1.
im aware of how the 07 ones differ in appearance from other models before it. Theres a site where it lists an 03 z at 13.9 and others say 14.0 respectively. Im sure if you put slicks on that it would put up much better numbers too i dont see the point your trying to make here lol. Ive raced plenty of camaros and haven't lost yet too, even way before my ST kit was on i beat them.
Here's the point: you said Camaro's shouldn't be beating 350z by that much with the weight and hp differential you thought existed between the two. I explained why there probably is a larger hp differential (the hp ratings I mentioned for FBODYs) which explains LS1s are flat out rated faster than 350zs. That's the point. 13.9-14.0 doesn't beat 13.3-13.6
You say you've beaten many Camaros, fine that's your experience. Mine has been the converse, I've beaten every N/A 350z I've raced.
Should be about 2k for all parts and stuff. My friend and I will do the labor, should give me close to 400rwhp after tune and everything. Not bad for an LT1.
got more footage last night! as for road course, i think thats where my speed would shine, but we arent sure considering we have NO where near us to find out.
On a road course? Mazdaspeed 3 is most definitely built for windy road races. They are very light. The camaro is a big bodied, meaty engine meant for tearing up the quarter which they do very well. The MS3 runs a 13.9 second 1/4 stock @ 101mph or so .. Not bad for a stock 4 cylinder :-)
Ahahahaha got sandbagged by the Speed3

im aware of how the 07 ones differ in appearance from other models before it.

Mine has been the converse, I've beaten every N/A 350z I've raced.

ok. it dun matter much anyway lol im trading my 03 Z for a new R32. Have you done anythign else to the camaro lately?

no doubt man how much is that gonn run you all together with labor and eveyrthing, unless your ding some of the work yourself of course
iamkeithhofmann 3 years ago
Should be about 2k for all parts and stuff. My friend and I will do the labor, should give me close to 400rwhp after tune and everything. Not bad for an LT1.

If yoru camaro is stock I would have taken with no problem with my mods. Nice footage though.

got more footage last night! as for road course, i think thats where my speed would shine, but we arent sure considering we have NO where near us to find out.

my problem also. :(

Looks like they are pretty close with a slight edge to the Camaro. Any idea how they compare on a road course?
VAspeed3 4 years ago
On a road course? Mazdaspeed 3 is most definitely built for windy road races. They are very light. The camaro is a big bodied, meaty engine meant for tearing up the quarter which they do very well. The MS3 runs a 13.9 second 1/4 stock @ 101mph or so .. Not bad for a stock 4 cylinder :-)
foxized 4 years ago
the ms3 is heavier then you'd think, 3200 pounds.
lujoebonjo 4 years ago
You mean that MS3 runs a 13.9 1/4 mile? because the MS3 is rated between 14.6 - 14.0 depending on the year.
Not bad for stock 4 cylinder with a turbo.

i drive the camaro. second race im pretty sure either my foot stuck to the side carpet a little bit or the tranny didnt downshift to 1st gear.
you can hear the difference between race 2 and 3.
