Help ...what are these rumors that Bishop denounced baptism in Jesus name ...this has upset me..I don't believe this..help

@praywithangel - He did not denounce it or go against it. What he did say was that people were looking at Acts 2:37-38 making JUST those verses the complete doctrine of baptism which is incorrect...

He explained that there was a reason on the day of Pentecost for Peter to emphasize the fact of being baptized in Jesus. I will explain...

Peter started speaking in Act 2:14 to defend the move of the Holy Spirit, clarified the prophesy of Joel, & spoke of...

@praywithangel -Jesus Christ of Nazareth (a place to the Jews nothing good ever came from), who they killed, died & rose & is sitting beside God.

After the Jew heard this they were pricked and asked what they should do. Peter said Repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus.

To a JEW, this meant completely turning from Judaism, sacrifices, and the deeds of the law - IN JESUS NAME would mean excommunication from the temple, etc, etc

In Jesus name ONLY is a Oneness idealogy....

@praywithangel - Bishop was saying we must use ALL that is in the Bible for each topic. HOw could anyone say, "you must only be baptised in Jesus name" where Jesus himself said, Baptize in the name of the Father, Son, & Holy Ghost.

Bishop said we MUST take everything that is said and not use dogmas from our parents and tradition

I worked and served under GE Patterson. His advice to young ministers was be grounded and sober. Don't be anxious and be obedient your Pastor. He taught us to respect leadership and not eat from everyones table. That is preachers that don't preach the Word of God in it's entirety.
