Poison was not a 90s band. Their debut album was released in 1986, and their second was in 1988. They had two more albums in 1990 and 1991 (technically the 90s), but they have done nothing since other than reunion tours and greatest hits albums. So since their height of popularity was in the 80s, and 1991 was their last original album, and they had big hair and the musical style of bands like Bon Jovi, White Lion and Europe, they are truly an 80s band (but still on the radio play in the 90s).
