Could you make a video after the mod? Because i did one myself, and it brought nothing to the sound :) After two hours of messing with screwdriver i found out that the factory settings were best :)
I plan on making another vid. When adjusting the trimpot I had the intensity up all the way. My next vid will show different trimpot settings. Long live univibe!
Yeah tried an adapter touched the screw driver to the speed knob pot and some smoke came out of the speed knob pot and the trimpot. I can still vary the brightness but didn't get any strobe. I remember smelling smoke when it first stopped strobing I think I got some fried chicken salad. It's just a nightlight right now.
Sorry to hear it. When you have it apart it pays to be careful not to let the two boards short on anything. If you get another one try a very small screwdriver. At least you tried messing with it, take it easy!
I was messin' with the trimpot after getting the top back on the photocell with the foil and it won't strobe any more. Confirmed when I removed the cover again and the light stays lit but will not strobe. I don't know what happened? this sucks.
If you turn the trimpot too far to the right the light will cycle very brightly, thus reducing the strobe. Try a setting between 12 oclock and 2 oclock. There needs to be a noticeable dimming in the cycle between the bright pulses. Let me know how it goes.
When I first got mine, I used a fresh battery. It very quickly stopped pulsing even tho the light was on. I now use an AC adapter only. Good to go! These things work a very short time on a battery. That is hopefully the issue. Let me know how an adapter works for you. - = pin, + = sleeve, 9volts, for the adapter.
I used a pencil to poke holes through the foil while it was on the lid. I stayed on good when I put it back on. I would use a piece of tape instead of glue. That way you can get it open easily if needed. Hav'ent tried drilling a hole for a trimpot knob, it is on my list to do. Hope this helps!
should you re-glue the photocell cover? You add the foil right? Have you tried drilling an access hole through the case to access the trimpot for future adjustments? thanks.
what kind of switch does this thing have? I'm hoping to rehouse a danelectro and the FABs have a really weird switch

Did you figure how to do this from my guitars101 tutorial?

I read about it somewhere, tried it and posted this video because I could not find a vid anywhere else. I thought it would help people to see it.

Yeah I think that was my tutorial, you even did the tin foil thing!! Great Job!

do the knobs come off? I cannot seem to remove the PCB from the casing.
Any help would be appreciated as I would like to do this mod.

I messed w/ the trimpot on my pepperoni phaser and it is awesome now. I am looking forward to messing w/ the chicken salad when it comes.

Cool! I played a Pepperoni Phaser a few weeks ago, nice. For such a reasonably priced pedal the Chicken Salad is pretty decent sounding.
