  • EXCELLENT SPEECH!

THE GOP IS IMMORAL AND HAS NO SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNES OR ANY SENSE OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY!

  • Make that FOUR uninteresting, unintelligent, and underwhelming posts. Bye.

  • Beloved Senator Bernie Sanders has the courage to stand up for the American people even when his colleagues like Senator Wellstone and others were slain for speaking truth to Power and fighting the ruthless military industrial complex worldwide. Peace.

  • If the Unfairness Doctrine and more regulation is Bernie's only answer to reforming the media (i.e. eliminating right wing talk radio), he's an even bigger idiot than I thought possible. God knows the left wingers can't get people to listen to their crappy communist radio shows. Air America anyone? So, if you can't win in the marketplace because listeners tune out your nonsense... just pass un-American legislation to limit free speech and bypass the whole process. Well done indeed.

  • He is a communist (at the very least, a self-described socialist) who is just as full of shit as the rest of the lefties. If Bernie's brains were dynamite he still couldnt blow his nose. And he's talking about ending CORPORATE control of the media. (Actually he just makes a political speech and plays class warfare rather than speak about media reform) If anything he wants to socialize the Left Wing Media even more than it already is by bringing in the gvt. It's his answer to everything.

  • yea hes a communist, yet he is speaking about government free media, u make alot of sense

  • zzzzzzzzz, Sanders is a communist. I bet he'd love it in China, Venezuela, N.K. or Iran.

  • ty ty

  • God Bless Bernie Sanders!

  • Bernie is as much an anarcho-capitalist as I am a cactus.

  • @JSMan55

    HAHA! You damned fool!

  • @MicrosoftWindowsGuy - You are the Microsoft fan who has wasted his time replying to a 2 year old thread with an uninteresting, unintelligent, and underwhelming post. Look in the mirror for your damned fool. HAHA!

  • @JSMan55

Actually, the whole "Microsoft fan" label is rather irrelevant anymore -- it's not as much of a concern as it used to be.

I commented on your comment since there weren't many comments in general. I normally do not comment on two year old comments.

Unintelligent? I suppose your factless claim that he is wrong on virtually every issue IS intelligent?

Perhaps we should have a civil discussion on ideology sometime. : ]

  • @MicrosoftWindowsGuy - make that TWO uninteresting, unintelligent, and underwhelming posts. If you want proof of how Sanders is wrong on every issue, I can provide it. Based on your initial post in this thread, I'm not convinced that you are capable of a civil discussion. Cheers!

  • @JSMan55

Well, I find your comments rather, how shall I say this? Ignorant? Yes. Accusations are a wonderful thing, don't you think?

I would suggest that perhaps the reason you say I'm not civil enough to have a civil discussion is because maybe, just maybe, you're afraid. But it's just a suggestion: nothing more, nothing less.

I would love to see how he is wrong (in your point of view) on every issue, by the way.

  • @MicrosoftWindowsGuy

Make that THREE uninteresting, unintelligent, and underwhelming posts.

The reason I KNOW you are incapable of engaging in a civil debate is the fact that you have now attempted to wage three unsolicited and banal ad hominem attacks against someone you don't even know. That's not typical behavior of a civil individual. So, the odds are against you on this one I'm afraid, old boy.

  • Furthermore, I couldn't care less what you think. I feel no compunction to engage an ill-equipped individual such as yourself in debate, as your capacity to either produce or comprehend cogent arguments is questionable at best. Nor do I wish to subject myself to your pathetic attempts at insults. For that I can simply attend a Code Pink rally, and at least be somewhat entertained.

  • As Socrates wisely observed, "When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser." Looks like you lost before the debate even began. Well done indeed. Ta!

  • @JSMan55

I didn't use slander. After all, you are the one who first called my comments, "uninteresting, unintelligent, and underwhelming... (a word I think you fabricated, by the way)".

We're debating? Well, I'll be. I thought you were just blowing smoke.

When ARE we going to get to the heart of the issue and discuss the Senator's positions, old bean?

  • Gee, if exposing big corporations and their puppet government is considered a display of finger wagging aunt Sally caricature, no wonder we are in this mess up to our eye balls. Bernie is a socialist in political spectrum but anarcho-capitalist/libertarian in economical spectrum.

  • Hmm, seems to supply most of the innovative, ambitious, hard working, entrepreneurs with a very good standard of living. If you believe that "most of us" don't have a decent standard of living, take another look at your community and your country. Your argument shows the need to transform places like N.O., Detroit, and Newark, N.J. that have been literally destroyed by liberals and their "programs" designed to "help". Or rather, just to keep them in power.

  • Crush the capitalists! Take their money! Give it to people who don't deserve it. Pocket some for yourself. Create class warfare and discord to secure votes and power. Prop up bloated bureaucracies and regulatory agencies so we can grind the US economy and government to a hault. Socialism! Gotta love it.

  • Just a bunch of sold out Czars of the west who get caught up in all the power and money, who think that they can stear this fascism by the sheeple by giving this propoganda false little titles like "Fairness" and "Reform," WHAT SCUM!

  • This is great!

  • Ur a usefull idiot, cant you see that this garbage came up as soon as the govt. pushed the "Imagration reform," and "Amnesty" bills on us? Which just happend to be the time were Talk-Radio moved millions of people to urge there Reps. to vote against Amnesty? Its all conected!

  • And, unfortunately, socialism is not a strong current in the Democratic Party. That might be a reason why Sen. Bernie Sanders felt it necessary to run as an independent socialist and win 2/3 of the vote in Vermont? Sanders isn't the "biggest socialist of them all." You're communicating with a harder socialist than he right now. Nationalize the airline and raw material industries, and crush the corporate media using the same regulatory mechanisms that they use to prosper!

  • You mean the Democratic Party? Using a cheap modification of language to demean is just ... cheap. I mean, how would you feel if I went around calling the Republican Party the Party of the Pedo-God, since you (I'm guessing you're Republican?) hides wannabe pedophiles in the Congress and plays on people's superstitions of only-known-in-literature Beings.

  • Yes, its called the Democrat party, and its full of socialists. And yer buddy Bernie could tell you a thing or two about socialism I bet, since he's the biggest one of them all.

  • Is there a functioning socialist party in America? If there is, can someone post info about it here?

  • Brett, thanks for the Fox News-style economics lesson, but things aren't that simple. There is politics in economics; there is a politics of economics. Whom decides what the tuition rate is for the cardiologist-in-training? Whom decides how many potential cardilogists are admitted to universities? Whom decides if McDonald's workers can unionize? Whom decides the salaries of CEOs?

  • In fact, when people talk about media misrepresenting life, many times they are meaning MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, and the like. In fact, when I talk about this issue, I say "MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, and the like."

  • I didn't hear you mention anything about the validity of the nature of income distribution in this country JSMan. The BBC and CBC have, from my experience, been are more apt to actually admit what public opinion is than American media. Turner isn't in broadcasting anymore, and I see CNN almost as Fox News.

  • I thought income distribution in the united states was determined by the free market. Pay a guy at McDonalds $30 an hour and the burgers will be $25. People stop buying the burgers McDonalds goes out of business now we have huge unemployed low skill labor pool. Pay a Standford graduated Cardiologist $7.25 an hour and no one will take on the $100000 college bill to become a heart doctor. Now we are out of doctors. Free market, not what feels good determines how income is distributed.

  • which is why the free market cannot supply (most of) us with a decent standard of living. your own argument shows the need for a social safety net.

  • SO far Bernie's critics haven't actually said anything reasonable.

"When I write a political column for the Chicago Sun-Times, when

liberals disagree with me, they send in long, logical e-mails

explaining all my errors. I hardly ever get well-reasoned articles

from the right. People just tell me to shut up. That's the message:

'Shut up. Don't write anymore about this. Who do you think you are?'"

    ~ Roger Ebert

  • Wow! Is it possible to get any more out of touch than this guy? Unfair distribution of wealth? If you don't like it Bernie, GIVE IT BACK! Media Reform? British Broadcasting CORPORATION, Canadian Broadcasting COPRORATION? Wake up! I didn't hear him complaining about Ted Turner, or CNN and their political bias. What a load of class warfare BS. Come up with some real solutions, Bernie.

  • The BBC and CBC are public corporations which are govt owned but autonomous.

Much different than the corporate ownership of media in the US.

  • Oh, sure. Much different.

  • They are much different.

  • Yes they are much different. One is in the UK and one is in Canada. And neither are subject to market forces of price and quality, as they are gvt funded and get their money no matter how poorly they perform. CBC especially, as its viewership has declined over the years, as its private rivals have increased, because they do not supply the programing that Canadians want to see. Typical of gvt bureaucracy and waste.

  • Bernie?! Bernie?! Where have you been?! (Apparently blacked out by the media.) This video has shifted my politics considerably. I don't even know what else to say. I'm still in a little state of shock.

  • Camdenyardbird, can you be any more brain dead cliche? Is it possible? If I had a nickle for every time a right winger replaced logic with name calling...I'd be paying off right wing politicians to fatten my pockets even more and you'd be going "Yaaay".

  • Attention liberals, Democrats, leftists, socialists, communists, Marxists, atheists, collectivists, statists, and all other garden-variety, bleeding-heart, limp-wristed, surrender-monkey, Islamic-fascist-appeasing, traitorous cowards:

The so-called "fairness doctrine" is censorship. "Change the media?"

    Typical for Marxists.

  • This is your brain on Rush Limpbaugh

  • Fairness Doctrine is not censorship. You are either totally ignorant or totally lying. Do some research moron. (and no, listening to Limbaugh does not count as research)

  • Media Reform!!!

    FYI:

The FCC fairness doctrine required broadcast licensees (1) "to provide coverage of vitally important controversial issues of interest in the community served by the licensees" and (2) "to provide a reasonable opportunity for the presentation of contrasting viewpoints on such issues."

  • kayb36.. You go get them Bernie!
