  • well, at least now we know that he's human...

  • WOW. you nearly got the full extension.

you landing on your but was funny

  • ROFL good stuff....i think it was just funny because you flew like 10 ft back lololol.

  • failure or not thats 350 pds!

  • Honest to god man, ive gotten inspired by you. Like you I wanna play college football as an offense and possible defensive lineman and do exactly like you. You workouts have got me bench pressin 355 as a sophmore and over 500 for squat. And I completely have ease of beating other lineman. Thanks for this kick ass workout. I honestly wanna meet you one day.

  • that was scary

  • hahahhahahahahahahahahahaha shiiiiiit im laughin so hard at this shit !

    Elliott Hules comp

  • What are you to gain by just simply managing to get the weight up? I believe the most muscle synthesis happens when the muscles are targeted by using good form. And couldn't you have gotten the feeling that the weight might be a little much?

  • @ajayalmighty do you lift half as much weight as him?

  • @frodosauce Half as much? Well considering I weigh 250, yeah I can lift half as much as him.

I was simply wondering why he would take such a big risk, I know all about setting PRs but not at the cost of lifting anything in the future

  • @ajayalmighty I guess you'd have to ask him. I'd think maxing out is pretty effective strength training though, I don't see why it would be a bad training idea except for the danger involved.

  • damn i probably wouldve broken my kneecaps if that log fell on my knees lol

  • that was close boy

  • How tall are you? You seem like youd be over 6'2"

  • damn that would have hurt if it landed on your legs.

  • Dang.....Happened to me during a standing military press. Tragic...

  • Real clean :^/

  • pretty impressive, nonetheless.

  • lol o my i like watching u though styl very sexy

  • hahahaahh FAIL

  • way to keep pushing!! you should have my username, you're definitely a mofukkin hardcharger!!

  • really nice to see you got away man, be careful. BTW, can i assume you're left handed?

  • OMG!! glad your feet didn't get crushed.. that was fucking close!!!

  • holy shit

  • Had a similar thing happen to me with a standard barbell press awhile back. Only difference was that I was pressing 185 pounds (my bodyweight at the time), not 355 pounds!

People always say that squats will test you the most mentally, give you the most fear. But the way the weight feels on a OHP PR and the knowledge that it could come toppling down, turning your core into an accordian... yeah, takes some real motivation to get back under it especially after your first topple.

  • Not gonna lie you did pretty sick to get out of hurting yourself, your sick mate :)

  • His Gym looks like an IED exploded, but I would love to workout with him.

  • really explosive on the press mate. very close

  • that was insane!!

  • You almost got your legs broken

  • OMG dude, i was so happy to see u "catapult" backwards and survive this. More carefully next time

  • oh my god that was insane for sure if that was me i would of just died

  • How much did you weigh on this attempt?

  • lucky motherfucker!! i bet everything was in slow motion for you in that split second

  • chebby elliot can move! nice dodge! your lean as hell now and look class. Serious inspiration!

  • That right there is a good example of NOT takin your kids when you work out!

  • Elliot what the fuck are you doing man !!!!

  • ITS A LOCK OUT!!!!!!!

  • whoa, good thing he threw it off before he fell back, that would have been goodbye cruel world! is this u btw?

  • Take care next time brother.

  • You got it champ. Keep pushing bro,

  • dont worry all these things happens

  • how much is that in KG?

  • glad u got ur legs out of the way of that. that could have ended horribly. glad ur okay dude.

  • song name?

  • The gym is the perfect place were it is acceptable to fail like this..... great effort.

  • You didnt fall, you just racked it real fast

  • Shit! Count dat, you had dat up

  • Now that was funny because it didn't end in disaster.

  • I'm impressed that you posted this.A lot of so called gurus would not. This shows your a real person although a lot stronger than most

  • Still put that shit up for one. Respect man, glad yer alright

  • that could have been nasty

  • this is training at it's best

  • holly fak! i jumped back with my chair the moment you did!

That was some scary stuff man

  • NICE SAVE!

  • thats how you do it man! never back down untell you drop! im inspierd by this feat of effort. makes me think about trying harder when i hit the weights.

  • scary shittt

  • Holy shit bro.... That looks like it coudl have ended terrible... be careful man.

  • man, your a freaking beast! good stuff there! worst part is balancing when you get about the chest area. Glad you go t out that one safe.

  • what i like is that you got the balls to put up videos of you struggling. Trainers these days either (a) don't train properly themselves and are out of shape, or (b) only show themselves in perfect form performing 'incredible' feats of strength or whatever. By showing us your struggle it inspires, man. it shows that even at your level you're putting in the work and pushing the limits. i like it. when i start my gym it'll be like that. why be afraid to show that you're still learning everyday.

  • dang dude, that was f'n lucky...it look like the weights almost took your legs out but good save, that would suck bad if u got injured...this will be a youtube classic lol keep up the nice vids...best ever!!!

  • Whoa!!! Good Push away save!! Thats how we get stronger right, pushing the limits, Keep it up Elliot love you posts and website

  • had something like that happen to me with my first attempt at my new 160lb water filled keg. Pressed it out then it came back down and hit me on the head....

  • Nice bail Elliot. Also keep rocking the Bubba Army gear!

  • Scary Shit

  • nice get-away ! thats something u have to know too. good that u are fine, keep it up (=

  • Thanks for sharing this Elliott. This is one of my weak events and seeing THE man have to bail once in a while makes my lifts (or lack thereof sometimes) seem more real. BTW, the beard makes you look like old time wrestlng legend Tony Atlas!

  • nice clean bro, and very good technique with the bail out, you didnt panic just pushed yourself away from it

  • I truly appreciate this video! All over you only see a person's success but not his or her failures. Learning from your mistakes and have the guts to move forward and succeed shows the true character of a person. I have no doubt that we will watch you succeed once again. Looking forward to you showing us that you pressed that son-of-a-gun!!

  • Elliot, keep hittin it hard...No one is perfect...at least you have the balls to push it to your limits which is awesome...keep up the good work and soon that weight ain't gonna be anything!

  • Oh shit, that was close :O!

  • whoaaaa...holy shit dude. Dont swet it man, Killem next time !!

  • You should probley have someone help you.. just incase you dont want to lose your legs

  • Hey man that can happen to any of us. That isn't exactly a cake walk to lift. You got it up and managed to avoid killing yourself. So mark this one a small victory lol.

  • wow! im so glad u got out from under that.

  • fail!

  • At least you belt looked cool. hahaha.

  • Dude. the fact that you were able to just clean and jerk that much weight is impressive. I dont see a failure here. I actually think you can get this wieght though. Alot of people just dont realize how mental weight liftin can be. Just get your mind right and run up too it 1 mo gin! you got it bra. Train till you cant train no mo... and then train some MO! BEAST!!!!!

  • gooood shit bro 5/5 subbed

  • Glad you are safe. Good try. You'll get it next time.

  • nice bail!

  • Elliot, do you practice cleans? That should help you power it up. Still, failures are only stepping stones to future success. Most people won't even try what you attempted.

  • I think you deserve 5 stars for the toss!! Failr or suceed, still impressive and gave your all!

  • Fuckin close one bro. But hey, gotta try right?

  • hmmm lol looks F**KING HEAVY

  • oh my god...... xD

I know you will do it :-)

  • Damn dude....that's too close

  • lol that was close... that was some ninja dodging skills tho

  • Damn, my heart skipped a beat lol Be carefull homie

  • Elliot,

How do you get the mental strength to try again after a miss? What kind of mental psyching techniques do you put yourself through?

  • None. I just turn my brain off! Mental chatter distracts me... so I think about nothing. Just doing it.

  • my gosh....this should be in fail blog....what happen to safety first? :( lucky you did not broke your legs

  • @strengthcamp You a wrestling fan?

  • @strengthcamp get confortable with being unconfortable

  • @strengthcamp just do it

  • we all mess up at times but put that behind u....it never happened

  • Glad you didn't get hurt

  • Pardon my french but FUCKING HELL!

  • Glad to see you got out of the way!

    On a side note,

did you try it a second time after that?... you almost had it, seriously!

  • That WAS my second try!! I'll get it next week for sure :)

  • Damn right you wil!!! good luck buddy

  • hahaha! can't wait for the video where you get it.

  • dude!! don't kill yourself. who would teach me how to be a strongman.

    BE CAREFUL Elliott

  • good dump bro, Keep up the hard work! Take care and Train hard

  • I have a question: although I am young (19), I do not want to risk getting arthritis in my joints when I am older, and the reason people get arthritis is over-use and over-stress of their joints throughout life, but that seems to be the only way to gain muscle - to reoeatedly move the joints under great load to resistance train muscles. How do you gain muscle without damaging your joints in the long-term?

  • honestly man, its a trade off. You will have to sacrifice one thing for another. Do not be afraid to train hard, but smart. Arthritis, injuries, and everything else is just apart of the game.

  • idk man i think as long as you stretch out like your shoulders and everyitnhg and make sure you loosen up before you lift heavy your joints will be ok im not sure though im 18 lightweight but i like to lift for lower reps with heavy weight i make sure im loose though before i lift i think that if you dont and then you lift heavy that is how people get joint issues idk though

  • Damn Bro....good thing you have explosiveness...glad you did get hurt

  • holy fuck. almost lost your lower legs there. nicely handled.

  • showed good power! to move your arrs out the way that fast!:D

  • wow looks dangerous

  • Damn, jumped back ten feet. xD

And WorldMan, if you never go for your max, how will you know what your max is? :P

  • well, you wouldn't know your max exactly, but you could conceivably estimate it.

  • nice save.

  • hey, you're obviously a strong guy...but I wonder why you have to go for maximal lifts in practice? You don't think that sub-maximal lifts (e.g., 2-3 reps) is as beneficial?

  • Im preparing for a show that has a Max Log event... starts at 300

  • Well at least you picked it up

  • Nice quick thinking there.
