i went to canada about a week ago. my family and i skied the entire week and on the last night, my mom broke her foot on the stairs. we called the nearby clinic and the next morning (the day we were leaving), the doctor from the clinic called. we went in, got crutches, an ace bandage, x-rays, and an 1 1/2 hours of the doctor's time for only 200$ In the U.S. it would probably be the equivalent of a 3500$ doctor visit. keep in mind, the doctor was nice, and the clinic was specially opened for us.
The clinic you went to probably was private and you are not a canadian.
And isn't it nice that you had the ability to pay. The issue isn't health care, it's health insurance. There is no shortage of health insurance in the US. And as far as obtaining it, well, people in this country would rather have a widescreen TV than pay for health insurance, especially when the government will provide it for them. It's called a Nanny State-- look it up!

Both my parents are cancer survivors due to stanford. it wouldn't have been possible without the stocks. i would have died when i was 4 too. stanford prevails once again. if we hadn't gotten lucky in the stocks, we would be stuck with medi-care, which is pretty limited and sucks. the U.H.C. would just beef up the medi-care system giving the lower class a chance.
