  • HTC all day

  • baterry last 3 DAYS! wtf! is that a startack? damn!! ♥

  • Here is the QUESTION: Mobile or Tablet? :D

  • @sekundary1

    compact pc..

  • HOW OLD IS THAT THING?

  • @TutorialsByKevin um are u like on drugs

  • @gamezonic Yeaah im on drugs:D

  • This loook so awesome =)

  • this rocks with android :D

  • É muito grande!! ( escuto sempre isto...)

  • What do you want more..

This came out 2008-2009 and has WinMo + Windows Vista on it.

    Great for businessmen ..

The iPad is just for entertainment, you cant really compare them.

  • Haters apple copied HTC tablet pad you dumbasses.

  • well i can use mine as a phone windows 6.1 and pc two in one

  • @sweetzara1990 hey bro where I download the windows 6.1 for this htc shift??? please!

  • I need a program for use GPS???

  • Dear God, I thought that was a phone

  • @uNamed2lyfe, ipad is waaay newer.

The HTC Shift came out a while ago!

  • ipad is waaay better....

  • 2 small icons

  • its still a phone its just a buisness phone for someone who travels alot.

  • @shawnn671

Hahaha I thought that too and then I was like WOOOW THAT'S HUUUGE

imagine putting that in your pocket

  • @xxxinnocence 207 x 129 x 25 mm and yes it is huge wouldnt like to walk around with that in my pocket (doubt it would even fit in a big jeans pocket) . I have a similar device called the viliv n5 which i currently have win7 pro on and that is172 x 86 x 25mm and even thats uncomfortable to walk around with in your pocket.

  • sooooo can you make phone calls through this? or is it just a bussines and entertaining devide?

  • how much do these cost

  • Wow, HTC actually had a touch pad long before Apple. Impressive.

  • wat the hell

  • HTC SHIT...

  • this wil shure not fit in your'e pocket xD

  • they should make 1 with windows 7

  • Okay, so this is maybe better then the iPad or so, but who cares? You can play over 1000 games on the iPad

  • @kamielftw Every program you can run on windows, you can run on this thing. So, iPad can't even compete. Then again, it's two different categories of devices, so this is pointless!

  • @kamielftw

1000 shit games don't equal what you can get on gog.com

  • I have one and realy reccomend liberating SnapVUE so you get full windows mobile and even custom rom's with phone. Installing Windows 7 is a bit of a struggle with drivers (especialy shagctrl for turning on and off bluetooth wifi and getting the modem to work) but after some fiddeling got it to work. Realy can recommend it. If you get it at the right place it isn't that expensive. Got mine for just $380.

  • I want one!!! lol........Where is this today? Sorry CrApple iFad this thing trumped your POS long ago! ^_^

  • @Plamie4 Really??? like an iPad??? this thing was made 2 years before the crapPad

  • It's supposed be like an ipad fellas. Calm down.

  • @Plamie4

Clam down ur a ghey... Look at the upload date Feb 12 2008 was the Ipad out?

someone feels like a dumbass mac user

  • @OkThatsGhey

Lol. Im a gay? and I meant it's the same device as an ipad. due to some people that are watching think it's a phone. And yes, it is better than ipad.

  • way better than ipad. i hope they develop one in next coming years with 1.5Ghz snap dragon, window mobile 7 + window vista + voice call + better camera than it would be perfect :d

  • @vietdoan20062013

Windows Vista? you joking? Vista sucks more than window 95!

  • @Mutterjunge Vista is renouned for slowing most laptop down. Just imagine how efficient it would be runnning XP or Windows 7.

  • the keys are way too small. cannot type on that sorry.

  • @mariusddc you can its not hard even if u do have big fingers

  • OMG,I was using Q1 ultra, but have broke it in moto accident. This would be my next comp.

  • BEURK! slowly! ugly! what's worse? a PC?

  • @bathdan ugly just like you

  • I want one NOW! Lol.

  • i'd buy it if they made it a little smaller so it fit in ur pocket

  • @conu1976 - they do make one - the HTC Touch Pro 2

  • omfg, thats a small comp

  • I want one just to install linux upon and make a porable perl programming device!

  • for the people who're comparing this to the ipad - you can't really compare intel x86 to ARM CPU's very easily, and that's the main difference.

On this thing you can run anything that windows can (granted a lot of things'll be slow) but the ipad has to use mobile apps specific to the CPU and OS.

put simply - about a decade's worth of software for windows that most people are familiar with, or ported ithouch/iphone apps or new apps for the ipad... the price for the shift is shit though...

  • damn i would buy that but ouch...the price D:

  • Actually its not a phone Per Se. Its a tablet PC with an OPTIONAL phone option. (Usually just for mobile 3G on the go). I'd buy this but I wouldn't use it as no damn phone.

  • know the ipad is alot better

  • @for1234hed The iPad isn't a computer, it's an oversized iPod Touch.

  • Have you used any iPad or HTC Shift, that you can so obviously judge?

iPad has closed OS and thus limited software. And on HTC running Vista or Windows 7, you can run any application that runs on Vista.

How many OS X applications are there for iPad?

  • This is way better than iPad!

  • this is 2 years old, htc needs a refresh on this type of pc, I'm interested in it.

  • @horvaton Indeed, it is but people are Apple freak, they'll go for iPad always.

  • @horvaton

    not...

  • I love tech -- I really do. But I have to admit. This seems like a waste time and money. What's the advantage -- really?.

Short of bragging rights (which is doubtful) I can't see myself using this.

A netbook and a cellphone would do the same thing for less money.

    Plus, its way too cumbersome.

If there's any case of the whole being LESS than the sum of its parts -- it would have to be that.

Sorry to bash that thing but come on.

I'm certain at the very least a netbook is more viable.

  • U could replace your tv in the car or put these in the headrest of the backseat. Perfect for a large windows gps app. It has potential

  • i would be too emberassed in public to use this phone, i would rather have the 80's phone with the shoulder bag and cord! This is rediculous! Does anyone have this phone and likes it?

  • hey look! its touch friendly ROFL!!

    that thing is huge

  • Looks like a gigantic phone. Whats the advantage over laptop? You can make calls from it? Get yourself a nice compact cell AND a laptop. Tons more convenient. The other advantage? 3 days of battery life? Where in the world will you go 3 days without an outlet to plug in a laptop? I suppose if you go camping! I never camp without my HTC shift.

  • who the fuck would take you seriously if you held that thing against your head to make a call!!! you need bluetooth or weight training.

  • xD i really want that one xD a phone and computer in one.. cant be better right?

only the size.. i guess you need back pack all the time to care that big thang with ya lol.. but its pretty cool.. computer and phone in 1

  • Its almost same size as my dick. an inch or 3 too small... hahaa

  • that isnot a fone, THATS A FREEKING COMPUTER!!!

  • mobilezilla

  • it's nice i guess kinda big but if you always on the go and it has bluetooth for phone use then i can see how it would be a good buy for ya

  • thats a bullshit thing its like too big to be a phone too shitty to be a laptop... htc fail

  • well said lol

  • its not really a phone its more like uh .... hmm a ..... Fucking Computer

  • plz dont tell me dats a phone!!!!LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like it just wish it didn't cost so much, maybe it makes a nice tablet? and I would love to have all my fav. emulation games on there all that and a phone too is cool.

  • Lol, I thought this was supposed to be a phone? Imagine using it as a phone. x]

  • Pocket Friendly!

  • @Shawnn671

It has GSM man but this is 100% PPC not a phone! It has Windows Mobile and Windows Vista. Great thing! I had HTC Universal ;)

  • @Shawnn671 some of these devices actually can be used as a phone for normal voice calls they have 3g modems in them capable of making normal voice calls. You just speak to it like a speakerphone. you wouldnt put it next to ur face ;)

  • @Shawnn671 just you use with freehands

  • its to big...thats an office device

  • looooooooooooolz

  • i thought it was the size of a phoner but this is ginormous!

  • that is huge i thought it was a cell phone

  • LOL! i thought so too when i saw the youtube thumbnail.

  • does it come with its own suitcase like the first cellphones ever made hahahaha :P

  • that phone here in our country costs 10000 Pounds.

    Which is 2000$

    worth a mac.. lol

  • How do you make a call with this thing?? I just imagined how stupid one would look if you walk through a city while holding it to your ear :)

  • hahaah me too

  • thats not a phone. thats a laptop.

  • it's huge

  • is that a phone with computer or a computer with a phone ? o.Ô

  • i like vista better then windows mobile lol

  • do u hold it 2 ur ear 2 talk

  • to much of a phone... who would carry that block around

  • So.. I can switch betbeen vista and windows mobile, right? Can I use a USB mouse with this shift?

  • lmao try fitting this in your pocket! hahah i have the htc touch pro and that thing is like a BRICK!

    geeze!

  • haha, it looks so funny. like a normal phone and then transformed for giant people.

Too small for the laptop, too big for the phone. I do not like it.

I will rather go for MacBook Air + iPhone. And at least I will get better OS with this combo.

  • not so much a replacement for all that a laptop does but nice for when you want to play on the internet with your phone. Damn, that's a phone!?

  • netbook

    i think :O

  • did this come out yet?

  • yes it is out :)

  • So this is much better than a laptop right?

  • no, it's a cell phone that can do too much. They do it just because they can.

  • yea this way to expensive for a laptop

  • how could you use that as a phone :S?

  • this thing is supposed to be used as a small laptop, it's not a phone

  • you can just buy a macbook.

  • yeah I guess so, but I think the idea is to make a cell phone that if has internet features and all that jazz to make it better than any other brand on the market. granted I think it is does to much, but if I want to use internet on my phone or conduct business with my phone, like so many do now, I would want a half descent screen to see what the hell I'm doing. I have hated every phone I have owned when it comes to using the internet.

  • THAT THING IS FREAKIN HUGE.

It could fit in the pants of a black guy

  • this phone looks asthough it could only fit in the trousers of xxxxxl size gentlemen LOL

  • this is one dumb move by htc...this is no laptop replacement and at the price..its far from a dealbreaker...wtf?? i can buy a macbook and an iphone for the price of this crap and even pay a few months' bill

  • wdf what u gonna do with this phone 7 inches screen, u cant even take it with u around

    it is like small tv

  • JEEZUS THAT THING IS HUGEE

  • not as a laptop replacement. Its not supposed to be a phone!

  • I kinda like the concept, but 3 hours of battery life and a hoggy Windows Vista in a mini-notebook/netbook is a shame... With the money the HTC Shift costs, you can buy a mobile phone with reasonable or good battery life and a netbook with 5 to 12 hours of battery life.

  • Not really, most notebooks ranging around the thousands range kill the batteries in 3 hours.

  • (REPLY)

Most subnotebooks and netbooks I've seen have more than 3h of battery life. You can find 12"-13" computers with 3.5 to 12 hours of battery life and 5", 7", 9" and 10" mini-notebooks or netbooks with 5 to 12 hours of battery life, all costing less than the Shift ...and you can still get a decent mobile/cell phone with the money you spare.

  • (REPLY 2)

Also, in my other comment I didn't mention 'notebooks ranging around the thousands range' but (cheaper and simpler) netbooks - although you can still get full-spec subnotebooks (up to 13 inches) costing less than the HTC Shift and running for more than 3 hours.

  • Some examples of netbooks and subnotebooks that will run for more than 3 hours and cost less than the HTC Shift:

MSI Wind U115/120 and Asus N20 with upgraded batteries: 10h-12h.

Asus Eee PC 901 and 1000HE with standard 6-cell batteries: 7h-8h and 9.5h.

UMID M1, Asus Eee PC T91/T101, NC10, Asus N10 with standard batteries: 5h or more.

HP Pavillion DV(1-3) and Acer Aspire 2920 with standard 6-cell batteries: aprox. 3.5h-4.5h.

  • So what does the Shift offer that a smartphone or mobile/cell phone combined with a netbook or subnotebook won't offer?

O.S.? Vista will rundown your batteries faster and slowdown your device.

Autonomy? 3h is a poor performance for a netbook-sized device.

Form factor? The Shift doesn't fit in common coat or jacket pockets.

So why carrying around a netbook-sized device that has less battery life than a cheaper netbook and that isn't as portable as a smartphone or mobile/cell phone?

  • WTF IS THIS!?

  • lmao dat bitch huge imagine dat bein a phone!!

  • its a new age we now have phonetops!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Omg.... it's a miniture laptop. SEXY

  • thts BIG AZZ HELL

  • Compare it to a laptop... still that big?

  • No camera ?, No phone capabilities?

...this review sucks, lots of talk and did say nothing about the product.

  • it IS a laptop... you cant call like a normal phone...

  • Check out MoDaCo website. you can use this as a phone

  • That's pretty sweet.

I don't get the bitching about Vista though. I've been using it for about 8 months and I haven't had any problems whatsoever.

I think people just believe what the crowd is saying.

  • Its huge and has far too large secs just to get the OS to run. A 7Gb install imho is outragous to just display a desktop. My system does all I need and is 2.5Gb. Lets not forget Vista doesnt even have Office productivity which adds more space used. Its diabolical. I want my system to give me space for my files, not hog it all just to get an OS. No I'm not following the crowd. I've used it and its a hunk of expensive junk.

  • nice

  • thats a cool touch laptop

  • HUUUUUUUGGGGGGGEEEEEEE!!!

  • this is amazing. its so small, but it can run nasty vista...try doing that with your ACER EEEEEEEE

  • My Acer Apire ONE runs fully functional XP

  • but...VISTA!!!! vista is a stinky nasty glitchy resource hogging OS.

  • Vista= win....

  • Vista=fail...

  • vista=win iv been running it on my acer for a year and a half now with no problems.

  • Vista=Fail because its a microsoft side project that is buggy and annoying when running it.

  • Can we Increase Its Memory for put some 8 or 16 GB in it ? & Yeah why doesn't we can have in it Long Essay and Reports ? Why is that so ? Its such an Expensive Product and It doesn't have this Facility in it ? Is it a Cell Phone as well or Its just a sort of Mini Type of Laptop Oh, God , Someone Help me please to Understand Thanks (^__^)

  • vista sucks

  • lmao holy cow.

  • Dayum!!! How tha fuck is that a phone???With 2 OS'es??? Windows Mobile ANDDDD Windows Vista??? Oh so now you're telling me that my phone now has the ability to BSOD during a call now?

  • looks kind of dated even for 2008.

  • lmfao . what is that shit ?

  • put it up to your face

  • WHOA! that is one big phone

  • i'd rather buy Archos 7 - it's way cheaper and great looking. HTC makes good smartphones not internet tablets... that's a CRAP right there ;)))

  • is that even a phone? it´s huge! and ugly

  • Its not a phone, its like a laptop but only with wifi/wlan and smaller, also higher price.

  • soooo cool

  • mmm YUM! gimmeee haha

  • a little big dont u think?

  • big device for big people

  • lmao this seriously sucks i dont know y did they give it a phone capability imagine the guy holding it while talking lol i bet i dosnt fit in his pocket

  • Its not a phone. Internet tablet.

  • 1000 euro GVD €1000

  • its cool but that shiit wont fit in my pocket

  • Did he just call the 40GB an "optical drive not a solid state"?

Optical? Thse guys report on tech?

  • its like a mini laptop/ humongous phone

  • Dayuuum its like 1500

  • I just wanna know can we use 8 GB or 16 GB memory in it ?

  • Yea Its only for a CEO or something .

And I would recommend using a Bluetooth headset with it

  • lmao yea i think so

  • YOU GUYS HAVE TO REALIZE

    it's not a phone...

  • It is a phone too noobsauce

that's why if you read reviews, even HTC says using a bluetooth with it is better than holding it up to your ear, which can be done.

  • well i mean yeah it can call/text people

    but

it's not intended as a cell phone

damnit you know what i mean

  • what ?

But it is, they said :)

  • damm it's bigg

  • and nice!! how much is it?

  • $700

  • what the hell is that is it a phone or really mini laptop
