Suddenly, while Bowie sings about major Tom, I saw in the audience around me these little white signs which said in black : 'MAJOR TOM' as you can see here starting @1:54.. It freaked me out, by far U2's best theatrical effect of the show..
Great stage look, slightly Glass Spider-esque. Bono and David are great friends and I think it's really cool he'd play his stuff at his shows. I also love the Outside and Heathen albums, and I think it's sad people can't let go of the past and enjoy David's growth in musical style, but each to their own!
zigarela, the young crowd sing along all the time i am 14 and i LOVE LOVE LOVE David Bowie... and the 60's, 70's, 80's periods.... i HATE the modern rubbish... And i guess i am unique but i can just relate to older music :D

No, he didn't. U2 have chosen his song for the opening of their concerts and obviously they didn't perform it live. I think they chose this song because the Claw looks like "somewhere between a spaceship and a cactus flower". A space oddity, indeed.
