  • Stripping a guitar is one thing, but this vid doesn't demonstrate a strip-job. He painted over the existing paint. In that case, you use 400 to scuff up the paint a bit and then prime that. Sanding with 80 over existing paint is so not the way to do it.

  • @DexterKnows So, i was like 13 when i did this i think it turned out really good.

  • @ht448 then you really are the only one, this turned out crap

  • Im not sure whats worse the music or the end result.

  • @ht448 well you know what they? theres a sucker born every minute. i would give you 200 for the floyd and throw the rest in the garbage.

  • @ht448 what guitar was that?

  • dude thats the most awesome way to totally destroy a good guitar

your ment to use an orbital sander with 120grit then 240,320, not 80 and use automotive 2pak primer. then wet&dry sand it with a rubbber block and lubricate well with soapy water start with 240,600,1200 and then 2000 remember preparation is the key!!, stay away from cans exp the shit you used its enamal and will look and feel like shit, use a gravity fed gun with solid 2 pak

  • @0rgazmatron Hey, when you post your video ill belivie you but untill then Fuck up

  • @ht448 you're an idiot, this guy actually knows what he's talking about.

  • @0rgazmatron Actually I work with two guitar companies, We were stripping an Arch top big fancy one too, and we used 60 grit on ann orbital sander haha

  • What is this song and who does it?

  • im goin through the process of painting my guitar. Does this work good?

  • @DustinAndNatasha It Works... Ok i guess but if you've got an expensive guitar buy better paint lol :D or hire a car painter $180

  • @ht448 ahh ive just got a bc rich, its been through hell, its had to be fixed more than I can count, this time I am just gonna paint it and mainly keep it for looks. the guitar itself goes outta tune allot, and instead of buying a tune lock, or gold locks, I'd rather just buy a new guitar lol and im good at painting, fuck hiring someone else to do something i love to do lol

  • Iron maiden?

  • hey , i just painted my guitar a couple days ago but it still has a strong paint smell to it any ideas how to get ride of it?

  • @algu11 What paint did you use? and have you cleared it?

  • @ht448 homeharware brand indoor/outdoor spray paint,,, clear it as in clear coat? no i have not clear coated it

  • @algu11 After you cleat it and polish it ect the smell will go... :D Semd me photos

  • @ht448 i will give it a try ,, will do

  • @algu11 the paint smell will completely go away once the paint has completely cured fully . the paint is still fully drying from the bottom up thats why you can still smell fumes from it . after a couple days to just over a week it should go away

  • @KTCustomz Thanks for the info

  • @algu11 no prob . i was just crusing round vids and seen this one . i like watching stuff like this . i have some vids of my own . of some stuff im painting and working on . i custom airbrush stuff . ive done an acoustic guitar before

  • @KTCustomz yea same here ,, i'm more about the playing but got a cheap guitar and thought i'd try it out

  • Why not use a belt sander at the start it would save time?

  • @EliSexyton if you use a belt sander on a guitar body and you dont kno how to use it youll ruin it . and if the base of the guitar is good enough paint you can paint right over the old color

  • Rough sanding is not necessary unless there are heavy marrs or scratches in the body. Wet sanding in small circular motions with 320 for starters. Then 600. Overall, you will get a smoother end result and no sandpaper scratch marks .

  • Deliverance!!!!!!!!! I used to listen to these guys all the time!

  • well u did all that wrong u need a primer before u paint it other wise the paint wont stick and u will get driping marks on it

  • so all you did was take off all of the hardware sand off the finish take spray paint and spay it completely and put the hardware back on and you were done ??

  • @blackfire053 No, srry this video was surrposed to be a series but the project was ruined soon after this video was uploaded... but the next steps include rubing down clear coating wet rubbing bufffing and compleaction

  • LOL To make life easier . I paint cars and guitars for a living. The paint job would come out better if you wet sanded with 320 grit or even 400 grit. sand paper. Make sure it's the black wet/dry paper. if you ever chose to do this again. It makes life easier.

  • I was surprised to hear Deliverance during the video... Nice!

  • Who's the band playing?

  • so heres my delemma, well not yet, but i purchased a bass that is put togather with a bunch of different parts, and its pretty bad ass, imaging bc rich body, with a kramer neck, emg's etc, but there is nothing on the headstock...so i was going to cutout a mold thing for my band logo and spray it onto the headstock...any suggestions?

  • @zachpeabody Well what colers are you think of yousing?

  • @ht448 well white r red. the guitar is black and the headstock is black aswell

  • @zachpeabody Well say u wonted your logo black you could just stick it on and paint over it then peel it of but if you wont another couler for your logo you going to have to paint the headstock twice... hard to explain

  • @ht448 yes I watch the video several times. The reason y I asked that is because I have a first act me953 that's very hard to take apart

  • @newproductions1000 Make a video of it the whole guitar and ill tell you how to do it Kk :)

  • do you have to take apart the guitar or no? Please respond

  • @newproductions1000 Offcource didnt you watch the video?

  • when it dried was the paint sticky?

bc thats how mine was and idk how to stop it from being like that?

  • @xxsin7xx Dose it leave fingerprints if you put your finger on it?, if so you put to much on to quickly you have to do one two coats a DAY but for you you should leave it for a couple of weeks just but it in a dry spot and forget about it for a while hope i helped

  • wered u get the cheap spray paint

  • @yoshimynoshi lol Bunings, A,K,A hardwere store

  • Whats the music?

  • @ElasticSparrow audio swaped crap.....

  • does the paint stay on there without clear coat?

  • @collinallenparishute it will but it will scratch off over time, a very short time in fact, best to put around 7 even coats of paint on, leave it to completely dry for like 48 hours, then give it a few coats of clear coat. it will be completely protected then. and from using 7 coats of paint, it will give a nice spray job too

  • @gamerdude1989 Hey expert how do you get a clear waxed polished look o it after wards?

  • @limaking777 wo man i never said im an expert, i just studdied painting and spraying for 2 years at college and came out with a national diploma with it. so i know enough. you can use regular car polish if your trying to do it on the cheap and buff it, it will also smoothen the clear coat alot. alternatively if you hve the money, use a car body buffer, works a treat. :D

  • i created like a blob and smeread it, how do i get rid of it?

  • @GuitarFlighter9 You mean a run?, well my bet would be to wet sand it untill is unnoticible by TOUCH you would still be able to see it but not feal it ok... and then other coast or two :)

  • @GuitarFlighter9 DId that help???

  • @ht448 ya it di thatnks!

  • Can you put the pattern you want on top of the paint that's already on the guitar?

  • awesome! I'm gonna do a similar paint job on an old guitar of mine.

  • nice song

  • hey thx for the vid, i was just wondering, what kind of paint did you use and how long did you let it dry for??? thx

  • @rancidhotmail well it called export $1.00 a can its normaly what people griffity on walls with and i thought illd'd try and give it a shot and the dry time should be on the bottle but i left it 4-6 hrs between sprays just too be sure

  • @ht448 sweet thx! ill let you know how my paint job goes if i ever get to it :P

  • um, can you give me the exact steps on this, i don't know when to stop sanding it.? and how did you take the wires off ?>>>Plss...thank you..

  • @TheGuitarDevil27 Well you should relly sand back to the wood but what i did is fine just so its rougth for the paint to stick on... next step #2 the wireing is easiy a piss but you need to tell me what guitar do you plan on doing it to thank you

  • yeah my guitar is already painted but i wanted special designs i cant do so ill call a factory it costs around 300 dollars i think
