canadianfisherman1,, i loved the job lol most of our jobs where one offs so every day was different.. i was proud to say i was a "loose pattern moulder",, most people have no idea what that job title means lol and to be honest with you the only people i knew that hated this job where the lazy wankers.
im a loose pattern moulder and i used to do this for a living,, with no mechanical aids (one man job) thanks for this it brought back some good memmories lol
@justleedslads good memories of shittyness all fucking day? i also did the same job its nothing to be proud of. its a job that signifies that you did shitty in school. this video reminds me of nine hour work days of hell
@CanadianFisherman1 i work with moulders who've done well at school, i work with mettalurgists, sales reps project managers and methods engineers, and they were all moulders, if you have no ambition your fucked dont blame the job, people love this job, i do too.
One rarely sees loose casting anymore. As a kin i lived in Brunnerville PA and there was an iron foundry that started in 1850. It was a tourist attraction and they poured once a week. We boys loved to watch. Everything they made was loose cast. They used natural sand. No air compressor either... they used bellows!
Those molds get very heavy very quickly-I do a small amount of casting in my backyard, and the size of the casting I can pour is limited by my ability to handle a couple of flasks full of damp sand.

Why did they put parting dust on the cope and drag before the final assembly prior to the pour? I never saw that before.
