  • I see you have a lot of old tyco rolling stock. Have you changed out any of the plastic wheels and trucks? I have the same stuff and have always had derailing problems and someone once told me that it was because of the plastic wheels on the rolling stock.

  • @jimbronie Plastic wheels will work for a while if you don't run a lot. Just make sure all your cars have weight in them. If you notice how lite the Tyco stuff is vs the atlas etc. Add some lead weight to the cars. Most cars are easily done. You can use old wheel weights from a tire store. I melt them down to a mold but you don't have too. Silicone them down inside the cars.

  • Looks like it will be a cool layout. Are you going to do prototypical operations?

  • Hi Rob,

Just watched your video...You have a great start on a layout. I'm starting one as well up in S.F. It will be more "artsy" than industrial ..but it's all good. This is a great hobby...I'll look forward to seeing how your layout evolves...eventually I'll post mine as well...but I'm WAY behind you at this point! (lol)..

    Take care and have fun!
