I see you have a lot of old tyco rolling stock. Have you changed out any of the plastic wheels and trucks? I have the same stuff and have always had derailing problems and someone once told me that it was because of the plastic wheels on the rolling stock.
@jimbronie Plastic wheels will work for a while if you don't run a lot. Just make sure all your cars have weight in them. If you notice how lite the Tyco stuff is vs the atlas etc. Add some lead weight to the cars. Most cars are easily done. You can use old wheel weights from a tire store. I melt them down to a mold but you don't have too. Silicone them down inside the cars.
Two things where did you get all the track did you already wether the track that would look nice and don't forget ballast and tunnels they always complete the layout
Just watched your video...You have a great start on a layout. I'm starting one as well up in S.F. It will be more "artsy" than industrial ..but it's all good. This is a great hobby...I'll look forward to seeing how your layout evolves...eventually I'll post mine as well...but I'm WAY behind you at this point! (lol)..
Ok, tell me how you are so organized!!! I'm working on a 10'x14' and it looks like a bomb went off in my train room. At least the mess keeps the wife out! LOL Great layout!
I hope to see it finished I'll bet it'll be nice.If you'd like to see my trains please go to temporary layouts look for colony park 1986 and you'll see my US Army train and my Santa Fe train.

Looks like it will be a cool layout. Are you going to do prototypical operations?

Very nice. It'll look very cool when you add scenery. I think that double crossover you have is kick-ass!

@rjiii88 My opinion is that you have one of the BEST looking layouts on You Tube, and I'm just really impressed at how organized things look!!
