Don't let the nay sayers deter you kid. Go out again and again and learn what works for you. You're going to make mistakes, but that's why you go and do this stuff..so you know what NOT to do when the stakes are high and you need to survive. Anyone can go out and boil water and make Ramen noodles...the real thing is figuring out other things to bake/cook. Keep up the good work.
Try cooking on hot coals instead of a fire next time. Make a larger fire to build up coals. Start second fire in same pit next to first to generate more coals (and to keep fire going). Good video!
Only a whiteman you make a fire with so much smoke.
You've obviously learned your lesson about cooking with coals instead. If you don't have a pot with a lid you can put coals on, heat a flat rock when you build your fire. You can put it on top of the pan and cook bread evenly.
Keep workin at it my friend. If youre gonna spend the time on the video, i.e. spend money doing sumthing, get that fire down to coals, some under, prop the pan up and let the fire brown the top. Also, tell the folks whats in the flour mix...take ur time with this trick...no need to burn the bread...10-4?? DeerMeat
@MrDeerMeat thanks this was my first attempt at doing it, i've improved greatly since this vid. yea coals is deff best lol. and the flour mix was just flour and water.
if you was a true woodsman u wuddnt use tin foil any bushman worth his salt wuddnt use it because it takes years upon years to bio-degrade i have been fortunate enough to go on a bushcraft course with the great ray mears who is a exceptional bushman and has probably forgot more than most people know respect the wild and it will reward you ten fold good vid mate
next time you do it, cover it with tinfoil so it doesnt burn. Now that this new strain of mutated flu is breaking out we could all learn more about what to eat in the wild it cold save your life. i have pitty for the girls who care only about makeup and nail at this time!!
i do this alot too, i just bring flour water and throw some salt in the flour, i dont know if thats corect but it works for me, i mix the flour salt ect. in water and put it over the hobo cooker i mad from some old cans, a littl eideo for you, a unique thing i like to do is i live on the coast, me and my freinds get out kayack and go ta a small island stay there a night fith some cought fish and the bread goes good with it, you should try it some time and if oyu do mak a vid, thanks
you want the easiest recipe for campfire bread that you can make from dry flower and water on site then do a you tube search for - Damper its an Australian thing you cook in glowing coals its proper bread just like you would eat at home but bloody easy to do anywhere you have glowing embers to cook on
you might have noticed that the person who made this video seems to be a teenager and i am guessing you are some 40 year old backwoods hick who learned to make this bread to feed your family rather than as an outdoor hobby. i found it informative. great video
I would suggest cooking on a coal bed, and not on the fire. This is why is cooked uneven and was burnt to one side. I would also suggest cooking the bread with a covered pot perhaps, it will rise much quicker and evenly. bread is always good to have at a campfire :)
I find it hilarious that you are cooking bread dough from the grocery store. Lots of those around when you are in the woods.

The key to bread is not putting it in the flames, but rather using red hot coals. Use more wood next time and build up a nice bed of hot coals.

great job my friend, you're learning
Did you notice your bread resembles a person's face?? look at it and see.

Interesting video Bro...
I would try cooking it on coals instead of an open fire.. it might cook through a little more without the burning.
I also wouldn't use Pine to cook on personally.. it adds too much tar into the food for my taste..
Interesting concept to flour your pan.. could save on oil..

you want the easiest recipe for campfire bread that you can make from dry flower and water on site then do a you tube search for - Damper its an Australian thing you cook in glowing coals its proper bread just like you would eat at home but bloody easy to do anywhere you have glowing embers to cook on
rollerpodger 2 years ago
yea ive looked up damper, real aussie damper has beer in it, i know it cooks off in the cooking but thatd be fun to taste, i heard it tastes amazing
wildernesswikiup14 2 years ago
the beer is an optional thing you can substitute all water if you wish - no mater what you use its good eats though
rollerpodger 2 years ago
In a pan, coil it like a rope, and don';t let it rise much. and be sure to flip it over.
Use coals, not flames.
or just wrap it on the end of a stick or ramrod and prop it near the fire.
Heck, a little self rising flour and water, some heat, and you are gold.

yea this was a fail video lol. first time for it, but we learn from our mistakes
