  • Running super marathons is self abuse lol.

But I would've thought marathon runners would be naturally thin. Your HUGE - muscle wise.

  • Running Marathons is self abuse YOU should NOT get Free treatment.

  • For the Tories NHS=No Health service.. Unless you have a ton of cash.

  • Good point about drunks. I say, let them out on the street and collect corpses. By treating them for free, NHS is only subsidizing and encouraging it. I live in UK, I know the binge drinking culture.

  • [sarcasm] What? Throw money into the NHS? Are you mad sir? [/sarcasm]

I think it basically boils down to one question about health. Is it a right or is it a business? If its a right, one has a to has a NHS. If its a business, well, then its private. Most people here in America are coming around to the idea that it is a right, they just don't want to pay for it.

I can tell you one thing. Here in Texas where I live, there is the problem of illegal immigrants, which puts strain on the hospitals

  • Thanks for your thoughts on the issue :)

  • @admiralt It's not a right as that would mean that one can enslave others to provide it to him.

  • the third group you should have called self harmers, Alcohol abuse, tobacco abuse and narcotic abuse.

  • that's fair

  • when you discussed waiting times, are they really "too long?" as opposed to an appropriate or "may seem long, but there is no need to rush" and why i say this is because as a US citizen we pay a huge mark up of health care because the idea is to make money in addition to treatment. So yeah maybe we get a certain treatment or test done faster... but was it really time sensitive to begin with or is it harmless to wait if it means you will get what you need in the end and keeping costs down.

  • time is known to save many issues from progressing especially when it comes to cancer. when people are forced to wait 6 months to get seen their cancer may have spread to a terminal stage.

  • @kwaichi

Like most developed countries, Britain ranks above the U.S. in most health measurements. Its citizens have a longer life expectancy and lower infant mortality, and the country has more acute-care hospital beds per capita and fewer deaths related to surgical or medical mishaps. [...]

  • @kwaichi

[...] Britain achieves these results while spending proportionally less on health care than the U.S. — about $2,500 per person in Britain, compared with $6,000 in the U.S. For these reasons, the World Health Organization (WHO) ranked Britain 18th in a global league table of health-care systems (the U.S. was ranked 37th).

  • @B190489

Your not calculating quality and immediate access.

  • @Thetruthishere11

NHS: lower infant mortality, lower MRSA infection rate, lower mortality, higher life expectancy with lower costs and more people who has access. That's quality!

Think, what will happen, when the UK spends the money, which the US does. It will be the best health care system in the world. The american is the most inefficient in the world, even cuba has more efficiency.

  • @Thetruthishere11

Also, the NHS is one of the worst health care system Europe, but it is better than yours. Compare your system with france, germany, denmark, sweden, it blows yours away. Here your insurance have to pay for dental care and cures, but the private insurance companies want more profit und cut services, so i think national healthcare it is better. God bless Europe!

  • @Thetruthishere11

Look at North Dakota, it has the onliest socialized bank in america and it was the only bank which has no problem during the crisis. It is the only state in america without big gov. debt. So socialism is better than you think, here in Europe we have a mix of socialism and capitalism and it works fantastic, not in Greece but in north europe, where is no corruption. Look at Denmark for example! Google it! It was the best country in the world, no gov. debt, high education level

  • @B190489

All of europe is a mess and you keep lying about that.

    Denmark creates jobs?

  • @Thetruthishere11

"All of europe is a mess" Where is a mess? Greece isn't Europe. The European gov. debt is lower than yours. Denmark is the most successful country in the world, no gov debt, low crime rate, healthy and high educated people, low poverty rate. Come over and i will show it you, you aren't the first american. And where is the lie? Unemployment rate in the US: 9.9%, Denmark: 4.3%

GDP by industrial sector, US: 21.9%, DK: 30.7%.DK is higher developed than the US.

  • @Thetruthishere11

Fact is: the danish gov is socialistic, the country has the best Gini coefficient value. The tax rate is very high, the streets are clean, the infrastructure very modern, no bridges collapses you know;))))) Denmark has also the highest welfare payments. Poverty? Where? Not in Denmark and in the rest of Europe, it is also very unknown.

  • @Thetruthishere11 Some facts: Costs USA: 16.0% of GDP Germany: 10.4% of GDP Life expectancy USA: 78.1 Germany: 79.8 Infant mortality rate USA: 6.7 Germany: 3.8 Physicians per 1000 people USA: 2.4 Germany: 3.5

  • @Thetruthishere11

The US has one the unhygenic hospitals in the world, USA300 is a MRSA killer virus, that spreads because of dirty hospitals and poor people who can't pay their bill. MRSA in Denmark??? We have no MRSA in Denmark, our hospitals are clean.

In the US, hospitals are cutting money for emergency rooms, because poor people has no insurance so they don't count them to check which ressources they need and people dies because the emergency room is overcrowded.

  • @Thetruthishere11

low crime rate, strong economy, no unemployed, very high industrial level and many high tech companies ;) and no environmental disasters like in front of your coast :))))) A socialized government authority in germany had filled the hole in one week. It's very sad, what's going on in america today.

  • Thank you Kwai Chi. A lot to think about abuses on social benefits. In Japan, none of these groups you mentioned do any abuse but NHS has been eaten up by the elderlies. Some even go to the hospital and appeal to the doctors about the phantom symptoms just because they are lonely. Here's a joke...

The same usual group of grannies waiting for prescriptions in a clinic.

"I haven't seen Suzuki san today. Where is she? "

    "Perhaps, she's sick today."

  • lolz that's a cracking joke!

  • wow...... i got bored at like 5mins, sorry, but nice idea

  • yeah long video!

  • thanks

  • YOU'RE (short for you are, as opposed to YOUR meaning something that belongs to you) clearly not an idiot! diagrames and humour would not go a miss though! I bet our friend fusnak2e is a well off right wing yank and I'm sure he's an idiot!

You've got some good points, but at 15mins i'm gone! sorry

  • In Hong Kong, pharmacists are still mostly working in the background. Doctors still reign supreme. They can still dispense without a fully -trained pharmacist or dispenser. The pharmaceutical profession have been pushing for decades for reform! Imagine that for a "world-class" city! As a Hong Konger, I am quite embarrassed!

  • My fiancee is from hong Kong

  • Cool! If she reads the news, she can probably tell you about the pharmaceutical plant scandals from about half a year ago. The standards of the premises were found to be below even WHO guidelines, never mind US's or UK's. Maybe they are even more stringent in Germany or Austria, or the Scandinavian countries?

  • I think to say all overweight people abuse the nhs is unfair I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and I'm overweight at the minute it through mistreating my body it from illness I agree with everything I just think that saying overweight ppl abuse the system needs to have a much broader view than it does mow your either fat or your thin in this country and the only thing I find unfair. Great vid though aswell :) x

  • I totally agree that the UK has an absolute diving line (using BMI) to judge whether or not you are fat. The underlying causes are totally ignored unless you get referred to a shrink which is near to impossible and appointments are usually totally inconvenient. Like I said in the video, the main cause for nhs only treating and not preventing is underfunding.

  • Unfortunately with POS you are more likely to be infertile, become obese, gain cancer and/or become diabetic. Early diagnosis is key for most problems and POS is no different. The nhs needs more funding so that people with POS are diagnosed with it asap to prevent the other nastier side effects from ever taking place instead of finding POS after diagnosing a secondary effect.

  • Indeed, while not ALL obesity cases are preventable, the majority of them are. My father has noticed how much "bigger" people have gotten here over the last 7 years. Sure, drug treatment can help in these cases, but there is only one thing for it--reduce energy intake, increase energy output.

  • i just watched the vid (mostly...) Yes the NHS has it's problems and is not perfect, but for regular working class people like me, for almost any imaginable health problem, I can at the very least go and see the doctor for a consultation, and it's already paid for by the government through tax - it is such a relief

i have no idea why Americans are so critical about the NHS, making the wild and false accusations about the UK health system when it is nowhere near as bad as they think

  • fair point mate :)

  • i was so annoyed after finally reading what all this commotion was about - and somewhat ironic about the Stephen Hawking thing as well

i even "twibboned" my twitter page too - it's not necessarily perfect but the NHS is miles ahead of the current US health system - given the choice of US style or UK style, I will take UK please

  • I'd also pick the nhs over the current USA system!

  • Yes, You have be looking at the TV like i have,

My dad work's in the NHS, I think what your saying is on the dot,

  • my fiancee and loads of my friends also work for the nhs which is why I have so much feedback about it :)

  • lol..yea lets..Thank you again..

  • great vid, kwai... first, I thought like 36 mins?!?!? geez ?!?! but it was interesting and I can confirm that our system is da bomb, especially when u have a private insurance here that covers everything! worldwide, just as I do... w00t w00t, pWned like a n00b... lol. pZ!

  • lolz! Thanks for your input buddy :) it's been a while since you last commented on one of my vids :)

  • your welcome ^_^..agree they do not..and for the funding thats put into the Nhs..as you mentioned is abused by some..it really just becomes a vicious circle..i think the obesity rates..and drinking levels..are the main causes for abuse to the Nhs system..it does not help either..that they lowered the prices..of alchol..come happy hour..and their genius idea's of late night pub opening hours..but that is another story..

  • yeah - they've really got to stop the £10 drink as much as you want deals at bars and the pre loading cheap drinks like vodka and cider from the supermarket

  • Yea..they do..really their causing the drinking problems..in the uk..to spiral out of control..by promoting such deals..and enforcing such lenient laws..its contradicting their own health system..by allowing such leniencies...i think its all to easily accessible now..and with the credit crunch..competitve prices between supermarket chains..are only adding to the problem..

  • i totally agree. let's see how scotland fares with their new drink price laws!

  • 2.

but then also..people are not..so receptive to change..The american health system..is really hard up..while it may prove beneficial in the u.s..are people ready for that change?..i agree with the comment one post below..

This was interesting..you're a brilliant speaker..Thank you for uploading this ^_^

  • Thank you very much. It's really nice to receive such wonderful compliments. The NHS really doesn't receive enough cash to do what they really set out to do.

  • 1.

The Nhs health care stystem we have now..i think is an effective one..but then thats through public pressure..to achieve high standards..& for the money we spend..on our service..while i dont think its a perfect one..it is still a good & effective..

  • You're a great speaker.

I was watching the news last night and Obama claimed that he wants a unique health care system that is not modeled after any other. I think there are a lot of misconceptions about his plan. Additionally, when people face change, they start to panic. Sometimes people would rather deal with an evil they know!

    continued ...

You bring up a lot of interesting points here. I think we are all frustrated by those who abuse the system.

  • What is clear is that our current health care system (in the U.S.) is not effective. It's far too costly!

P.S. Do you do public speaking as part of your career?

  • I work as a presenter and actor in between directing virals.

  • Awesome Video.

  • thank you very much :)

  • Great Vid Sir!! 5 stars :) OK!!!!! I am on a Government Run System here in the US, because I am disabled and the sate I live California, moved me to Medi-Care, thats from the Federal Gov. I however got to keep my plan, from when I was working, and they pay for just about all the stuff I need, I do have a big co-pay every month $98.50 US. I am sorta happy, wish it was cheaper. But It's one stop doctoring, I have a GP, and he handles all my stuff. Unless he feels I need another doc.

  • That's really good. I've just been trying to find out more about medicare but the main gov website is really geared up to those who are already on it. I am guessing a lot of people in the usa aren't able to get onto medicare which is why we see films like sicko being made.

  • its awful.. takes 6 months to apply, and they never tell you if you get it until like 5mo and 29 days.. its horrible. heath care in country is awful.. almost anything would be better, without it, a simple illness can bankrupt you. when a trip to the emergancy is 3500 us .. you know something is wrong

  • 6 month wait time is crazy. When the barrier to emergency healthcare is so expensive then people are more likely to self medicate incorrectly. The barriers need to be lifted and application easier and quicker.

  • you seem to have put a lot of thought into it, 5* mate :)

  • I rolled the cameras and just started talking. No planning went into it lolz :)

  • very interesting

  • what do you think having come from Germany and now living in the USA?

  • well me personally coming from germany like the health care in America to be honest there is just no way America can handle switching to NHS in the current state we are in as well

  • Nice video mate. How do you upload a 35mins video with high quality?

  • thanks. I just made sure it was under 2gb in size.

  • I read in the Sun (i think today's one), that the NHS are now thinking of billing the drunks, which i think they should

  • It's a great idea. I really hope they push through with it as anyone who has seen a hospital on a friday or saturday night will agree with me that it's a real mess atm.

  • lolz - i just realised that i posted that idea as my status on facebook on friday morning! perhaps the NHS are watching me :)

  • Wow, at first I didn't care bout this, but the more you talked, the more interested I became. Not only about the NHS, but British culture as well. You are a very level-headed and wise dude. And such a sweetheart. Hey, did you get hitched yet? Where are the wedding photos?

  • thank you very much. Date of wedding is 10th november 2009 in Hawaii. I've made loads of vids about my upcoming wedding and will be live over the next couple of months :)

  • Thanks KC! I haven't been online so much these days, but I am currently visiting your sites and trying to catch up. Oh a Hawaii wedding sounds gorgeous! Can't wait for the pics. Best of luck to you both!

  • thank you again :)

  • I don't know why, but I watched all of this video. I did not plan to, but the commentary was pleasant

  • lolz - like i didn't plan to make such a long vid :) I just spoke my mind!

  • Such a good video! Very informative!

  • thank you very much :)

  • cool story bro

  • thanks for watching :)

  • Your videos are good, however a bit long, I can't honestly be bothered to watch a video like this for 35 mins. I think 10 mins is pretty much the realistic maximum, unless it's a lecturing video or about science.

  • When I started talking i had no idea how long I had gone on for. It was supposed to be about 5 mins long lolz :)

  • Great vid

  • thank you very much :)
