does not attack other dogs, she does not snap at my little girl anymore. it's all up to the owner to decide to take full responsibility for their pet. had my dog not changed with the training i would have given her up to a rescue to save her life. Owners have options they just don't seem to realize it that they can fix these problems if they just tried hard enough
he is not being stern with his dog.he is being too nice to the dog.
he does not know how to be dominant. most owners don't and that is sad because most of the time it's the owner's fault for allowing the dog(s) to do what ever they want
Cesar's "techniques" might work, but only for as long as he is there. I'm sure the second he leaves the owners just go right back to spoiling their dogs. I don't need Cesar Millian to train my dogs. I'm sorry, but I still think the guy is a joke, just like I think Pit Boss is a joke. The midget is just using all the attention (bad or good) that pit bulls recieve!!
He love the owners! he wants to be with him! He was not showing, attempting or being aggressive! i got pits! the look at me like "why you leaving?" but i pet them, kiss between the eyes and say be back soon, be good! and i come home and their waiting with wagging tails and kisses!
@MissBBStar No miss you are mistaken. The dog was claiming him. Just because your pits do something doesn't mean all the rest will too. Every dog is different. My 2 year old was born submissive to other dogs. Although he's been trained well, he would never try to be dominant over us. But my 7 month old was born dominant and without proper training would do this same exact thing. Every dog has his own personality.
@brentscheif dude i have never watched a single episode of this show but everyone always asks us if we learned how to train our dogs thru this guy. his techniques might work, but its only for dumbasses who arent smart enough to figure it out themselves.
I am not an expert on dog behavior and training but the way I see Cesar Millan is that he has the intuition (as he has actually claimed) to deal with dogs. I understand many people debate on knowledge and techniques learned from school but one has to have that exceptional intuition to be as effective. There are many great animal behaviorist and trainers. But amidst the many (also true with any other field or expertise), there are always a few who simply excels. For me, Cesar Millan does.
Ha ha the first part of this is funny. The owner has to get over his fear and be assertive, which is exactly what Cesar did. Ha ha. I have a puppy pit and I have to be very assertive with him - he's cute, VERY smart and easily trained. But if I don't stand my ground, he would totally walk all over me.
i can see you being scared of a dog not yours but you should never be scared of your own pet. your dog see's you as it's protector and pack leader...the dog don't want you to be scared. but if you don't lead then somebody has to do it right ?
This pit isn't territorial. He doesn't want his owner to leave without him. Many dogs do this, and if you feed into the behavior, your dog will only grow worse. He's looking at his owner as if to say, "But I wanna come too". If anything he's got a little bit of separation anxiety. This is not in any way related to territory and claiming anything.
I like Ceasar, he's got some good training tips, but at the same time, he really does need to update his training from the old school mentality.
@Mewsaphine I agree my pit is 3 times the size of Leroy 82lbs and mixed with mastiff and is a real tough deal to leave the house, her mean trick is to run across the yard and kick me in the balls at full speed. It hurts bad and she is strong.
Ceaser is so into "the dog is claiming this" and "the dog is dominating you over this"...it may be true for some dogs, but some dogs, like Leroy isn't "claiming" anything... He's suffering from separation anxiety. He's attached to Marc, hence why he behaved for Caesar, not Marc...He claimed down when Marc was like "I'm not going anywhere". They don't show you the process of breaking the anxiety, just "releasing his energy". I'm studying to be a canine behaviorist
pit bulls ARE good dogs. just you MUST train them right from the start!
when they are puppy's you can put fear in their heart. you can make the dog out to what you want the dog to be in the future when they are grown. plus they will start out as puppy's! who is scared of a puppy ?
i don't think it's a good idea to get a fully grown pit-bull. get them while they are puppy's then train them.
the problem is the dog thinks his owner is a joke. so he won't listen to his owner.
he needs to man-up and tell that stupid dog to "MOVE!". if a dog feels he has power over you then the dog will later turn on you when you try to play the leader-role.
when they are puppy's you NEED to put them in check and let them know they follow you not the other way around. NO dog (not even the bully pit-bull) will turn on it's owner if it fears the owner.
Rescued a pittbull mix from the pound. She is a sweet and playful dog. She loves to put her head on my lap and sleep. I highly recommend adopting these much maligned dogs. You'll be paid back with devotion.
Idk...they cut the camera WAAAYYY to much for my comfort...they do something to those dogs besides say Tshh. Doggie treat, vailum..no one is that bad-@#@
yea ppl who say pits are just naturally mean.... no they are natural worriors and leaders....but they are still dogs ...i found a pit one time took not that much time...and she was the best dog i ever had till some ghetto fuck stole her actually they took her once...i saw some ahole walking her while drivin ..pulled over in front of them got out and told my dog to sit...of course she did n i told that dik hand her over or ima shoot you... i took the collar he bought her too.
thanks...yea its true...unfortunately someone got her a couple months after that... i was in a rough neighborhood.... but when i saw my dog i really wanted to run that fuker over....:)
the problem is the bicycle guy is a beta male. And dogs can smell wimpiness a mile away. I would suggest not therapy for the dog, but perhaps some hormone treatment for the man. Estrogen reduction perhaps.
I agree with you Dbizzle .... breed has absolutely nothing to do with it. It is very unfortunate that people treat pitts the way they do. They are treated very cruel by people and then people turn there backs on them and say how horrible they are. The people are the horrible ones.
breed does have something to do with it. we cant forget what a dog has been breed to do, whether its fight, chase, find, breeds have jobs and when they are not assigned other jobs such as 'pet','buddy', they'll revert to what is easy and comfortable for their body type. people should not treat pits badly their very good dogs who are usually not taken care of correctly. but you need a different appraoch for a pit than a pug and ignoring that is not healthy for the breed.
Especially if it's a pit bull... I don't know why you're so scared of them as a breed. They were actually trained and bred to not hurt humans (because when they fought, they still had to be retrievable from the ring). Then they were often used as nanny dogs. Unfortunately because of the "tough guy" image, idiots buy them and train them to be aggressive, don't neuter them etc. and that is the case for all dogs.
