  • What IR-LED's are you using? Or does it matter? I am working on a project to see if I can boost the range to about 100' if possible.

  • @darylaward,

I'm not really sure...they're fairly old, some batch I bought on the net many MANY years ago, so I'm assuming you'd get better ones on eBay these days, but they DO the job ;)

  • is tht a ps3? ahhhh????

  • @MaDn0scop3z

Yes it was, don't have that one anymore though, sure miss it...

  • I did it before I saw this video on my universal remote control and now I can furn on and off a television of my neighbors in building in front of me about 15 to 20 meters away from mine. It dont work all the time but sometimes I sucsess and shut down their television.

  • @Ubojica6661

hahahah, yeah, some fun can be had with this thing, that's for sure. :)

  • Get a patent.Every remote should have that capability! Good job!

  • @rick10is

I don't think I can patent that, the reason manufacturers don't do this is because of the expense. Luxury sets often comes with better remotes that have 2-4 IR leds in them...strategically placed, eg. 2 in the middle, and 1 in each corner of the remote, and a plastic IR-cover to spread the beam evenly...works like a charm...but it's simply too costly for most of them. A pity really...

  • OK...but what happens when you drop it? HAH!

  • @stfuyoungman

As with all flimsy prototypes, probably go bust...I suspect this one would live a little longer though as it isn't very advanced at all ;)

  • wow man i new something could be made i never got to hack mine cuz i gave up on tv but thanks man your awesome

  • @tk9314
