@gtarz40ful Yes most of this car is factory metal besides the1/4 panels and inner 1/4's for it, as you saw in the pictures I had to hand make the inner wheel wheels. The front fender I took 2 fenders and made one. The rest besides the little things you see in the pictures is all original factory steel. A very clean car compared to the 70 Charger I am working on where I had to replace 60-70% of the car.
@D4nnyB0y1997 i am 16 n a proud owner of a 1973 Dodge Charger SE with a 400. It is super blue with a black stripe on side (will be changed to factory colors).... :) its my first car, it doesnt run but i love it anyway and intend to restore it to its orginal condition n not change any features ... hope that makes u less pissed
Being a 70 #s matching 302 in the condition its in now could probably sell it for 40+ (if i was selling it) we picked it up today gonna dump some money into it get it repainted repaint the engine replace some parts get the air working totally break down the engine complete rebuild!!! It could bring in 6 figure in mint its yellow black decals and stripes! Im in heaven i will post pics b4 and after soon! Thanks for reading Dean.
No i didn't he wanted 5g for this car allthough it was a true r/t it just had way too much rust! lots of missing parts too! I found a boss 302 some old man has in his barn covered for 5g im not sure he knows what he has or maybe he needs the money but i checked it top to bottom 130k and only surface rust in some spots will need buffed and a repaint OH and the engine is locked up he hasnt driven it in 15 years! Way cool find for me! I get it this weekend!!!!
Wow that's Crazy!!! Congrats on the find. Did you try to turn it over? We bought a car that was sitting for 15 years as well in a shed and it started right up. What are those 302 mustangs woth these days anyway?
Hi dean, im getting ready to buy a 73 charger s/e 400 its definately a project car has more rust than yours here i was wondering what it would cost me (apprx) to get it full body restore like the one you did? And very nice work by the way!!!
I noticed that you cut away the rear quarter panels, resurface the metal, then weld the sheet metal back on. How do you protect the edges from rust where the weld occurred on the inner panels?
They make a silver spray pant just for welding in that circumstance. We spray that along the edges and let it do its job. The quarters are butt welded in place so there isn't that much area that will be burnt or exposed to bare metal. In the trunk area where it is visible we go back over it and finish out what we can, prime it, paint it, and undercoat it.
Sounds like alot of hard work, but from what I see, it is well worh it. I am also amazed at how you can take a car that looks like it is ready for the glue factory and restore it to like new condition. Very good work! Thanks for the reply.
was there any factory metal left when you were done?

I thought the SE had that weird side window thing going on for that year

@Aesus1 Most of them did but this car is pretty rare and has all electric windows instead. Everything was put back to the window sticker.

So did you end up buying it or was it too rusty to mess with? Just curious.
