Yeah, let's take the brain of the remorseless, nigh-unstoppable alien menace, put it into a Japanese Terminator, and send the resulting abomination to assist the bounty hunter who tried to kill it. There's no way this could go horribly wrong!
@quelltech In all fairness to Iria's moronic employers (please keep in mind that I agree with you totally here) Cyber-Zeiram originally did *exactly* as it was supposed to and helped Iria in her mission (a little *too* well-- Cyber-Z's methods were a bit too extreme for Iria); had blood not gotten splatted on what little was left of the original Zeiram inside Cyber-Zeiram (the white head in Cyber-Z's chest), Cyber-Z likely wouldn't have reverted back to its old 'kill-everything-that-moves' mode.
I hoped so...anyway, having not seen or heard all that much about this movie, isn't it true that the monster in this movie is the original Zeiram, or at least what was left of it after its battle with Iria in the first movie? If what I read was correct, whoever made Zeiram in the first place recovered the first Zeiram's remains and put it into a cybernetic body; which would explain the technological 'pieces' we saw here (missiles, guns, etc.). True, false, what?
As I recall, the Zeiram unit was reprogrammed to act as an assistant to Iria on her mission; thus, it was probably programmed and sent out by Iria's own employers. Of course, Iria's criminal "assistant" Fujikuro somehow messed with the Zeiram and knocked it back to its original hunter/killer mode, thus starting all the trouble in this movie. What a mess.
I always assumed that the gold plating covering the face inside Zeiram was what controlled it. When Iria punches it that's when it goes to it's original form of killing, could that be a possibility?
@tikocal Yes-- but it didn't fully set Zeiram back to his old ways; the punch just damaged the control unit enough for the old Zeiram's consciousness to awaken, but not fully. It was a dying alien trying to use its last bit of strength to kill Zeiram that did it-- it fell short, and, before croaking, vomited blood onto Cyber-Zeiram's chest (where, as we see here, the last bit of the original Zeiram was located). THAT was when old Zeiram woke up fully and took control of his new cybernetic body.

@Idjitz Thanks, but I can't seem to locate a place online which has them available for purchase.

Was there a Zeiram 3? I once read there was but I'm not 100% sure if there really was a Zeiram 3.

Did Mizuho Yoshida reprise his role of Zeiram from the first movie here?

I was a big fan of the original and own it on DVD. Was this one dubbed as well or is it available only in subtitles?

I have the original on VHS, the version released by Fox Lorber in the US. It is dubbed but not subtitled.
Idjitz 3 years ago
It's been available on DVD in the US for a while, but I've never seen it in a theater.
