the audio drop out is actually mentioned in the manual that comes with this camera. It is really mainly for point and shoot, but does the job nicely, but it can't cope all that well with bright light sources such as the sun - see my beginner's course video for an example, it's all shot on this camera!

Thanks for posting. I'm looking into purchasing the NV24HD and that looks like really impressive video performance for low light. Audio seems decent as well - I usually hear a lot more bass distortion for p&s camera video. shame about the audio drop-out during zoom.
