  • Dustin Kensrue is the lead singer of Thrice... this is from his accoustic solo album. lol

  • I definitely just spent an hour looking for this because I'm positive Thrice sings it. Goshhhhhhhh >:/

  • nice tune. very Ryan Adams-esque, but that's not necessarily a bad thing :)

  • Just realized the religious reference behind this. Curious if there is a literal "father" meaning behind this as well. Really universal song. Love it.

  • @CameronIsGodless Every song has any meaning you can find within its words. I'm not a religious person, but I still love Dustin's songwriting. Though inspired by his faith, it also reflects much of my own beliefs and values. That's the art of writing truly moving and inspiring lyrics :-)

  • Love this song, reall hits home for me.. Father's love their children too..

  • Dustin and Thrice as a whole are one of the few musicians alive with true talent.

  • When this parable is read I say wow. When it is sung, I cant speak for an hour after.

  • I love the contrast between the stuff he does with Thrice and on his own. Thrice uses a lot of minor keys and keeps a sorta darker feel to their music, and i love that about them, but listening to Dustin's more upbeat and joyful sound is amazing. These guys are some of the most talented, yet sadly underrated, musicians.

  • @Switchfeet360 Not underrated, There a band with a GREAT amount of fans I'm tired of every person thinking every band is underrated. If you say they got talent and over 200,000 different people say the same as you. That's not underrated If they get on the radio, get interviewed, tour across the country and then out and pack a reasonable headcount at concerts, not underrated.

  • 3:22 - 3:34 - beautiful.

  • come on dustin luv you but there is no god, the only god is U man.

  • Just a correction the passage is Luke 15:24 not Matthew 15:24

  • @Sandalio92 - whoops! Thanks!

  • i need to found myself again dustin thanks

  • thanks

  • so i love this song.. found about a year now.. i was just wondering what does the song really mean?

  • @iLoveBrucas13 Its talking about the parable when the son took his share of his fathers money, turned his back on his father, and left to go spend it all on worldly things, and when he hit rock bottom. And all the money was gone, his father took him back in, and loved him, just as God does when we turn our backs on him. He Offered his son's life go let us be saved and 'come back home' from our sin

  • well i think that even if you take the father for a... you know... father (as opposed to God), it's still amazing!

  • @DerSchlaueBaer Yep!

  • @DerSchlaueBaer Thats because the parable is an actual father that represents God. So yes, when you take it for just a father (as opposed to God) you are taking it the right way :)

  • the prodigal son... great tune.
