excuse my extreme ignorance in asking this question but do the residents in Dubai enjoy as much freedom as do the residents in, say, New York City? or is Dubai one of those extremely good looking cities but filled with lots of dirty secrets at every street corner, like as in people in Dubai are forced to obey strict rules and laws and are to some degree somewhat oppressed, but still manageable?

@mkim1224 I believe they do enjoy relatively freedom, but the laws are very strict indeed. But most of these laws are also culture and people are accustomed to them.
