you can't be half a nationality. American and Australian are (typically) the same ethnic group. mika is half white, half Japanese. she was born in America so she is American. She speaks Japanese; probably learning from her mom before moving to japan.
@hoperz97 All but Ayaka and Mika had difficulty adjusting and eventually left the group. Miki then left to study singing in CA, and Ayaka eventually left and signed over to a new company. If you look each girl up, you can also find out any public information of their careers post-Coconuts Musume; careers such as a beauty pageant winner, acting, singing, motherhood, and modeling. Several have active and official twitter accounts, so you can get an idea of how they are.
@hoperz97 Chelsea and April left the group due to the difficulties of adjusting to life as a J-pop idol (neither spoke any Japanese when group was formed) and to pursue other careers, such as modeling. about a year later DeLaunay also had difficulties adjusting and left the group to pursue a career in theater. February of 2002,Lehua graduated from the group, went on to the American pageant circuit, and eventually married and gave birth to a daughter.then maki graduated ayaka graduated years later
Can someone please the Ayaka,Mika, and Lehua are doing now.
i heard that Ayaka got married to a golfer and she'll doing a show in Japan, but that all i heard, i still dont know what Mika and Lehua. I want to know. PLEASE!!
it's kinda sad that Lehua never learned Japanese >__< Shes from America, had to sing in Japanese, then atleast teach her so she knows what she sings about.
i think this is the only realy great song coconut musume had LOL the tohers were jsut weird but haha what an intresting group 2 japanese girls and 1 american girl haha
Lehua was good too. She was really pretty and could had learned Japanese in two years by living there easily. If they would had got one or two more members that were also fluent they could of been big, I think. :)
Have I got this right? These girls are from America, but speaks japanese? I know that Mika is from Hawaii and got japanese parents, or something like that, and speaks both language, but the rest of the girls? Same story or what?
Danielle didn't speak Japanese either... so yeah, people were really hard on Coconuts, but they have to remember that most of them spoke very, very little Japanese and were having a hard time adjusting.
Mika: half american/australian I tought and half Japanese. speaks both.
Ayaka: also japanese. can also speak them both.
Other ones are from Hawaii. They can only speak English. Most stopped due not knowing the language and pressure of being an idol. I tought. Just check Wikipedia.
@tinzan well your right about mika but i think only her mother is japenese but im not sure ayaka is japnese she just can specak english and japenese and lehua is american i dont think she could speak any japenese im not sure but thats the main reason she left if u want to know more look on wikepedia
Lehua look so coool , and Mika, and Ayaka,, that girls are so cool ,, is a shame what H!P, dont give a true oportunity T_T ... i think Mika have a greath voice,, but she cant showit,, T_T ...
i really really really wish to see her return ,, anyway,, thanks 4 the vid ^^Y
For people saying Tsunku should have spent more time on them.....I would not have bothered with the Hawaiin girls in the first place. They could not even speak Japanese. And considering Japan is the country they are trying to be famous in. Thats awful.
@matterssw99 Well, there would be no Ayaka and Mika without Coconuts Musume. Try to think, how did they got discovered? Yes, through Coconuts Musume. You shoudl be greatful that this group was create. I love Coconuts Musume!
Tsunku was an idiot he should've worked with them more. and make them bigger. this is the first time i actually heard ayaka's vocals. she had a catchy voice.
i believe this is their best album and that's a huge overstatement. i hated the others.
After seeing 7nin Matsuri I didn't exactly like Lehua, but as i researched Coconuts Musume and found that she had stayed the longest out of the Non-Japanese speaking people i respected her.
I don't like their dancing in this video and hey seem to stride along, but other then that i like the song.
It would have had to have been hard for April, Danielle, Chelsea, and eventually Lehua to adapt to Japanese stardom without speaking it fluently...ah well...given the chance, I would have stuck with it :D

It's pretty funny that in this generation of CM there was a full Japanese, half Japanese and full American. Mika was like a "mix" of Ayaka and Lehua.

Awesome to think Lehua is half norwegian! Her father is norwegian.

I actually think its a shame this group was ever created.
Ayaka has an amazing voice, and this is the band she is best known for being in? She could have been an amazing soloist.
Mika shouldn't have been in this too. I love her in Mini Moni.
Its wierd to think two such wonderful singers were placed in such an awful band.

I don't think she was most famous for being in Coconuts Musume. On the paper where her marriage was announced it read 'former petit moni member'.
But yeah, it is the ultimate shame. It woulda been awesome if they released singles as a duo.
