  • That dude in the beggining has ADD or something

  • :SMUG: I'm awesome.

  • Fantastic Talk Mr. Singh! You kept it simple and still had enough juice to keep the flow going.

  • he's not very good at speaking

  • i like the things he says for a few seconds beginning with 0:21:37... that was funny :) "there's only so much u can do in mac os x. it's not like linux, where u can recompile the kernel every day and configure the hell out of it" B-) i think he's going back to linux :P

  • how this relates to the real world: I have an external firewire/usb drive, I formatted as HFS+ for mac files and FAT32 for windows. but try to copy a 4.1 GB Single-Layer DVD or a 7 GB dual-layer DVD to a windows machine, you can't without paying for MacDrive to read HFS+ on the windows box. I only have a single-layer burner on the mac, so I will install MacFuse and then be able to copy 7 GB DVDs on my mac, write them to the NTFS partition & connect to a windows computer with a dual layer burner

  • I very much like the file (object) oriented metaphor as it is one great way - if not _the_ way - to go! I hope Apple take it up - without fear and prejudice of Google - and support it as it would put OS X further ahead of Windows NT (Yes NT cause Vista is built upon and only improved upon in terms of (graphics) hardware driver model and a few APIs)... The Picasa and Google Docs Demo's showed its real power and useability that a MAC should _ALSO_ be renowned for! Come on APPLE!!!

  • Hello, I REALLY enjoyed Amit Singh's speech regardless of what other people thought. I enjoyed the history he went through to take us up to the present and show us the future for what improvements macFuse can do. I am curious how it is evolving and would love to see some follow ups, thanks :) I agree with Amit and would love to see this project become apart of the file system technology for further improvements!

  • good, he's a genius.

  • ace! :)

  • Ulan siz kim oluyorsunuz bizi bitirmeye calisiyorsunuz.

  • ne bu klip güzelmi yani!!! Gerci sizin seviyenize göre gene basarili diyelim aglamayin

  • ne cekincez be yüzünüzede deriz.

  • Ulan siz kim oluyorsunuz bizi bitirmeye calisiyorsunuz.sizin beyin seviyeniz buna asla yetmez

  • Good video, but LOL at 7:06.. "the internet happened"

  • Oh, you WOULD say that, Amit Singh!!!! You and your far right propaganda! You and Bill O'Reilly are cut from the same cloth!!!!

  • thanks:)

  • I'll start listening to what google has to say on coding when they'll be able to code a proper movie player, that doesn't reset when you log in or leave a comment, hey! we are in 2007 and even my little brother could do this alone! IF it was OS... if...

O, and mac filesystems sucks so bad, just in order to make sure they can control the hardware. damn!

  • Afaik, the whole issue with the whole "it stops loading and it won't start loading when I refresh!" is a common problem with Flash media players, packets, and caching. See, I don't think Youtube allows pipelining so you can't overload the server with requests. When you send packets for your comments or for a video while another video is loading, it cancels sending the packets for the fist video.

  • Thanks!

The demo was really blurry, though.

  • IN B4 3rd paig.

  • are google supporting the Open Source?? I really don't know that.

  • Jesus cristo, thats the longest damn vid ive ever seen on utube haha

  • God damn it why can't google keep these uploads to google video. Streams are much faster, and the youtube community are not interested in this sort of content at all.

I hate how I can no longer find everything valuable by searching for engedu on google video.

    :(

  • SIMPLE,SIMPLE,SIMPLE man, like 1+1=2 take all the garbage talk and talk simple and clear if you are gona tellme that you sistem is better and you need 84 minutes MAN what at waste of time!!! and butterflies shirt???

  • Sorry, they should have a warning on these videos. This video, and the rest in the series, are NOT for normal YouTubers. You people are too retarded, and watching it could damage your brain.

  • SO fucking BORING and unfocused. GET a fucking editor and fuck this blue juice down to ten minutes or less

  • Tell me!, is there enyone who watches this movie to the end?

  • I did

  • 84 min upload wow I needed this account :/

  • i like how all us normal youtubers are told to only have 10 min. videos where google gets to have hour and a half long videos that only a thousand people have watched.

  • seeing as google owns this place, i think they can pretty much do as they please... haha

  • This whole lecture could have been shortened to: "It's a higher level way of making file systems." Still though, I enjoyed it.

  • it s too long bah!

  • ZzzZzz :) ehm was? hehe gibts das auch auf deuutsch??

  • who wants to watch some geeky guys talk IT stuff for 1 hour and a half?

Why would you even post this?

  • Um, some other geeky guys maybe? Certainly the enjoyment people get from this talk will exceed what they get from your comment, so why would you, the pot, call the kettle black?

  • umm geeky geeks like me

  • I'm not a linux geek but I enjoyed it cuz now I how ntfs-3g relates to the FUSE biz.

  • 9 months ago and this video is still more relevant than your comment.

You don't say what your interests are, but I'm sure YouTube isn't just for You.

Sure he's not a professional presenter, but he is a professional programmer. The subtleties of his comments are lost on guys who aren't in the know. There's a whole lot going on in his comments, even in the things he doesn't say, because we who know can tell he would have said something about it if it were important. He didn't "not" say much.

  • why would someone post a video on their own website? hmm..seems logical to me. if someone wants to put something on their website and you don't like it, why don't you go off theit website?

  • could you make your new 'gears' project actually work on all browsers not just firefox, maybe by creating an 'out of browser' application.

  • Google Gears is OT from MacFUSE but a Google search for 'Google Gears for WebKit' will take you to relevant downloads and discussion. Enjoy :)
